The Choice

m up early to help prepare for the first match of the
Founders' Cup. Lanark is playing Brookhaven to open the
competition, and rumors have been flying in the media
about our star captain being injured. We've been pointedly ignoring
it all and spending the days training, working through Rafe's
stretches, and fucking each other as gently as we can manage
around that hip. We don't always succeed.
The medical kit is ready. The field-side equipment is ready. And
Rafe's hip is as ready as it will ever be. The whole team has
practiced and trained hard, studying Brookhaven's footage and
planning their strategy.
My game face is also ready. It'll need to be. I'm about to spend
ninety minutes watching the man I've been sleeping with sit on the
