Chapter 3
CHAPTER 3
Kyler
I can’t believe she’s back. Except, she hasn’t returned as that sparky kid I once called my best friend, the girl who was my very first crush and my everything when I was a young boy. She came back as a walking wet dream, with tits girls envy and a body men crave. That feeling that was once a mere crush is now a force so strong it nearly knocked me on my ass the moment I caught sight of her. But she’s trying to avoid me, acting as if we didn’t spend every day together when we were kids.
I walk into the cafeteria and join my friends at our usual table. Not surprised to find Chase and Cassie in an argument. I take my seat and scan the room for Presley while I listen to see what Cassie is bitching about today. That girl is always pissed about something. It’s still a fucking mystery to me what Chase even sees in her.
Ah, there she is . Presley is sitting in the back corner next to Ruby. Huh…that’s interesting. It’s the last table I’d expect her to be at. She should be sitting with us, the leaders of the pack, but I won’t be pressing the issue today. I am curious though why she chose to sit with Ruby. That girl’s a recluse and always keeps her nose in a book. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever even heard the girl speak before.
The two arguing next to me seem to be growing more heated and I’m caught by what they’re saying.
“You’re just jealous because she’s a knockout and you hate that she’s prettier than you,” Chase snaps and my head whips around. My ears perk up, wondering exactly who they’re talking about. Pretty sure I know who’s got Cassie’s panties in a jealous twist, but I’m not going to react to that assumption just yet.
Cassie turns a fierce glare on Chase, which is a big mistake.
“She is not prettier than me, Chase, and that’s not the reason. She was rude to me in class when I went out of my way to be nice to her and offer her a seat with us.” Her eyes snap a scowl in my girl’s direction, and it confirms what I suspected. They’re definitely talking about Presley. But Cassie’s dead wrong. Presley is on an entirely different level of gorgeous.
While Cassie is small-town beauty-queen pretty, Presley belongs in a centerfold as the most stunning and sexy girl ever to exist. Damn, I seriously can’t get over how she’s changed. Presley was a scrawny little girl, always cute and always the prettiest girl to me, but I’d never pictured she’d grow up to have killer curves. And those Legs…
“She wasn’t fucking rude to you, Cassie. She just said no thanks.” Chase shakes his head. His patience next to nil. She better back down or else she’s not gonna like how this ends. By the look in Chase’s eyes, it might be the grand finale.
“Yeah, but she chose to sit with the loser over us.”
“You’re such a bitch, Cassie. And by the way, I’m done with your ass. Consider us broken up.”
Damn. ‘Bout fucking time. Chase has been her personal pet for the last year and it’s been disgusting to watch. He’s a beast like me and dominates the field right by my side. But when he’s around Cassie, he’s like a dog on a leash. Though, she treats him more like dog shit. Maybe he’s finally grown tired of it and decided he can do a whole lot better than the bitch. Everyone can do a whole lot better than that girl.
I’ve never understood why he wanted to date her in the first place. She keeps getting nastier every year. Honestly, if it weren’t for the fact that she was Chase’s girlfriend, I would have refused to let her sit with us ages ago.
“Yeah, well good.” She cocks her chin. “I was going to break up with your pathetic ass anyway. It’s your best friend I’ve been imagining while I’m fucking you, Chase, just so you know.”
What the fuck? Me? She’s been imagining me? I cringe at the thought. There’s no way in hell I’d get near her with my dick. The girl’s personality is rancid. I turn my head toward my friend. Chase doesn’t even seem rattled by her comment. He gives me a look, silently asking permission, and I nod, giving him the go ahead. I know exactly what he wants to say to her and by all means he has every right to rip her a new one and knock her down off that throne she’s put herself up on. In fact, if he doesn’t do it, I will.
“There’s not a chance in hell Kyler would ever want to get inside your cunt. Can’t say I blame him; you’re a lousy fucking lay. Have to say, I’m pissed I wasted an entire year of my life on your ass. It makes me look fucking pathetic. But I’m not anymore.”
Oh snap! I’ve never seen Cassie’s eyes so wide, and it’s a damn funny sight to see. The bitch loves dishing it out, and she’s finally getting a heaping dose of it in return.
“And you know what else, Cassie? I’m getting myself a big fucking upgrade.” Chase stands and I see his eyes turn straight in the direction of my girl, and my entire frame instantly tenses. He comes around the table, his eyes set in Presley’s direction, and I hold out my hand to his chest, stopping him in his tracks.
“No,” I state, my voice a stern threat. I’m not mad at him for wanting her; I just can’t control the possessive thoughts running through my mind right now. There’s no way in hell I’m letting him make a play for my girl. No one is going to touch what’s mine.
“No what, dude?” His brow cocks up, eyes not understanding why he’s at the end of my glare.
I glance in Presley’s direction, my chest pounding hard at the sight of her. “She’s off-limits.”
“What the fuck?” He jerks back, homing back in on her table.
“She’s mine, Chase.”
He steps forward, getting right up in my face; his shoulders are braced like he’s ready to throw down. “There’s no way in hell I’m letting you fuck that girl like you do all the rest, Kyler. That girl is not a one-night stand, man. So, you need to get the fuck out of my way.”
I couldn’t agree more. She’s not like all the rest. She’s in a league of her own. “I’m not going to just fuck her, Chase. I’m going to make her mine. She’s the one.”
Chase nearly stumbles backwards as gasps echo around us. Sounds like the girls were eavesdropping on our conversation. Good. Now, the news will spread like wildfire. My best friend is staring at me like I’ve grown horns.
“She was my girl back when we were kids,” I state. “Now she’s back, and I’m not letting her go.”
He looks over at Presley again then turns back. “No fucking way.” He’s shaking his head. “Is that her? Your old neighbor? The one you always hung out with and had that big crush on when we were kids? The one you always talked about?”
The one and only.
I tip my chin, and he’s even more shocked. Make that the two of us. Damn, I still can’t believe she’s back.
“Holy shit, dude. Bet you never thought she’d grow up looking like that, did you?” He can say that again. She moved away a twelve-year-old girl with a love for pigtails and a mouth full of braces and she came back a Playboy Bunny.
Chase plants himself next to me on the table. “So, how come she moved back?”
“Don’t know yet.” I shrug. She’s been avoiding me, so I haven’t had a chance to find out anything yet. But I plan on it.
“Fuck, dude! Don’t you wish you still lived in your old house?” He laughs. “So, you could still spy on her through your window.”
I punch his shoulder. Fucking douche. He’s saying that shit too loud. Besides, I was a kid back then. But let’s be real. If I still lived in my old house, I’d be stalking her 24/7. Watching her through her window. My hand tucked inside my pants as I studied every curve of her body. Fuck. But my parents sold our house a few months after Presley moved away. We now live in a place twice the size, but I’d trade my pool and basketball court in a heartbeat if I could still have that old place. I’d be begging Presley to climb up into that old tree house with me every night, just like in the old days. Only it wouldn’t be to read comics and eat candy. I’d be eating that sweet candy between her legs.
A near growl has me looking to my right. Cassie’s glaring in Presley’s direction. Her evil stare narrowed right in like she’s visualizing her attack. Playing out exactly what nasty things she’ll do to the girl. How she’ll cut her down with her words and tear her to social shreds.
“You better stop looking at my girl before I make a scene in front of this entire room and make it to where your social status is below zero, Cass.” My tone is not to be messed with. She better think fucking twice if she plans on lashing out because that shit will not be tolerated.
Her cheeks turn bright red, and she swallows hard before quickly turning away. Let’s just hope she heeds my warning. Or else I’ll be making good on my threat.
I turn my attention back to Presley and see her in conversation with Ruby. My chest tightens when I see the girl, who I didn’t even know could speak, laughing, and it’s due to something my girl is saying to her. I felt the same way when I watched her with John in gym class. Presley was making the kid smile and got him out of his shell. I was not only impressed, but thought it was cool of her to pick him. He’s always the last one chosen because he’s the least athletically inclined kid in our class, and that shit has to sting.
It no doubt made him feel good to have the hottest girl in school pick him as a partner. Of course, I wanted her to pick me and was going to demand whomever she did pick to trade with me, but when I saw her walk up to John, I backed down. And then I watched as she acted like a clown just to get the kid to laugh and loosen up. Yeah, she’s definitely a keeper. And man, do I want to go over there and stake my claim. But now is not the right time. For now, I’ll have to be patient.
