His Coveted Obsession (The District #4)

His Coveted Obsession (The District #4)

By Courtney W. Dixon

Preface

This book was a fun and wild ride to write.

I’ve been dying to write Easton’s story for a long time now.

To really delve deeply into writing about someone with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD)—sociopathy.

Easton is also neurodivergent. I really wanted him to be realistic, and not just have hints of sociopathy.

Like what would it look like, and how would he behave in a real setting on a date?

I had to think long and hard about who would love a person like Easton.

And who would catch Easton’s attention long enough for both of them to find an HEA?

It wasn’t easy. I know some readers really wanted to see an older man or some alpha male for Easton.

But that won’t work. Easton needs to be in control.

He would never put up with someone he has to fight for dominance and control over.

It would have to be someone who doesn’t fully recognize Easton’s sociopathy, or is able to see past it.

Easton cannot feel things like empathy and love.

But don’t feel bad for him. He likes who he is.

The only way to find them both an HEA is to pair Easton up with someone who worships the ground he walks on.

Easton has a strong ego that needs to be fed.

He’s a narcissist. It’s not intentional.

He was made this way. To keep his interest, his partner would have to fulfill all of Easton’s wants and needs.

In return, he will do whatever it takes to continue the satiation he gets from his partner.

Yes, it doesn’t sound very loving, does it?

It’s very red flaggy haha. But there’s the trick…

We see a very different side to Easton through Thomas’s eyes.

His obsession shows the beauty that is Easton, all the while, he ignores all those red flags.

But Easton does have his special moments that feel swoon-worthy.

Do not expect tension between them, hurting each other, or toxicity. One is obsession, and the other is possessive, but it works for them.

I really had a lot of fun playing with this dynamic. It was a very delicate balance not to make Thomas appear brainless and not make Easton too narcissistic and cold.

I’m also sad to say this will be my last book for The District.

I’ll explain more in the afterward section.

I had worked in Maverick and Khai, but I ended up doing a short section at the end, wrapping them up.

So Easton’s book is the last. And I’m glad he’s the last. He had some growing to do before I could tell his story.

I hope you enjoy this last book and all the nuances I gave Easton and Thomas to make them work. I absolutely love them.

Thanks for reading His Coveted Obsession!

Enjoy!
