Chapter 6

CHAPTER SIX

Arlo

It was as if a switch was flipped.

Sadie’s horny switch.

After we had sex the first time, she wanted it again soon after. Then again. By the fourth time, we passed out in each other’s arms, completely spent.

But I woke up to my dick in her mouth, and we were at it again.

I didn’t want to leave the bed and adult, but alas, both of us had to work and get on with the day.

After showering, more sex, a walk with Warrior, and some breakfast, I drove Sadie to the spa. I already texted Crew earlier and let him know I’d now be the security guard at the spa, and if he needed me, that was where he’d find me.

Like I said, I wasn’t letting Sadie out of my sight.

Lacey had no problem with the idea, considering what happened, and I knew Sadie liked it. She might never admit it, but I saw the way her eyes lit up and her shoulders sagged with relief when I told her.

And so we fell into an easy routine. I protected the spa while she worked, we went home together, had our meals together, and took Warrior for walks together. While she practiced the self-care she loved so much, I played with Warrior and worked on training lessons with him.

In my mind, Sadie was already my wife. But now it was time to make it official.

“Where can I get a nice diamond around here?” I asked Crew over lunch one afternoon. A few days had gone by, and the whole town already knew we were a thing. It wasn’t like we hid it.

He nearly spit out his drink. “I knew it! Well, actually, Lacey knew it. Okay, we both knew it, along with the whole town.”

“Just shut up and tell me where to go.”

“I’ll do you one better, and I’ll take you there.”

Now, if only I could find the perfect time to ask her.

Thankfully, she picked up two extra clients at work the next day, so I asked Rowan to keep an eye on the spa while I ran home and set everything up. I made a trail of roses leading up to the bed, spread more petals out in the shape of a heart, and set the engagement ring box in the middle.

After taking Warrior out on a quick walk, I took him with me to pick Sadie up, as I didn’t want him back in his crate again. He had too much energy to get rid of.

Sadie waited at the front door for me when I pulled up, Rowan right by her side.

“Thanks, man,” I said as I got out of the car, Warrior tucked under one arm. Soon, he’d be way too big to even hold, but for now, it worked. “I appreciate it.”

“Anytime, brother. You know that.” Rowan held out his fist, and I bumped mine with his. “This little guy is cute, huh? Can I hold him?”

“You betcha. I need to say hello to my woman.” I handed Rowan my dog and turned to find Sadie waiting by the truck, her face flushed with color. She radiated happiness, and damn, it looked amazing on her.

I scooped her into my arms and spun her around before kissing her like I’d been starved of her love for years.

“Ew, you two. Get a room,” Rowan teased. “Isn’t that right, doggie? Your dad is swapping saliva. Much like you like to.”

Sadie and I laughed. I kissed her one more time and reluctantly let her go. “To be continued.” I winked at her before taking Warrior back from Rowan.

“Have a good night, Rowan!” Sadie called as I walked her around to the passenger side of my truck. Warrior went nuts as she climbed into the truck and leaped from my arms into hers.

“This dog loves you,” I said as I closed her door and waved goodbye to Rowan.

As we drove home, my nerves took over, and I began second-guessing myself.

What if she isn’t ready? What if I’m rushing her?

I reached over an excited Warrior and took her hand in mine, bringing it to my lips and kissing it gently. She smiled back at me with the beam of a thousand suns. Her beauty continued to amaze me.

When we arrived home, I let Warrior out in the backyard to get rid of some of his energy, supplying him with a bone filled with peanut butter and pumpkin. He’d be busy for at least an hour.

I found Sadie scouring the fridge, and I stepped up behind her, wrapping my arms around her from behind. “Dinner’s on the way.”

Sadie laughed and spun around, standing on her tiptoes to kiss me. “You read my mind.”

“Can we sneak upstairs real quick before the food arrives?”

She bit her lip in that cute way she always does. “Actually, I was thinking of taking a hot shower. Care to join me?”

“Would I ever say no to that?” I took her hand and led her over to the staircase where the rose petals began.

“You better not,” Sadie teased as she followed.

And then I heard her gasp. The one I’ve gotten to know so well.

“Rose petals?” Sadie asked.

“If you follow them, they’ll take you somewhere special.”

Sadie giggled and hurried up the stairs. I couldn’t take my eyes off her perfect ass, which helped distract me from my nerves.

As we rounded the corner and went into the bedroom, she stopped short at the foot of the bed and gasped again. This time, much louder.

She spun around. “Arlo! Is that…?”

I dropped to one knee, and Sadie’s hands flew over her mouth.

“I love you, Sadie. I’ve loved you since I first laid down on your massage table, and I’ll never stop. I’ll protect you, keep you safe, and love you until my dying day, I promise you that. Please make me the happiest man in the world and marry me.”

Tears streamed down her face. “I never believed in love at first sight…or hell, even love for that matter, until I met you, Arlo. You’ve changed my life, and even in these few short days, I know, without a doubt, that you’re the one for me.”

I jumped to my feet, wrapped my arms around her, and kissed her over and over. “We’re crazy, right?” I laughed.

“Actually, what’s even crazier is that Lacey was right. There is a love bug going around this small town!”

“Crew said the same thing! They passed it on to us.” I ran my hands over her delicious curves, my delicious curves.

“I’m glad they did.”

“Me too, baby. Me too.”
