Chapter 34

POV: Abby

If you told me that my life would end up like this a few months ago—like a picture perfect movie—then I would laugh at you.

I would laugh so hard that my belly ached.

And more importantly, I wouldn’t have believed you. At all.

I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me that I’d one day take over my dad’s bar, or that I’d also work with animals on a ranch, or that I’d be engaged to the man of my dreams.

I wouldn’t have believed you. Even when it happened to be true.

Because here I was, wiping down dirty bar countertops, the soft thrum of music fading in the background, as I watched Cole mix drinks behind the bar.

Dad stood off to the side, watching him just like I was.

Hell, we were both surprised that Cole had taken so well to working at a bar, let alone openly speaking to people. But he had. He actually had.

I admired him for a moment, watching the way his muscles contoured with every movement, and the way his wavy dark hair fell over his forehead, and the way his gaze always found its way back to me.

“He’s trying,” my dad murmured, smiling.

“Should we give him an award?” I laughed.

His arm wrapped around my shoulder, tugging me closer to him. “I’m happy for you, Abs. I’m happy you found someone to spend the rest of your life with.”

“I might get rid of him next week,” I teased, before shaking my head and laughing. “I would never dream of getting rid of him.”

“I know that he’s good to you and he loves you and he’ll do anything to make you happy…and that’s what matters to me. That I know one day when I’m gone, you’ll still be happy.”

Tears threatened to fall but I shooed them off. “Dad…”

“I ain’t getting any younger, Abs.”

“You’re still young to me,” I told him, wrapping him into a hug and squeezing. “And you still have a lot of life left to live.”

“I do?” he chuckled, looking at me with soft eyes.

“Yep….because,” I sucked in a breath before looking down at my stomach. “Cole!” I called out, my fingertips tingling as I thought of finally telling another person our news.

Cole walked over, all effortless cowboy swagger and wrapped his arm around my waist.

I looked up at him with big hopeful eyes. “Should we?”

Cole caught on right away, call it his cowboy instinct.

One slight nod was all it took for the words to come spilling from my mouth like an endless river.

“I’m pregnant, dad. You’re going to be a grandpa.”

I should’ve known my dad would be dramatic about it.

Because right after the words left my mouth, it was all dramatics then. He nearly jumped into the air, wrapping his arms around us and pulling us into a hug together. Then he let us go and placed his hands firmly on our shoulders. “I’m going to be a grandpa!”

“Yes you are,” I laughed, smiling.

I’ve never seen him so happy before.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy! My daughter is having a baby!” he announced to the whole bar.

Of course he’d announce it to the whole bar.

Locals raised their glasses high to the ceiling, cheers erupted and even a few people said, “Atta boy!” To Cole.

I rolled my eyes, shaking my head. “I’m your only daughter, only child not to mention,” I told my dad.

He clapped happily. “And it’ll be my only grandbaby—until you have another.”

“Woah, woah, slow down old man, this one isn’t even born yet and you’re already banking on us having a second one,” I chuckled.

Cole’s grip tightened around my waist, as he whispered, “We can make that happen.”

I rolled my eyes again. “God, you’re just as bad as he is!”

“Well, I think I’m worse,” Cole added, glancing at my stomach.

“Quit it,” I told him, breaking away from his grasp and walking towards the bathroom.

Dad was busy serving customers at the bar, too busy to see me walking towards the bathroom with Cole following behind me.

The door never swung behind me, but instead of closing completely, it was stopped by a rough palm.

Cole stepped inside the women’s bathroom with a smirk teetering on the corner of his lips.

The sound of the lock clicking echoed throughout.

Cole propped his broad shoulders against the door, crossing his arms in front of his chest and causing my gaze to linger along his tanned muscular arms.

“God, this seems like deja-vu.”

“Does it?” he asked, torturing me with one of his legendary smirks. “Because we’re in this bathroom?”

“That’s exactly the reason,” I replied.

“And what has happened in this bathroom?” he asked, taking a step forward towards me. His thumb ran along my chin, tilting it upwards to look at him. “Good memories?”

“Very good memories,” I whispered. “Memories that may or may not have contributed to this,” I replied, pointing towards my stomach.

“I don’t think we can pin down one time in particular,” Cole chuckled, grabbing my and squeezing it.

I let out a high pitched squeal, surprised by his sudden grasp.

Cole backed me into the wall, his hips thrusting into me, pining me against it.

“Cole,” I warned him. “My father’s right outside.”

His lips found their way to my neck. “It hasn’t stopped us before,” he muttered, kissing across my skin.

“True,” I moaned out, as he lifted my dress, skimming the outline of my panties.

“Agreeable now, aren’t we?” he asked, as yanked my underwear to the side then spun me around, pinning my arms together behind my back.

“You always find a way to make me agreeable,” I muttered out.

“Just needs a little coaxing,” he murmured as his thumb slid down to my folds. His movements were slow and deliberate. Each flick sent a moan from my mouth.

Slowly, he slid my underwear to the side. With one movement, his zipper opened and the tip of his cock nudged at my entrance way, and then he was inside me, slowly carving me open for him.

Every thrust was unhurried, every time he filled me it was like the first time again.

I moaned into the wall and Cole covered my mouth with his rough palm to muffle the sound.

“That’s it, stay quiet,” he whispered, as he thrusted slower. “That’s my pretty girl.”

“Pretty?” I laughed, hoping for a better compliment.

“Beautiful,” he corrected, thrusting again, tightening his hold on my wrist, as his finger continued to work my clit.

“Better but…”

Before I could finish the sentence, Cole thrusted inside of me again, rubbing my clit at the same time and bringing me to my very edge. I felt him tense around me, cuming inside of me and filling me with his seed. Filling me with life.

We were already bringing one life into the world, and before we even had, I was hoping to bring another. And another.

And I figured I’d be pregnant with Cole’s babies until our ranch had just as much babies as it did animals.

He returned with a kleenex to help me clean up. “I love you, Abby.”

And who knew he would make a totally unromantic scenario romantic. Wiping up our cum with a kleenex in my family’s bar bathroom.

“And I love you, Cole.”

“Wife,” he smiled, throwing away the kleenex and walking back to press a kiss into my lips.

Like our love, the kiss endured, lingered, and for a moment I forgot we were in a locked bathroom.

“Husband,” I smirked, grabbing his hand and leading him back out into the bar.

Cole was still the same man I met that first day in the bar—he hadn’t changed much, except for the fact that he finally realized what he needed.

It was still his dominion, and I’ve surrendered completely to him.
