Chapter 3 Shattered Glass

The wine bottle smashed on the floor and shattered instantly.

I worried someone would step on the pieces, so I reached out to pick them up.

The flickering lights made me careless. My finger got cut.

Blood dripped onto the floor. Shen Yizheng did not look over.

After I finished picking up the large shards, I stood and walked to the bathroom.

I turned on the faucet and washed my bleeding finger, watching the blood mix with the water.

When it finally stopped bleeding, I turned around. A band-aid appeared in front of me.

I followed the cute wrapper upward. It was Lanxi.

"I saw your finger was injured."

Lanxi pushed the band-aid toward me again. "Shall I help you put it on?"

Her gaze rested on my reddened wound.

When I did not speak, she opened the band-aid herself.

Her cool fingers touched the back of my hand. I looked up and realized how close we were.

So close I could smell her shampoo.

"All done."

Lanxi looked up too. We saw each other's reflections in our eyes.
