Chapter 15
Zachary’s POV
Amara is standing on the front patio of her current stay. She is looking beautiful as always. I was about to reach her, suddenly Ethan appoaches from her behind. He pulls Amara to his chest, then he started kissing her.
I was just standing there watching them do it, feeling helpless. I roared in anger and woke up startled. Thank goddess it’s just a dream. A very BAD dream.
“Why would you dream such insolence things and spoil my day” my wolf huffing in the corner. I guess he also felt the rage.
“You think I want to see her making out with other guy? Heck no. I don’t want to see her with anyone other than me. I can’t control my dreams” I tried to convince the both of us.
As a matter of fact, Ethan was coming to my pack today and I couldn’t shake off the feeling that things were about to get more complicated. Is there something going on betweeen them ? Am I too late to get her back ? I heard them talk on phone yesterday, it was too cheesy for my liking.
When I reached the dining area for breakfast, the sight of Ethan and Mason laughing together greeted me. I hid my frown and joined them.
“Good morning, Alpha Gray” he greeted, nodding respectfully.
“Morning, Ethan. Glad you made it safely” I said and took my seat at the table.
Just then, I heard a car pull up outside.
Moments later, Amara walked in. My heart skipped a beat at her sight.
She is in her casual clothing today. She is wearing a pink tank top and black trousers.
She looks amazing in anything she wears.
I just want to grab her and kiss till the eternity.
Ethan stood up to greet her and she hugged him back. I felt my blood boiling as jealousy surged through me. My wolf, growled in my mind, wanting to rip Ethan’s arm off.
“It’s good to see you. I missed you” she says to him.
“I missed you too, crazy pants” he replied back.
Oh he got a nick name for her too. Please Moon goddess, make them stop hugging already. I clenched my fists under the table, trying to keep my composure as they joined us for breakfast. I focused on my plate, forcing myself to eat.
“Good morning Alpha Gray” she greeted and sat beside Ethan. I nodded along. Everyone started digging into their food.
“So, Mason what’s the latest news on the rogue attacks? I don’t want to sound rude but Alpha Greg is little worried about Amara”
“I know and I can understand. We have suspicions on our longtime enemy Maximus. We’ve taken all necessary precautions, especially with Amara’s current accommodation” Mason replies.
“Yes, Ethan. I have already called dad. They even appointed extra security around the house I’m currently staying in. So no need to worry. Plus they need our help the most” Amara explains calmly.
“Yeah And Ethan I thought you would want to stay in the same house as Amara as it has 4 rooms and very near to our pack hospital. Plus it will be good if Amara doesn’t stay alone there”
“Good. I was about to ask you the same. I don’t want her to be alone either” Ethan visibly grinning.
I nearly choked on my food. “I think, that might not be necessary. We have plenty of other house and cottages near by. You can stay there. You can even stay in our pack house if you want” I offered praying he would accept my offer.
“It’s not a problem for me, Alpha. Back home, we lived in the same pack house anyway. Plus, I don’t want to leave her alone with the risk of rogues around”
I couldn’t argue further without revealing too much. Everyone seemed content with the arrangement, except for me and Aiden. He was going crazy and I could barely contain him.
Sam and Rose joined us for breakfast. Ethan greeted them.
Amara introduced Ethan to Rose. Rose being Rose, can’t resist herself from asking personal questions.
“Amara, you haven’t found your mate yet right?” Amara was about to spill her coffee.
“No Rose. No luck yet” she relies back.
Rose continues.“I guess your mate lives in some other pack. That’s why you haven’t met him yet. You should visit different packs, it will elevate your chances of finding him. I met Sam in an inter pack conference itself”
Ethan speaks intervening “Even I’m single. No luck in finding my better half”
Rose adds, “It’s strange that neither of you have found your mates. You guys are of same age, same profession and equally attractive. Nowadays it’s common to mate with familiar one’s rather than waiting for the fated mate. What do you people think about that ?
Do you guys have some lovey-dovey feelings for each other ?”
That was the last straw. I growled loudly, unable to hide my fury any longer. The table fell silent and all eyes turned to me. I pushed back my chair and stormed out, heading for my room.
As I slammed the door shut, I tried to calm Aden, who was raging inside. A few minutes later, there was a knock at my door. Mason walked in, looking concerned.
“Zach, what’s going on with you man? You’ve been acting strange lately” I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “It’s complicated, Mason. There’s a lot on my mind”
“Is it about Amara? You act strangely around her. I have seen you always stealing glances at her. Last time you choked me to death when I was admiring her. On day of coming back from Blue Moon pack, you couldn’t control your wolf. And today you got enraged because of Ethan being close to her.
Am I right?” He asks with full seriousness.
I looked at him sharply. He had always been perceptive. He can tell how I am feeling by just looking at me. But I can’t tell him the truth. I have promised Amara not to tell anybody.
“No, nothing like that. It’s more than that. The rogue attacks, Maximus... everything is just piling up in my head” I tell him averting my gaze.
He’s trying to read my face. “Hmm.. So it’s not related to Amara then. I guess it’s good then. My road is clear then. I wanted to ask her out. I thought you liked her, so I didn’t make any moves yet. I like her. She is confident, caring, kind and most importantly so hot. I can’t take my eyes of her.
If everything goes as planned, I will ask her to be my chosen..”
before he can finish his last sentence I grabbed him by his neck in a chokehold.
I can see only red at this point. “How dare you talk about her like that? You want to date her? She is only mine.. she is my mate!!” I growled with fury.
He tapped my bicep which was choking his neck. “Za...ch leave me pl...ease” I heard him say in a chocked tone. I realised what I was doing. I backed out leaving him free. We both were panting.
He stood up slowly. His neck is fully bruised, but he is smiling victoriously for some reason.
“I was just bluffing man. Just trying to make you confess that’s all. Oh Goddess, another 10 seconds in that hold, I would have been a dead handsome Beta by now” he laughed.
Is my Beta gone bonkers? I have surely, wrecked his brain.
“So she is your mate then. Why didn’t you tell me this the last time. I knew something is going on between you two” he is smirking.
Oh goddess, I told him the truth. What do I do? There’s no going back now. “Yeah, man. She is my mate” I confirmed.
“So, you rejected Amara four years back? Why in hell would you do it?” He asks with a hard look.
“You knew my reasons back then. She was just 18 at that time. I thought she was a teenager who cannot become my luna and lead our pack. I thought she would be a liability at that time” I explained him my situation.
“Are you crazy? She is the perfect mate for you. How can you be so intelligent and dumb at the same time?” He is mocking me now.
“Stop it Masy, you want me to hold your neck again?” I asked smirking.
“No thanks. So, what you want to do now? Do you still want to push her away?” He asks softly.
I sighed, knowing my situation. “In the past 4 years I regretted every single day for pushing her away. Now that I met her again, I don’t want to loose this chance. I want her. I can’t imagine my life without her. I thought after bringing her to our pack,
I will ask her forgiveness and make her mine”
“Did you speak to her? What did she say?” he questions.
“I have tried once. She just hates me from her core. I don’t blame her. I humiliated her and told I would take Michelle as my chosen luna back then” I say, feeling every bit of embarrassment.
“Wonderful. And you expect her to accept your apology? Is there any chance you can get our Luna back?” He plopped down on my bed.
I nodded, knowing he was right. “I will. I just need to figure out how”
“My only biggest conern is the Ethan for now. He seem to be very close with Amara. I don’t know how to ask to even ask her about this?” I ran my fingers into my hair.
“Oh don’t worry about him. They are just childhood friends. Once you left the table, Amara replied to Rose saying the same” Mason assures me.
“Thank Goddess. I just hope I have not pushed her towards the idea of choosing a mate herself” I murmer. “About Ethan staying with her? Will you be okay with that?”
I gritted my teeth. “I don’t like it at all, but I can’t stop it now. I’ll just have to control myself from killing him”
“Why didn’t you tell me all this before?” he asks, I could feel a hint of hurt in his voice.
“She made me promise, not to share the information with anyone, that we are mates. I just wanted to bring her here, so I obliged” I said.
Mason stood up patted my shoulder. “We’re here for you, Zach. You’re not alone in this. I will help you win her back. Please don’t fuck up this time. We need our luna at any cost. And calm your wolf for heaven’s sake, meanwhile try not to kill or choke anyone” He laughs.
I nodded at him. “Thanks man”.
As he left, I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself.
