Chapter 19
Zachary’s POV
Three days back... We reached Alpha Zoro’s pack after travelling a day. Surprisingly, there was no one from their pack at their borders or anywhere on the way to Alpha Zoro’s pack house.
It was awfully quiet. My 15 warriors and I were on high alert, sensing something had happened to the pack members here.
As we approached Zoro’s pack house, we saw a pile of wolf and human bodies on the ground nearby. It was a horrible sight, air around us is filled with blood stench. After verification we understood that these bodies belongs to Alpha Zoro’s pack members.
Suddenly, more than 50 rogues attacked us, led by a huge grey wolf. Even though he was commanding everyone in his army, he was not their actual leader. I felt he was just a pawn in this whole scheme.
I mind linked Sam and the other fighters and we all shifted into our wolves. “You were right Zach, this is indeed a trap set for us” Sam said before he jumped on a rogue and biting his shoulder.
The fight went long and brutal. The rogues were well-trained and came with proper planning, all wielding silver weapons. Silver slows down our healing and acts as poison for us, werewolves.
Aiden was enraged, he swiftly killed many of the rogues like the beast he is. But we sustained multiple injuries. As I moved ahead, I got circled by four rogues and the vile-looking grey wolf. One of the rogue referred to him as Buggy.
The rogues attacked me from all the sides.
I fought fiercely, claws slashing and teeth snapping.
Now, I was on top of four dead rogue wolves.
Buggy lunged at me, aiming for my throat.
I dodged and countered, slashing at his side.
Blood sprayed from his wound, but he barely flinched.
Certainly he was stronger than the others.
Now, we were circling each other. “Maximus wants your head. You’re a dead man soon, Alpha Gray” Buggy cackled viciously.
“Well then, ask him to come and try” I growled back.
Buggy’s eyes gleamed with a savage grin. “That can be arranged soon”
We clashed again, Buggy managed to land a deep bite on my shoulder. I howled in pain but retaliated with a powerful swipe that sent him staggering back. The rogues around us pressed their attack, but my warriors fought them off, giving me room to face Buggy.
Buggy lunged at me once more, he swiftly turned into his human form and picked up the nearby silver dagger. I tried to dodge, but he was too fast. The blade sank into my stomach and I roared in agony.
“I can’t give up yet” I made a mental note.
I blinked to focus on my enemy rather than the shooting pain from the stab wound.
Aiden surged forward, pushing me to fight through the pain. I grabbed Buggy’s arm and twisted, forcing the dagger out of my flesh. Blood poured from the wound, but I didn’t relent.
With a final, desperate effort I slashed at Buggy’s throat, cutting deep. He staggered back, choking on his own blood.
“Maximus... will never stop... until you’re dead” he rasped before collapsing.
I stood over his body, panting and bleeding. The fight around us was dying down as my warriors finished off the remaining rogues. I swayed on my feet, the pain and blood loss catching up to me. Sam limped over, his own injuries severe but not fatal.
“Alpha, we did it” he said, relief in his voice. Everyone started to cheer. I nodded, but my vision was blurring.
Despite being outnumbered, we managed to win against them. All my warriors were brave and heroes today. I can’t be more proud.
“Sam... send for backup” I managed to say before collapsing. The last thing I saw before darkness claimed me was Amara’s lovely face and smile.

Amara’s POV
Present day..
As the day progressed, a sense of unease settled over me. I tried to brush it off, but it kept nagging at the back of my mind. Around mid-afternoon, the hospital received an urgent call.
An informer from Zachary’s team had been severely injured and was being brought in for treatment. My heart skipped a beat. Something had gone wrong at the southern border.
When the injured wolf arrived, it was clear he had been in a brutal fight. We rushed him to surgery and as I worked to stabilize him, I couldn’t stop thinking about Zachary. What if he was hurt too? What if something terrible had happened?
After the surgery, I stepped out to get some air. Ethan joined me, his expression grim. “What happened out there?” he asked.
“I don’t know, but it doesn’t look good. I need to find out if Zachary is okay. I will go to pack house and check with Mason” I said, my voice trembling.
“Do you want me to come with you?” Ethan held me to comfort me.
“No, I will go there alone. One of us is required here at the hospital. If anything happens, I’ll mind link you” I replied, determination settling in me.
Before I get into my car, a black SUV stopped in front of us. Mason was there, his face a mask of worry. He walked down to us.
“I heard about the attack. Is Zachary okay?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“I don’t want to lie to you, it doesn’t look good. The informers mentioned our troops got attacked by rogue army of Maximus. Alpha Zoro and his pack members were brutally murdered by them before we got there. I heard from Sam that,
our warriors fought with the rogues bravely and won” Mason explained in single breath.
I was shocked, scared and feeling proud of our warriors at the same time. “What about Zachary? Where is he? Is he okay?” I asked with a trembling voice.
Mason touched his temple, “During the fight almost everyone from our side got injured, since the rogues were triple the number and using weapons laced with silver. I don’t know the exact details, but the fighters which we sent today are bringing them back. They will be here soon”
I got the feeling, Mason is hiding something from me. But I know one thing for sure, Zachary is alive. I can feel it in my bones.
Soon more than 5 cars came with full speed and got parked outside the hospital. We alerted the hospital staff and managed to bring all injured members for attending.
“Mate is here. But I don’t feel good about this Amara” Eva tells in scared voice.
From the last vehicle, Sam got out limping. I smelled Zachary. Mason rushed to him. He and Sam placed Zachary on the stretcher. He was covered in blood, unconscious and his pulse were very low.
I felt the entire universe came crashing down on me. Everything and everyone around me just stopped. Eva was howling in agony.
Ethan pulled me back from my depressing thoughts. “Amara, get a hold of yourself. He needs you more than ever” Ethan said sternly.
We moved Zachary to the ICU. It was good that Dr.Smith was with us now. He gave our staff the pointers for treating major injuries. Later Ethan and Dr.Smith went in to operate on Zachary.
I didn’t dare enter the ICU, I was standing outside the doors stuck like a pole. I didn’t have the courage to see him in such state. Mason was with me all the time, to support me.
After few hours, the operation was over. Dr.Smith called us in. I went in with trembling steps. Zachary was on bed and connected to several machines which are monitoring his vitals. He had cuts and bruises all over his body.
My heart stopped for a moment to see him like that. His handsome face was covered in sweat.
I touched his hand, which was cold as ice. I started sobbing like crazy. I came back to my sense, when Ethan shook my shoulder.
“Amara, get a grip for Moon goddess’s sake. He is still with us” he confirms.
