-Don Jones-

I stretched, yawning before sitting straight on the bed.

When my gaze caught sight of the time on the wall clock, I was surprised to see it read nine a.m.

Well, at least it was Saturday and there was no need to head to work.

The door opened, and without any surprise, Eri ambled in, looking stunning in the purple spaghetti handle shirt she had on with a gray miniskirt, matched with a purple purse.

"Good morning my love." She sauntered towards me, sitting beside me on the bed, before blessing my cheeks with a small peck.

"You look beautiful, are you heading somewhere?" That was obvious, but I still asked.

A smile appeared on her lips.

Gosh, how I loved that smile.

Her presence alone was like a gift to me and I just wanted every other day to be filled with happiness.

"Yes, today's Suzy's appointment with the doctor for radiation therapy." She dramatically swiped no sweat off her forehead. "Finally she's going to be completely healed and there'd be no need for stress or other things."

"I'm happy for you. Will you stay long?"

Her smile grew wider. "Why? Will you miss me?"

"Of course I will, I'm not going to work today and everywhere'll be boring without you."

That was not a lie.

Since she'd come to my life, I couldn't imagine staying alone for a long time because the house suddenly felt empty without her.

"Well I might spend some time there, you know Suzy doesn't like staying in the hospital alone." She looked thoughtful for a moment.

"Okay then, have fun my love." I tucked her hair behind her ear to plant a kiss on the ear, earning a giggle from her.

"Your breakfast's on the table, you should eat it all."

"Sure thing." When I stood up, she did the same, giving me a small hug from behind.

"And try not to miss me too much handsome."

I pivoted, wrapping my arms round her waist, so I could gaze more at those beautiful hazel colored eyes of hers.

"That'll be difficult, you know." I pressed my lips against hers and she kissed back.

Mr Sal had called me earlier to let me know that there was still some work that needed completion, so I was in my office doing whatever needed to be done on my laptop.

My phone vibrated, indicating I had a message.

When I checked what it was, it was from Eri letting me know they'd arrived at the hospital.

I couldn't help but smile, she was such a cute person.

Till now, I was still confused how I fell in love so deeply for her, but either way, I was glad it happened and there was nothing that could drift us apart.

The knock from the door cut through my thoughts.

"Come in." I dropped my phone back on the desk, focusing on the work that needed to be completed on my laptop.

The door opened and though I didn't see who walked in, I was sure it was going to be a maid.

"Miss Silver is waiting for you in the first parlor."

Just the sound of her name made me pull my brows together in a frown.

Why is she here? What exactly does she want?

She really doesn't like to give up, does she?

I stood up from my desk, leaving my office to the first parlor where June was sitting comfortably on one of the chairs.

A huge smile appeared on her face when she noticed me, but I didn't return it as I strutted towards one of the chairs, sitting on it.

"Why are you here?" I didn't bother to hide the displeasure her presence bought me.

"Can't I come over to greet my best friend?" Her smile spoke of her intention.

This girl can never change. She couldn't deceive me with whatever words she would say.

For so long, she'd loved me. That couldn't change with her being away for a few months, right?

"I don't want you coming to my house again, my wife doesn't feel comfortable with your presence." That made her smile fall.

She clutched her dress tightly like she was trying to suppress her anger. "Well, I'm here to talk to you about your wife."

"Eri?" My brows drew a little in confusion.

What would she have to say?

Anything relating to Eri was my business because I loved her too much.

Her lips were pulled to a smirk. "The main reason I came back from Dubai was because I found out some news while there."

"Stop beating around the bush and tell me what fucking thing you've got to say or leave my house." My tone had come out stern but not loud and anger-filled.

She chuckled lightly, only infuriating me further,

I felt like throwing her out of my house, but was also very curious to know what she had to say.

"When I heard you got married to Eri, I did some research about her," when she noticed my brows draw further, she quickly added, "you know just to ensure your safety."

The thought of her researching irritated me, but I offered a curt nod, which seemed like a permission for her to continue.

"I then found out that she's an orphan. Her dad died when she was four and her mom when she was twelve."

"So?"

Her brows were pulled to a frown now. "That was thirteen years ago Don. I decided to continue my research."

"And then I came across a very beautiful photo of her mom." She reached for her purse, pulling out a photo from it.

When she handed the photo to me, an exultant smile was plastered on her lips.

I was confused at first, but when I took the photo from her and stared at the woman in the photo, my heart started racing faster.

"No." I didn't even know when that came out of my lips.

"Yes Don, Eri's mother is Catherine."

No.

That couldn't be true, no it must not be true.

"What are you saying?" My voice came out just above a whisper.

"That you killed your wife's mother, Kelvin Jones." No!
