It had been an entire frustrating week with still no signs of Eri or Hane (not that I cared about Hane. If I were to find her, Eri would obviously be close by).
I could feel myself losing it without Eri. My sanity seemed to be depreciating with each passing second.
All that ran through my thoughts all day were questions on where she could be.
She wasn't in her house or at the places I'd sent some guards to search.
The stupid driver she took along came back alone, saying she told him to just drop her off at a beach and should get going.
Of course, the beach was thoroughly searched but still no sign (and the guard was freed from his job I case you got curious).
The fact all this was my fault, made me more annoyed at myself.
"Gosh, I can't believe she's Catherine's daughter." Mom kept pacing back and forth, hands on her hip.
Violin's gaze turned to me in irritation. "I knew you'd always be a troublemaker."
Her scoff was replied by a glare from me.
This was not the time to start acting childish and stupid.
"I knew it. They have a slight resemblance." Mom started. "The first time I saw her, I just remembered Catherine."
But I didn't even see the similarities then.
Now I was suffering because of that. Eri had left me.
"Where the fuck can she be?" I muttered, raking a hand through my hair.
My irritation worsened when I noticed Darien watching a show on the TV.
Seriously?
"You should eat something at least." Mom suggested, obviously knowing that wasn't a sensible one.
Food was not in my dictionary at this moment.
What if she hasn't eaten either? What if she's not well? What if—
"No." For like the billionth time, I ran a hand through my hair.
"You're going to hurt yourself at this stage." Her tone was laced with genuine concern that I again ignored.
Turning to Darien, she added. "Please, talk him into eating. He's going to fall sick."
"He deserves it." I'd expected that from him, but hearing it only infuriated me more.
The glare I hurled his way, obviously had no effect on him as he turned back to me.
"I've been telling him for a week now to talk to her about it, but this dummy thought it best to just not talk."
I sighed in frustration. "This is not the time to put the blame on anyone."
"So now that things aren't looking good," he continued like I hadn't even talked at all, "you're expecting everyone to pamper you and support you."
My jaw clenched, same with my fist.
He really wasn't helping the situation at all.
"Shut the fuck up." I said through gritted teeth.
Obviously he didn't heed. "Now Eri found out elsewhere and is nowhere to be found. If you had just listened to me and told her earlier, things wouldn't have taken this turn."
That was enough.
The anger in me pushed me up to my feet, stomping towards him and grabbing hold of his shirt with so much force, he was pulled out of the chair he sat.
Mom and Violin screamed at me to let him go, but I ignored that.
"Shut the fuck up! That's enough." I growled. "Eri is nowhere to be found and I have no idea if she's safe or not but you're here not helping at all."
He was obviously not intimidated by the anger flowing in me. "Do you think I don't want her to be found?!"
A crease tugged at his forehead. "None of this would have happened if you had just told her the truth from the beginning! Now let go of my shirt!"
That brought me back to my senses.
"Sorry, I didn't…" I let go, falling on the chair I'd pulled him from.
"I understand."
His expression softened. "Just give her time, I'm sure she'll come back when she's calmed down and taken it all in."
I just sighed, turning to mom and Violin. "Mom, where's dad?"
Maybe I was imagining it, but I thought she exhaled a little nervously, staring at anywhere but me.
"He-He's got some work to do." She didn't sound like she was telling the truth but at that point, I didn't care about my dad but at finding Eri.
-Marc Jones-
The company's stock could have a big flop if it were to reach the public's awareness that Don's wife's mother died because our family refused to give her money to feed.
They might not have cared if she was just some random person, but she ended up being the anonymous fiancee everyone had been waiting for so of course they'd be interested.
I hated things that affected the company.
This company had been flourishing for generations to come, now someone just arrived from nowhere and might ruin all our efforts.
When my dad gave it to me, he had made me promise not to let anything bring it down.
And I wasn't going to let some female do just that.
Don might not see this as serious as I do, probably because he was stupid enough to let love bring him down.
But I won't let anything bring my company down.
Anything or Anyone.
There was a knock on my office door.
"Come in." Of course, I had that stern tone I'd been using since I took over the company.
With time, it became part of me.
The door opened and a man walked in, sauntering towards me with a bowed head.
My gaze flickered back to the files I had been sorting out. "Do you have any information?"
"We've found her whereabouts." It was obvious he was still bowing his head.
That was something every worker did when it came to me.
"Bring her to me." I ordered.
"Yes sir."
