Chapter Ten

Blair

After the cop left, it took hours for the fingerprint analysts to come out. I called Elena right after the cop left, and she rushed over here with a bag, and a bottle of vodka in her hands.

“If I’m staying here, then I’m getting drunk to do it,” she says, barging past me.

I laugh, “El, you don’t have to stay the night. I just didn’t want to be alone.”

She sets everything down and looks at me. “I’m staying,” I swear, the stubbornness of this girl.

“I’m all done, sorry about the mess. If anything comes up, we will be in contact. Thanks for your cooperation.” Elena scoffs.

“Yeah, thanks for coming three hours later! What kind of law enforcement do we have here? Where it takes an hour for someone to come out to a house, where someone broke in, and then another three for you to show up? Fucking pathetic.” Elena rants, glaring at the man. If looks could kill, he’d be a dead man.

“Ok, well like I said. We will be in touch if anything comes of this, ladies.” He nods and walks out the door. Elena comes storming past me and slams it right behind him .

She clicks the lock and looks around like someone is about to pop out at any moment. I laugh and pull my best friend into a hug; she squeezes me back tightly.

“Have you told your mom?” She pulls away, looking at me.

“No. I don’t want her to worry. I’m sure the police scared him off this time.” I lie, knowing damn well, he will come back if he wants to.

“Ok well, that’s bullshit.” She looks at me and crosses her arms.

I haven’t told her everything like him rubbing me with Alex’s fucking severed finger and threatening to fuck me with it. She would lose her fucking mind if she found out. But, I did tell her as much as I could without sharing too much. I don’t want the shadow watcher to come after her next because I can’t keep my mouth shut.

“Look, I bought some supplies. I would like to secure this place the best we can before we leave for work. I’d much rather not come back to a crazy hooded man, hell-bent on making you his fuck toy.” She shrugs, walking to the bag on the counter.

“I thought you brought clothes?” She laughs and dumps the stuff out on the counter.

“Please, I can borrow your clothes.” I roll my eyes, and she waves me off.

"I almost have your room ready," I mention, and she shakes her head.

“Sorry, but I’m not fucking sleeping in there until we get a security system in here.” I nod understanding.

I walk over to where she stands, looking at what she brought. The fearless Elena has brought new locks for my front and back doors. A few window lock bars, and some weird thing to put on my bedroom door to secure it. I shiver at the thought of him getting into my room again and I’m not able to run out, again.,

We each go outside and close the shutters and secure them with the locks she brought. When inside we somehow manage to change out the locks and program the new fob. It took a good four hours for us to figure it out. Being tipsy didn’t help our situation at all.

We secure the windows with the lock bar. And we went outside trying to pry it open with no luck. Feeling a little, better we go inside, lock the door with the two locks we added, and sit on the couch.

“Do you think you know him?” she asks biting her lip.

“I don’t know, I have never seen his face.” I shift uncomfortably.

The sudden noise of our phones going off breaks the silence. I look down and see a notification from Alex’s dad.

Boss: Hey girls, I wanted to let you know that Alex has gone to Florida on a business trip and will not be returning. He wants to try to open his own business out there. I will hire someone else tomorrow, so for now please enjoy your paid time off.

Elena reads it and looks at me. “You don’t think he ran away because some scary guy came and beat him up, do you?” she asks nervously, looking around again.

I fight back the tears that are threatening to spill. I know he is dead; his fingers were in a box. I can’t imagine my stalker letting him walk away with his life. I grab the bottle and take a swig.

“Ok, well, we are not staying here and waiting to be murdered. We are going out and bringing back some hot guys and fucking them like our lives depend on it. Maybe two guys will keep this creep from coming here,” she jumps up, pulling me off the couch.

“I… I don’t know.” My heart is in my throat, I feel sick .

His threat replays over and over in my head. I am not going to lie; he scares the shit out of me. But his touch ignites a fire in me I have never felt before. Which is fucked, because he is literally stalking me and threatening me with body parts.

“We can go eat at the Blue Moon Café, get a pizza or a sandwich. Then we can go get wasted and have a little fun. You need a little fun B, please?” She puts her hands together and puffs out her bottom lip.

I smile and shake my head, “Ok, El. But I don’t know about the guy thing, for me at least,” I gulp trying to not show my terror of what my unwanted guest might do if he finds out.

“Ok, we’ll see about that. We are going to put on the most revealing thing you own, and we are going to have fun. He doesn’t get to control you,” she says, pulling me to my room.

An hour later, we pull up to the café to eat. We went ahead and requested our normal table ahead of time. We order, a greasy pepperoni pizza and a salad. A guy at the counter keeps eyeing me, and I shift in my seat. Every so often, I find myself peering over my shoulder, afraid I am going to see a hooded man lurking in the shadows.

“Maybe that one guy is at Tiger, you know the one that was eye fucking you from across the room the last time we were here.” She wiggles her eyebrows.

“I hear he is dangerous. Dangerous means fun in the bedroom,” I choke on my water.

“Elena!” I shout and she laughs.

“I’m just saying, if given the chance, I would totally fuck Mister tall, dark, and handsome.” Placing her chin in her palms, she sighs dreamily.

I think back to the night he watched me walk out of the bar with Alex. His blue eyes watched every move I made. What was it that he said to Elena when she confronted him ?

“I apologize, ladies, I was not trying to make anybody uncomfortable. But you are a very pretty sight to lay my eyes on.”

I feel my cheeks heat up at the memory, “What are you thinking about that has you looking like that?” She waves her hand in front of my face.

“What? Nothing.” She glares at me but doesn’t push. We finish eating, and head back to the car.

We pull up to Tiger, and see its jammed pack. Stepping out, into the cool night air, a cold chill sweeps over my exposed body. “Can we stand in line like normal people for once?” I look down at my very revealing dress.

I look over my shoulder suddenly feeling eyes on me, and I gulp. I frantically look for something I know I can’t see.

My dress is black and skin-tight, with a slit running up my thigh. A strap crosses my chest near the collarbone, revealing just enough cleavage, while more straps crisscross my stomach, leaving little to the imagination. It's short, exactly as Elena wanted. I left my hair down and opted for light makeup: a simple red lip and a subtle brown smoky eye. Teetering on six-inch heels, I feel like I might break an ankle any second. “If that will get you in the club and under a man.” She shrugs, and I laugh.

“Subtle, real subtle.” She laughs, grabbing my hand to pull me towards the line of people.

We walk to the back of the line, we are only there for maybe three minutes when a man approaches us. “Excuse me ladies, but I have been told to let you guys in,” he says, turning and walking away.

We look at each other and she shrugs. “You look too hot to wait anyway.” I bite my lip.

Why would someone come all the way out here, behind the building where the line stops, to pull us? I turn around again, and nothing, but I know someone is watching me. I rush to catch up with Elena.

The huge bouncer opens the door for us, and we step in. The club is packed, and the music is loud. People are laughing and spilling drinks everywhere. We make our way to the bar and see the same guy from last night here. I can’t believe it’s only been twenty-four hours, it feels so much longer than that.

“Hello ladies, what will it be? The same as last night?” He greets us, and Elena leans over in my dress, showing her cleavage.

“Why don’t you surprise us?” She flirts and he smirks.

He walks away for a moment and then returns with two glasses of blue something. “What’s this?” I ask, and he smiles.

“I call it a hurricane, it has the ingredients to get the job done,” he shrugs, and I take a sip.

It’s actually really fruity, to my surprise, and I take a bigger drink. “Be careful with those now, they sneak up on you,” I pause when he says sneak. Is this him? No, he was taller. I shake my head to clear my thoughts.

I place money on the counter, and he shakes his head sliding it back to me. “It’s on the house,” I narrow my eyes, and he winks giving me a toothy smile.

I chug the rest of the contents in my cup, grabbing Elena’s hand, and we make our way to the dance floor.
