Chapter Twenty-Seven

Blair

My eyes are glued to Kades as he watches Wyatt behind me. I hear his phone go off, but I can’t see anything from how he is holding me. He grunts and throws the phone across the room smashing it into the wall. It startles me, I flinch, pulling my foot from Kade's grasp, and I scream from moving my leg so suddenly. “Fuck!” Wyatt pulls me into his arms, pushing the tray away from me.

“I’m sorry,” he apologizes. Tears fall from my eyes, and I nod my head. I know he didn’t mean to cause me to hurt myself. Who texted him that got him that angry? He runs his fingers through his black hair and looks at me. His eyes hold so much emotion- anger, torment, regret, fear.

The look starts to make me panic. “What is it?” I ask and he shakes his head, dismissing me.

“You promised you’d eat, so do it,” he snaps.

He wheels the tray next to me, again, and I pick up the fork and put a piece of fruit into my mouth. I know he isn’t upset with me, whatever the text said has him on edge. He walks over and whispers something to Kade, they both look at me. “Sweetheart, we will be right back.”

I go to get up, “Don’t you dare fucking move,” Wyatt commands and I freeze.

“Get your legs back on your bed and eat,” he holds my gaze and I do as I’m told.

They both walk out of the door, and I pick up my cell and dial Elena’s number.

An hour later, I hear yelling on the other side of the door, “I told you to stay home!”

“You do not own me, Kade Mathews!” I hear Elena shout.

“I do fucking own you, Elena Phillips. Get your ass back home or you will regret it.” Kade doesn’t need to yell, the threat is there all the same.

“She called me! I am not leaving until I see her.” I watch her silhouette get shoved up against the door, with a thump.

“If you don’t come with me right now, I will put a collar around your neck and drag you out like a fucking dog!” He raises his voice this time.

“I’m not leaving.” My stubborn friend might have just met her match with this one.

Kade growls, and shoves open the door, making her fall. He catches her before she can hit the ground. He spins her around to face me. He tilts his head at me and then looks at the cell phone.

“You see her?” He whispers in her ear.

“Kade,” she trembles, and he grips her waist, pulling her back into him.

“Now let’s fucking go.” His green eyes lock onto mine, and the warning there has me shrinking into the sheets.

“Elena it’s ok, go.”

She stomps on his foot, and he grunts letting her go, she steps away, and turns around to face a pissed-off-looking Kade. I gulp .

He snarls as he walks towards her. “She’s my best friend.” She steps back and nearly falls onto my bed.

Wyatt enters and sees the scene in front of him, his eyes go to Elena. “Why the fuck are you here?” He yells, making us both jump.

“I called her.” I stumble over my words. The look on his face has me wishing the earth would open up and swallow me whole.

Kade reaches out and grabs her throat and pulls her to him. “We are leaving,” he yells in her face.

He picks her up and throws a pissed-off Elena over his back.

“Kade, I swear to fucking god if you do not put me down!”

“Blair, it's not safe for you or anyone close to you to be out roaming right now. Having Elena come here put her in danger, and it put you in danger too. Calling her is one thing but bringing her here sets both of you up for something bad to happen. Elena will be safe at my house, but she'll be MIA for a few days because I'm chaining her to my fucking bed." Kade smacks her ass and she yelps.

She punches him in the back in response. “I… I’m sorry.” Guilt pulls at my insides, I didn’t even think about putting her in danger.

“I get it, you’re scared and alone, but Wyatt just got another text, and we need to keep you two safe,” he says and winks at me. I have no idea what that means. Text? Who is texting him?

“I’m not mad at you, sweetheart.” Elena screams frustrated.

“I told her ass not to leave but she didn’t listen, now she will have no choice. I’ll be back.”

“Yeah, take her home. I’ll deal with Blair.” He responds, but his eyes are locked onto mine and I am too terrified to look away. You know, I don’t want to poke the bear- again. Kade glances at me one more time and then walks out of the door.

I scoot back, resting my head on the pillow, and let my eyes close. I sense him moving beside me, but I'm too afraid to open my eyes. His breath brushes against my ear as he leans in close. “Someone is trying to take you from me,” his voice low and intense.

“Whoever hit us knew you were with me. I got a text right before it happened. I won't let anyone take you from me.” His declaration sends my heart fluttering, mixing terror with a strange sense of security.

I feel the bed dip and flashes of him bleeding in the car come to mind. I bite back the scream that wants to erupt from my throat. “I will not let that fucking happen, but I need to take precautions and I would like it if you didn’t fight me on this.” I open my eyes and look at him.

“I’m going to put a tracking device in you.” My eyes nearly pop out of my head.

“I’m sorry, what?” He sighs and grabs my hand.

“I need you to do this for me. It will not hurt, but I need to do this. Elena is getting hers now,” he admits, and I feel like my throat is closing.

A tracking device? Meaning he is afraid someone will take me, and he wouldn’t be able to find me if I didn’t have it. The thought of someone else putting their hands on me makes me feel sick. “Ok.” He looks at me.

“I’ll do it.” he sighs and kisses my head.

“I was going to do it with or without your permission but, thank you for agreeing.” I roll my eyes. I knew he would so why fight it?

Jamie walks in with some papers and a happy smile on her face .

“I have some great news- you are cleared to go home. There are some restrictions just until you are fully healed. Like, don’t walk without help until your strength is back. Eat and rest as much as possible. Remember that you suffered major injuries, don’t push yourself too hard too fast, ok?”

“I won’t, thank you.” I smile.

She hands Wyatt some papers and I won’t lie it kind of pisses me off. I’m sitting right here, this is my life, my body, like damn let me have my own papers. I reach my hand out and he looks at it like it’s a foreign object.

“Wyatt, let me see the papers please.” He meets my glare.

“Why?” I want to throw something at his big stupid head!

“What do you mean why? Because I’m twenty-one years old and I want to see my own damn hospital papers.” My fists clench at my sides and he chuckles.

He hands me the papers and I scan over them. Two prescriptions are given, one a pain reliever and the other I’m not sure what it is.

“What’s this?” I hold it out for him to see.

“It’s to help you sleep.” I sigh.

“I’m fine.” He leans in and kisses my head.

“I never said you weren’t.”

I hate when he is being nice. It makes it almost impossible to be mad at him. I roll my eyes and he growls, gripping my cheek. I gasp at his roughness.

“Little Dove, do I need to remind you what happens when you roll your eyes at me.” All my fight disappears when I meet his hard blue eyes.

“N… No.” I remember full well what happens and I would prefer not to be punished right now. So much for him being nice.

He pulls my mouth to his and kisses me, letting go of my chin. “I’m taking you home.” I nod, not really knowing what else to do .

“Hey, here’s my number. You call me if this one doesn’t know what minimum means, or if you just want to talk. You’ll need friends that understand what you are going through. So please, call or text me whenever.” Jamie’s voice is sincere and so kind. She has been nothing but understanding and friendly- I would love another friend.

“Thank you, Jamie. As soon as I’m allowed to have my phone back,” I shoot Wyatt a dirty look, “I will text you.” Wyatt smirks and gives her a toothy smile. She narrows her eyes but doesn’t push him about it. He took my phone when Elena and Kade left, guess I’m under house arrest now.

He helps me get dressed and I slowly and painfully make my way to the wheelchair by the door. Moving has helped me regain some feeling in my legs. It doesn’t hurt as badly as it did before. When I look at Wyatt, I can see the guilt in his eyes, watching me be in pain. He’s hiding something from me, but I don’t want to push. They said someone is after me, but why? What have I ever done to deserve this?

I overheard Kade, Wyatt, and Dr. Remus discussing what I went through. I died twice. If the piece of glass had been just a centimeter off, it would have punctured my heart, and I would have been beyond saving. My wrist was shattered, and my entire right side was crushed. My lung collapsed, explaining why I could barely breathe. Sedating me was the best option; with my injuries and the nightmares, I could have unintentionally harmed myself. I remember waking up sometimes and screaming, lost and confused, unable to distinguish reality from memory. So, I'll let him have this moment. I'm sure it was hell for him for five weeks, just as it was for me watching his bloodied, unconscious body in the car.

I sit down in the wheelchair, and we make our way through the hospital, Dr. Remus stops us on our way out. “I’m glad you are going home, Blair. But you still need help, so please do not overdo it.” He smiles at me.

“Wyatt, a word?” Wyatt nods.

“I’ll be right back,” he pushes me by the nurse’s station where Jamie is.

“When it comes to them and their business, it’s best we stay out of it. Trust me, I tried to insert myself in Kaleb’s and well it landed me with this.” She pulls down her shirt a bit.

I gasp and reach for it, “He put a collar on you?” I clench my legs at the thought of Wyatt doing that to me.

She laughs,” Yep, and now if I go too far away from where I am supposed to be it alerts him and sends a shock right down to my,” she points down, and my mouth falls open.

She shrugs like it’s just another day for her. “That’s crazy Jamie.”

“I ran from Kaleb and when he found me, he swore I’d never get away from him again. And well, he is right. Plus, I love him, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. They are dominant men who like to show off their possessions. It’s nothing but a big pissing contest that they are all a part of. If someone messes with one of us, they all take it personally.” She nods towards the men talking.

“My advice is to not fight it, they always win, and do we really want to fight it? No, the answer is no. Because women like you and me crave to be owned and loved. I can see it the way he looks at you and the way your body reacts. Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. We are all in the same boat.” I give a small laugh because she’s right.

“You call me if you ever need anything. Even if it’s just to vent.” My smile grows.

“Thank you.” She gently squeezes my shoulder and walks away .

“You aren’t where you’re supposed to be, Jamie.” A man steps out from behind a corner.

He walks up to her pulls her to him and plants a possessive kiss on her lips. “Sorry, Kaleb. I had her stay with Blair while I talked to Rem.” The man, Kaleb, glances at me and then at him- he nods in understanding.

“No problem. If you need me, you know where I’ll be.” He pulls Jamie with him, and they disappear into a room.

He put a collar on her. But is it so much different than a tracking device inside me? No.

“Alright, Little Dove let’s go home.” He wheels me to the elevator, and we step in when it opens.

I’m leaving for a life I may never be able to escape from. Wyatt Eden wanted to possess my heart, and I might just let him.
