His Perfect Possession (The Dominion #1)
Prologue
Hailey’s feet throbbed, and all she wanted to do was sit down and put them up. An unexpected storm raged through in the early hours, and air traffic control grounded multiple flights.
With the ever-growing line-up in front of the diner and annoyance with the delays increasing, Hailey did her best to keep everyone happy and orders flowing.
She persuaded individuals to share tables, filling every seat except two.
The lady, who’d been there for hours and giving her side-eye whenever she mentioned how busy the restaurant was, while refilling her bottomless mug with coffee, and hoping she would take the hint.
And her regular, Mister Super Sexy, who she had no intention of asking him to share his table.
Hailey wanted him to herself and, as a regular, high-paying customer, felt he deserved his own table.
One ping after another chimed throughout the room. Fingers crossed, those were the expected alerts to say flights were back on track. She swung around to see if her attractive, redheaded customer needed anything else before giving her the bill, and they collided.
The coffee pot fell from Hailey’s hand, splashing her legs and searing her flesh as she instinctively reached out to steady the redheaded woman.
“Seriously? What’s wrong with you?” She shouted at me before turning on her heel and stomped out into the hallway that led to the gates.
Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch.
Hailey’s face morphed to the same color red as her hair.
Humiliation overwhelmed her, and tears threatened to fall. Could this day get any worse?
