Chapter 61 #4
"No. Siya is perfectly fine. She only hurt her knees and elbow. The doctor has already dressed the wounds", Akansha reassured him softly before unmuting the phone.
"Take proper care of Siya, and next time call me before contacting her father. I have instructed this multiple times already. Consider this your final warning", Akansha snapped sharply at the receptionist before disconnecting.
She knew exactly why the woman had called Shaurya instead of her. Meanwhile, Shaurya still looked shaken.
He who handled crises without blinking was panicking over a small injury to his daughter.
"I'll go bring Siya home", Akansha said, handing him the phone back.
"I'll come with you."
Before she could object, he instructed Shweta to postpone his meetings, informed Mr. Sharma to handle pending engagements, and ordered Suraj to arrange security immediately.
They quickly got into the car.
"Siya was supposed to stay home today. Why did you send her to school?", Shaurya asked softly, but Akansha still caught the faint frustration beneath the worry.
She understood it came from fear, so she let it slide.
For now.
Honestly, fathers all over the world reacted the same way whenever their children got hurt. Questions started pouring out immediately.
Why did this happen?
Why were they allowed there?
Why wasn't someone watching them?
And Shaurya was no different.
"Rajnath uncle had to leave urgently. Dev and Aakriti were sleeping, so I sent Siya to school", Akansha explained.
"You could've woken them up", Shaurya muttered, worry deepening further.
"I would've if I had the power to see the future", she snapped before softening slightly at his expression. "Shaurya, kids get hurt. You can't prevent every little thing no matter how hard you try. She would've gotten hurt at home too if it was meant to happen. Calm down. Siya is fine."
He barely nodded.
"How much longer, Suraj?", Shaurya asked tensely.
"Fifteen minutes more, sir."
"Call someone from the school. I want to talk to Siya."
"The doctor texted me saying she just stopped crying. If she hears your voice now, she'll start crying again", Akansha pointed out.
Reluctantly, he agreed. The entire ride passed with a deep frown fixed on his face.
The moment they reached school, Shaurya rushed out before Akansha could stop him. She sighed internally. A school full of people definitely didn't need to witness the emotional drama between this father-daughter duo.
Still, she quickly followed him inside.
The moment Siya saw her father, she burst into tears again and clung to him tightly.
"Dadda... I got hult(hurt)... hele, hele and hele too... (here, here and here too)", Siya cried while pointing toward her injuries.
The sight of blood on her soft skin shattered Shaurya. He felt utterly helpless.
"Dadda... pain...", Siya sobbed against him.
"Oh, my unicorn... don't cry, please... you'll be fine... the pain will go away, I promise", Shaurya whispered, sounding more like he was convincing himself.
"Siya bear... show mumma", Akansha said softly.
The moment Siya saw her mother, she jumped into Akansha's arms and buried her face into her neck.
"Mama bear...", she sobbed quietly.
Akansha soothed her patiently, telling her how brave and strong she was. Gradually, Siya calmed down while listening to her mother. Shaurya joined in with his own explanation. He told Siya that magical unicorns received extra powers only after proving their courage through small tests and injuries.
Siya's tear-filled eyes widened immediately with curiosity.
Once Siya finally settled down, Shaurya carried her back toward the car while Akansha followed after throwing one final glare at the receptionist.
After speaking to the doctor personally and confirming there was no risk of infection or serious injury, they finally left.
"I'll quickly make apple juice for her", Akansha said while walking toward the kitchen after reaching home.
Shaurya nodded and carried Siya to their room. He tried making her lie down properly, but she insisted on sleeping over him instead, clinging to him tightly.
So he adjusted carefully and let her rest against his chest.
"Dadda...", Siya pouted sadly.
"Yes, bacha... is it hurting?", Shaurya asked gently while neatly clipping back the loose strands of her hair.
"Yes, Dadda..."
Shaurya softly blew air over her bandaged wounds as though that alone could remove her pain.
Then suddenly—
"Dadda, can I get a puppy? Pwease(Please)?"
Shaurya froze.
He had promised earlier that he would "talk to mumma" about getting one someday, but he had carefully avoided timelines because he knew how terrified Akansha was of dogs.
But right now? His injured daughter was lying on his chest with tears in her eyes. And all his common sense abandoned him.
"Okay... I'll get you one after convincing mumma. Soon", he surrendered.
"When?", Siya asked excitedly. Shaurya immediately regretted opening his mouth. "Tomollow? (Tomorrow)?"
And before his brain could intervene—
he nodded.
The next second, he shut his eyes dramatically, fully prepared to be sacrificed like a goat before his wife's anger.
