Chapter 36

Karpathos, Greece – Kayla

A few days later, and we finally dock on Karpathos, Greece. Jack and I have continued our flirtations, and mostly in the kitchen when I help him cook the meals, if I’m not busy attending to duties actually associated with my job, of course.

But the sexual tension that has built itself up between us is insane, and I cannot wait for him to get what I hope will be a clean bill of health from the doctor.

As for Molly, I’m not sure how he did it, but he secured her a plane to meet us in two days’ time. However, knowing that she may be taking up a lot of my time, especially if the whole thing with Captain Bryant doesn’t pan out, means the sooner the better for Jack to get tested.

Him practically running off the yacht proves to me that he agrees, and my cheeks get flush at the sight.

Callie also catches onto it. “Excuse me? Where’s the local STD clinic?” she whispers jokingly at me.

I laugh but inside I’m like, “No, seriously? Where is it?”

As usual, Captain Bryant takes charge after we’re all on land again, and he explains that some of us are going to be staying at a place called Althea Karpathos while others are booked in villas at a different place called Two Goats.

“Both are just as nice as the other, but neither had the space or availability to take all of us.”

Fortunately, Callie, Molly, and I are grouped together into the “Suite” in Althea. I’ve already told my new friend about my older one, and she seems excited to meet her. I know they are going to hit it off.

Then, we’re told Captain Bryant and Jack will be staying in the “Traditional Suite” in our same location. I’m not exactly sure how the “suites” differ other than perhaps allowing for different amounts of people to stay in them.

But I really don’t listen for the other room assignments because I don’t necessarily care. However, with sharing rooms, I know it’s not like we’ll be able to be intimate on site anyway unless we get lucky and everyone else is preoccupied.

Next, my mind is completely distracted when I take in the beauty around me. The water is crystal clear and as blue as could be. And the houses, which seem to have been built along the nature terrain and makeup of the island are gorgeous and colorful.

“Ready to check in?” Callie asks after arriving at our hotel.

“For sure!”

We’re led up to it, and we both drop our bags once we see how decadent it is.

“All of this?” My mouth is going dry. “For us?”

“I call the one with the canopy!” Callie declares before going to jump on it.

That leaves me to tip the man who helped us in Euros, but that’s fine. After he leaves, I similarly test out the one Molly and I will be staying in.

Overall, the room is white, breezy, and whimsical.

“I can tell already I’m not going to want to leave,” I comment while still flailing around in the clean linens.

“Right?” she says, lifting her head up.

The next thing I want to try out is the wooden chair hanging from the ceiling. It faces outside and toward the sea.

“Oh, my god. It’s just beautiful.”

“My turn, my turn.” she hurries me off it. I instead take a seat on the couch nearby.

“This is insane.” I can hardly believe the two gorgeous rooms I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in during this trip.

Spinning around, Callie asks, “So, how quickly are you going to jump Jack’s bones if you learn he’s clean?”

I curl my toes at the mere thought of it. “Well, we have to be careful. We can’t just jump into bed together.”

She frowns. “And why not? From what you’ve told me about Molly, she seems like a cool girl, and I’m sure we can preoccupy ourselves with something in this gorgeous country while you’re fooling around with Jack.”

I take a decorative pillow and throw it at her. “Don’t say it like that.”

Then, she smiles deviously. “Sorry, would you prefer for me to say you’re going to fuck each other’s brains out?”

“Ew! No! That is so much worse.”

She sits back and smirks. “That’s what I’m saying. You have to pick your poison with these kinds of things.”

I just roll my eyes. “Whatever.”

But she then claps her hands. “Come on! Since we still don’t know if your boyfriend is infected —”

“Calliope! For Christ’s sake!” Although, I didn’t hate hearing her call him my boyfriend.

She laughs. “Sorry. Let’s go explore the beach!”

Now that I can get on board for.

However, she grimaces when she sees the light shawl I put over my pink bathing suit. “Girl, we’re in Greece!”

“So?” I cover myself up even more with my arms.

She pulls it by the end and over my head before I can even protest. “We’re in Greece,” she then repeats. Next, she bounces my boobs up and down in her hands. “If there’s any place to show these puppies off, it’s here!”

“Hey!” It’s almost disgusting how similar she and Molly are.

“Come on!” she starts running out of the room. “Last one out is a rotten egg.” Of course, she takes my shawl with her so I can’t put it back on.

So, with reckless abandonment, I start after her—hoping to god my breasts stay covered as they bounce.

Eventually, I gain on her and even take the lead, but that’s before I think I hit a wall or building. Thankfully, when I get my bearings, I see it’s something much more pleasant—it’s Jack.

“Oh, it’s you.” He’s still holding onto both of my arms. I reach up and push some hair out of my face.

He smiles. “It’s me. We keep meeting like this,” he says, referring to the time in Fort Lauderdale when I smacked into him in a random alley way. “Um,” he coughs, “you’re looking…”

“Half naked?”

Jack looks down and smiles. “Something like that.”

“Haha,” Callie vocalizes as she runs past.

I give her the evil eye, and I want to kill her.

Finally releasing me, he awkwardly says, “Um, so I was just at the clinic.”

“Oh, right.” I’m still trying to catch my breath after all that exercise. “And?”

He claps his hands together in front of his body. “They’ll know in a few days.”

“A few days. Right.”

Then, he looks around before taking my hand. “But after that, I’ve found a rather secluded beach.”

My lord. This man is drop dead gorgeous, I think as the sun shines in his dark eyes and against his brown hair, almost making it look red in certain parts.

“Oh, yeah.”

“Mhm.” He brings his lower lip to my knuckles and softly grazes each one.

I feel a heat between my legs, and I cross them in an effort to stop it.

“Uh, where—where’s that?”

“The Karpathos Diakoftis Beach.”

“Ah. Alright.” As if that means anything to me.

He then leans closer and whispers in my ear, “Once this is all behind us, I can’t wait to take you right then and there in the sand. With nobody watching but God himself.”

There’s that cursed yet delightful feeling beneath my pelvis again.

However, before he can say anymore, we’re interrupted when Denver and Gwen come running up.

“How’s it going?” Denver asks before seeing that Jack is still in his normal clothes. “Come on, boss,” he says, tapping him on the shoulder. “You don’t have a meeting with Yannis until tomorrow. Go get in your suit and join us!”

When they scurry away, Jack and I remain.

“Well?” I have mixed emotions. I’d love for him to have fun with all of us, but I’m also not sure how I’d control myself with him in a bathing suit—his strong muscles on full display. I might just go crazy.

“I wish I could, but I have some notes to go over before the big meeting.”

“Right.” But then it hits me. “Does that mean more work with Harper?”

He rolls his eyes. “Unfortunately.”

With the others gone, he’d taken my hand again, but I ripped it away now.

“Kayla—”

“You’re on an entire island of people who can speak Greek, but you need to video conference with her… her. Why?”

He opens his mouth but all he can utter is, “I—”

“Whatever. Have a nice day,” I say with bite before walking past him.

He calls after me a few times, but I just ignore him.

Screw you.
