Chapter 30 #2

Kian had been so obsessed with him even back then. That’s why he’d lost it and forced Sky’s presentation the night he’d been ordered to leave the planet.

“You’ve done a lot of awful things to me,” Sky told him.

“But you’ve done a lot of good things for me, too.

I told you I want this to work, and I meant it.

My parents are returning from their extended vacation next month.

Will you meet them with me? I haven’t mentioned that their only son is mated now.

I’d like to tell them about the news in person. Together.”

Moving faster than Sky could keep up with, Kian grabbed him and tugged him down. He pinned him to the bed, draping his heavy form over Sky, mouth already latching onto his in a passionate, fervent kiss that had them both hard and moaning in under sixty seconds.

“Wait!” Sky tried to shove him off, but the alpha wasn’t having it. “Hey, stop! Noon said—”

“I don’t care.”

“I do!”

The alpha froze and then slowly lifted his head, brow furrowing.

Sky heaved a sigh of exasperation. “You aren’t pulling your stitches the first night. Get off.”

“No.”

“Kian. Seriously? Move.”

“Tell me you want me.”

“I want you to let me up.”

“Omega.” Kian kissed the curve of his jaw and then nuzzled the spot beneath his ear. “My omega. Be good for me. Tell me what I want to hear.”

Sky rested his hands on Kian’s hips and changed tactics. “I’m cold.”

“I’ll run you a bath as soon as you’ve said it.”

“Promise?”

“Yes.”

“Kian.” Sky waited until he’d pulled away enough to meet his gaze, those cerulean blue eyes instantly trapping him in their vibrant hue. “You’re the only alpha I’ve ever wanted.”

“You’ll move in with me? Permanently?”

“Yes.” He scrunched his nose. “But can I redecorate?”

“You can reconstruct the whole damn building if it pleases you.”

“I don’t think that will be necessary.” He’d been thinking more along the lines of filling the large bookcase built into the wall over the bed with pottery items. And maybe replacing the gray drapes with something with a little more color. “Can we get a pet? I’ve always wanted a sylar.”

“I’ll get you an entire litter.”

“Just one will do. Maybe two, so it has company whenever we’re…busy.”

The corner of Kian’s mouth quirked. “Busy?”

“Uh huh.” Sky smiled. “You promised to get up now, alpha.”

“There’s one more thing.”

“Of course there is.”

“You know what else I want to hear, Sky.”

He tipped his head on the mattress. “Even if it’s not true yet?”

Kian’s face fell, and he started to push himself up onto his knees, but this time it was Sky’s turn to show the alpha he wasn’t the only one with quick reflexes.

Sky captured the base of Kian’s skull with one hand and caught Kian’s waist between his thighs. The fingers of his free hand twisted in the material of the alpha’s shirt, and he tugged him back until their mouths were a mere breath apart.

“Since when has it been your style to give up so easily?” Sky teased. He nipped at Kian’s chin, laughing when the alpha growled. “Do you want to hear it or not?”

“Only if you’re willing to say it.” Kian searched his gaze. “Only if it’s true.”

Slowly, he pressed their mouths together, the tip of his tongue tracing the seam of Kian’s mouth. When the alpha opened for him, however, he didn’t enter. Instead, he pulled back and met his eyes one more time.

“Kian, I’ve loved you since before I even understood what love really was.

I thought when you came back as a Dominus, that I didn’t recognize you, but that wasn’t true.

It doesn’t matter what your job is or who you call family.

You’ll always be that same alpha who left umbrellas in my locker when it rained.

The one who rearranged the dinner table, so all my favorite side dishes were within reach.

” Sky kissed him again, just as gently. “You’ll always be my alpha. ”

Kian swooped him up into his arms and began carrying him to the other end of the loft.

“Wait, I can walk on my own,” Sky said. “Your injuries—”

“Let me hold you,” Kian cut him off. “I’ve waited so long to have you here, like this. I don’t ever want to let you go.”

“Okay, but you know you’re going to have to when I get into the bath, right?”

“I’ll bathe with you.”

Noon had said it was okay to get the second-skin wet, but…

Sky narrowed his eyes when he caught the familiar sly flash in Kian’s blue orbs. “We’re just bathing. Nothing more. You heard the doctor.”

“Did I?”

“Kian.”

He pushed open the door with his shoulder and walked them into the heated bathroom.

“Kian. I’m serious. We are not having sex tonight.”

The alpha deposited him on the sink counter and buried his face in the crook of Sky’s neck, taking a deep whiff of him. “Tell me again, little omega.”

“No, not until you confirm you’re not going to try to put your cock inside of me until at least the morning.”

“You want me to wait until it’s the AM? Really? You’re sure I can’t ignore Noon? My injuries don’t even hurt.” It was impossible to miss the hint of mischief in his tone, but that was probably just because he had sex on the brain.

“No. Either you agree, or I’m kicking you out and taking a bath alone.”

“Deal.” Kian was trying hard to compose himself, and for the life of him, Sky couldn’t figure out why. “Now, say it again. Complete your part of the bargain. Lock us in, baby.”

Sky rolled his eyes, opting to just go with the flow at this point. “I love you, Kian.”

“I love you too, Sky.” He smirked. “Even if you’re terrible at telling time.”

“Huh?” His head whipped over toward the lone window, catching sight of the night outside. “What are you talking about? It’s still dark out.”

Kian tapped at his multi-slate. The numbers on the screen showed it was just after two am.

“That doesn’t—” Shit. Too late, he realized Kian’s odd phrasing and why he’d chosen to say it like that. “No. No way. That’s cheating! Even if it’s AM, colloquially speaking, everyone knows the day doesn’t start until the sun begins to rise.”

“Not everyone.” Kian shrugged and turned to start the bath. “You didn’t catch it.”

“That’s not—” He slammed his mouth shut, aware that arguing was futile at this point.

So he leapt from the counter and made a run for it instead.

He didn’t even make it to the bathroom door.

But then, he hadn’t really expected to.

Kian Erskine was never going to let him go.

And Sky wouldn’t have it any other way.
