Chapter 7 Salty Green Vegetables
The moment we got home, Jiang Yu shut himself in his room.
I pressed my ear to the door and listened.
The grown man was sobbing inside.
He seemed to have held it together the whole way. Once home he completely fell apart.
When had he become so sensitive?
It was only a joke about a mistress.
I felt some regret.
I hadn't expected him to react so strongly to a casual remark.
Thankfully he didn't know I had followed him that day.
I knocked on the door.
"Husband, that was just a joke. Don't take it to heart."
The sobbing inside stopped.
I waited a while with no response. Thinking he was still sulking, I yawned and went to sleep.
The next day he returned to his cold self.
He was even colder toward me.
The food he made tasted even worse.
Tonight he stir-fried a whole table of green vegetables.
Honestly I had zero appetite.
It had been over a month without meat. Now it was all vegetables.
Was he treating me like a nun?
Looking at the table full of green, I couldn't bring myself to eat.
Seeing me motionless, Jiang Yu frowned in displeasure.
I had no choice but to take one small bite.
An overpowering salty taste hit me.
The dish was so salty it turned bitter.
Had he emptied the entire salt jar?
Yet Jiang Yu ate without any change in expression.
I held the salty mouthful, unable to swallow or spit.
After struggling for a long time I asked carefully.
"Husband, isn't this dish too salty?"
Jiang Yu didn't even raise his eyes.
"Don't you like salty food?"
"..."
I was speechless.
If he hadn't sounded so serious I would have suspected he was messing with me on purpose.
Afraid he would get upset, I gritted my teeth and finished a bowl of rice with that salt.
I thought it was over. The next day he made another table of salty green vegetables.
My face turned green at the sight.
He kept making the same dish.
