Chapter Three #2

She was right, I did need to loosen up. My mother was on my mind heavy, and I just wanted her home.

I also couldn’t focus on anything but the sexy dark aura in the booth across from us.

Out of the corner of my eye I watched him swap women like he did it for sport.

They were catering to him like he was king.

Serving him and the guy he was with. He had food and drinks scattered all over the table.

The females touched and rubbed on him like he was the cure to cancer.

Each one just wanting a piece of his attention, and yet each time I looked his way his eyes were looking directly at me.

I was flattered, turned on and irritated all at once.

He looked like a guy that plays many games and yet I was still drawn to him. How disgusting of me.

After downing the three shots plus two more I was feeling better and my confidence was out to play. My legs were crossed under the table and my foot swayed to the beat. Dangling my heel on my toes I bobbed my head to the music.

I don’t usually allow anyone to see me relaxed but tonight and all my liquid courage, I said fuck it and let my guard down slightly. I was always in control, and my uptight feelings lately had me feeling like I was losing it. This outing would be my reset to gain my control back mentally.

Autumn danced for what felt like hours. I grooved in my seat and turned down my fair share of drinks that were sent to our table. No one was brave enough to approach but their admiration was sent in the form of gifts.

By the time we were ready to go Autumn was staggering from all her shots.

I called a car to take us to my house before helping her to the door.

I had her by her elbow, but she reached for me and wrapped her arm around my waist. My body tensed and I paused to take in a sharp breath.

I love my girl dearly, but touching was a no go for me.

She would get a pass tonight though. No way I would let her stumble or embarrass herself in front of anyone.

I tightened my grip and led her to the door.

Judge William’s oldest son caught my eye and I became excited; he was definitely a piece I needed on my roster in order to get my mom out.

I looked around before doubling back and slipping my card in his pocket without him noticing.

The same tingle pricked at the hairs on my arms, and I looked up to see dark and sexy was staring a hole in me.

A girl sat in his lap grinding her hips into his pelvis from behind.

He blew a cloud of smoke out before reaching up and cupping her right breast through the thin fabric of her top never breaking our stare down.

He leaned up and whispered something in her ear.

Never stopping his caress on her body. I watched his motion, turned on by how he touched her just right causing her to close her eyes and continue her dance in his lap.

It was like she was under his spell, and it was sucking me in.

He smirked at me and I looked away quickly, my stomach slightly somersaulted and I felt a twinge of jealousy.

Exiting quickly, I made it to my awaiting car with my best friend tucked under my arm.

I don’t know who the fuck this mystery man was, but I was definitely going to stay far away from his ass.

He had me so damned turned on at something that should have been repulsing.

I shook off the thoughts and helped Autumn inside.

The ride home was pretty silent. Off and on I could hear light snores coming from Autumn. I could tell she had a good time tonight. She usually does; she is a social butterfly for sure. She was my total opposite. The yin to my yang.

The cool night air coming from the driver’s window swept over my skin and caused chill bumps to rise.

I rubbed at my skin, and it reminded me of the effect Mr. Handsome had on my body.

No man can say he gave me chills, turned me on or made me jealous.

And yet he did and I don’t even know a thing about him.

I blushed at me being slightly jealous of the girl in his lap.

Jealousy wasn’t my lane and he succeeded at making me feel like pulling her out of his lap by her hair. Lord help me.

“Hey.”

“Hey.” I looked over at Autumn. She was leaning against the seat staring my way.

“This was so much fun. Thank you for getting me out the house. I guess I needed it as much as you did. I swear I am completely in a zone when I am dancing. It’s like I become someone else.” She raised her arm lazily and waved it around.

“I am glad you had a good time. This was fun. And I am happy when you are happy, believe it or not.”

“I want you to always be happy, Blythe. Not just be happy because of me.”

“I am happy Autumn.”

“Umm mmm, nope. No, you are not. You are my best friend in the world. And you my friend are miserable.” Her words slurred but I still found myself getting upset. It stung to hear her say it. My aunt always said, a drunk tells no tales, so I know this is how she really felt.

“Tell me how you really feel.” I uttered quietly.

“I always do. I love you B. Maybe you should start looking into new hobbies. Something that makes you happy.”

“Okay.” I responded bitterly. This was the second time in a week my favorite girls were telling me to get my shit together.

“I am serious. If for no other reason. Do it for me.” She reached her hand out and we locked pinkies before touching thumbs.

A few seconds later she was snoring again.

I chuckled and refocused my attention out the window.

The rain started coming down making roaring thuds against the windows.

The windshield wipers scraped across the glass quickly.

It was damn near a flood out of nowhere and it coated the streets.

The streetlights made it look like Christmas lights glowing against the pavement.

I inhaled and exhaled deep. The smell was fresh like the city was getting cleansed and reset for a new day.

I always loved the rain. It always made me feel like a fresh start.

Maybe it was time to try something new, cleanse my soul and find my fresh start. Whatever that may be.
