Chapter Five Andres

Ellie blinked slowly before sliding her hand across the table. She touched mine, holding it, then gripping it, and I closed my eyes for a moment just to steady myself.

Fuck.

I never realized how good it would feel to have her reach for me. I wished it was for something other than this, but I would take it.

I would take it and hold on to it with both fucking hands.

“I don”t want Gary to ever have the power to threaten or hurt my son. But he”s Sammy’s father. Plus, he’s a well-known businessman. People would notice if something happened. And, Andres, I don’t want you to get in trouble.”

“Okay. Then let’s do it. Let’s get married. And you will let me deal with this for you, won’t you Ellie?”

“You would really do that?” she asked, wide-eyed and so fucking beautiful she stole my breath.

Her answer was so goddamn important to me.

I waited impatiently, my eyes fixed on her downcast face. Then, suddenly, she lifted her gaze to mine and her shoulders relaxed.

“Yes, Andres. I trust you.”

I had no idea a couple of words could mean so much to me. I closed my eyes and exhaled the breath I’d been holding.

Then I took hold of her hand once more and lifted it to my lips, kissing her knuckles.

“Then, to answer your initial question, yes, Ellie Maxwell, I”ll marry you.”
