Chapter Ten #2

“My parents and I have no relationship,” Dev revealed. “But that was the case from the moment I chose football instead of an academic career. We never got along anyway, so it didn’t matter much to me.”

Dev had turned pale under his dark stubble, and from how Brody took his hand and laced their fingers together, I gathered family was a delicate topic for him as well.

“My momma loves Dev like her own. She sorta figured I wasn’t straight when I never had any girlfriends, but it was still scary as hell coming out to her. I’m lucky because she’s the most loving and accepting person I know.”

“Ms. Faith is the mother I never had,” Dev murmured, and Brody kissed his cheek again. “I love her,” he said, so simply, my heart turned over.

“I’m afraid it won’t be so smooth between my mom and me. But I can’t live my life for her. I’ll figure out a way to make it work.” Harte held me closer, and I leaned into him, grateful for his support.

“You’ve got family and friends behind you.” Dev fixed me with that fierce glare he’d been famous for while playing. “You deserve to be happy.”

“Let’s have a toast.” Brody raised his beer. “To new friendships.”

We clinked bottles, and I admired their richly decorated home. “You guys really like Christmas.”

“That’s what happens when your husband is a kid at heart.” Brody smirked, and Dev pouted.

“I love all the corny holiday stuff.” Dev grew thoughtful. “I swore when I had my own home, I’d do it up big.”

Harte set his bottle on the table. “We’re gonna go to my place and decorate my tree tonight, then Jet’s tomorrow after he finishes his tour. And I finally got my own wheels, so I’ll be picking it up tomorrow. Listen, you two, I want to talk to you about something.”

Harte explained to Dev and Brody about Pete and Leah’s sick little girl and how she needed her medical bills taken care of. I watched as Dev picked up his phone and made a call.

“Trick? Yeah, it’s me. Listen. I have a favor to ask.

” He outlined what Harte had told him, and after a few minutes, ended the call with a satisfied smile.

“Okay. Patrick works with Hearts and Hands, an organization that helps families with sick children. He’s going to arrange for them to cover Emily’s medical expenses, as well as transportation to and from treatments.

Whatever they need. And if they don’t pick up the entire cost, Brody and I will. Tell your friend not to worry.”

“Damn right.” Brody placed a fist to his heart. “When it comes to sick kids, we don’t mess around.”

“Count me in as well. We’re all going to pitch in to help,” Harte added. “We’ve got Emily covered.”

My jaw dropped. “Are you serious? My God, that’s…I don’t know what to say.” A few minutes and one phone call had changed a family’s life forever.

“That’s what friends do.”

On the ride to Harte’s, I couldn’t stop talking about Dev and Brody. “You were so right. They’re amazing. So warm and friendly. I felt like I’ve known them for years.”

“I’m glad,” Harte said, pulling out his keys as I parked in his driveway. “Now can we stop talking about them? Because I’ve been dying to fucking kiss you from the moment you picked me up at the train station.”

We got out of my SUV, and Harte muscled me against the door, caging me between his arms and powerful thighs.

Surprised by his forcefulness, I was a hundred percent on board and met his bruising kiss with equal intensity.

Harte held my chin and took my mouth, his tongue plundering, and I sucked on it with a greedy hunger that swept through me until I was shaking.

“Fuck, Harte, you’ve got me ready to explode. If you don’t stop, I’m gonna get naked right here, and that’ll freeze my balls off.”

“Hell, no. I have plans for them tonight.”

He grabbed my hand, and we ran up the stairs and into the house, where Harte dragged me into the bedroom. We stripped in minutes flat, and I barely had time to breathe before Harte had me spread eagled on the bed, his head between my legs.

“Ever since you did it to me, I’ve been wanting to return the favor. Wanna eat you up alive.”

“Oh fuck, baby, that’s amazing.”

His tongue teased my rim, the wet, sloppy sounds a turn-on like I’d never imagined. When he stuck his wet thumb in past the tight muscle, I groaned. I wanted Harte’s big dick inside me.

“Want you so bad,” Harte muttered as he massaged my hole and I rolled my hips. “I’m so fucking hard for you, I can’t even touch myself.”

“Fuck me,” I begged, lifting my ass, pushing on his wicked fingers. “Give me your dick.”

Harte bent to press a kiss to my leaking cock. “Yeah? I-I’ve never done it.”

“But you want to?”

He nodded, his gaze so lustful and hungry, I had to squeeze my shaft to keep from coming on the spot.

“Do it.” I pushed a pillow under my hips. “I can’t wait either.” I grasped my dick again and began to tug and pull at it, picking up copious precome to ease my strokes. “Please.”

Harte rolled on a condom and poured on a ton of lube over his shaft and my hole. He nudged the head of his cock in past my rim, and it slid in easily. Soon he was thrusting and rolling his hips, pounding me into the mattress.

“Oh, fuck me, you’re so goddamn tight and hot.” The slick sounds of our bodies moving together played like music. I couldn’t stop touching his muscular torso, up past the deep V of his hips and ridged abs, and stopped at his nipples to play with the hard, red points.

“Yeah, yeah,” he moaned and lifted my legs to penetrate me farther. “So good. So good.” His face was a mask of pure pleasure as he continued to wreck me, body and soul.

“Harte,” I cried out, and held on to his sweaty shoulders as he fucked me on his thick cock. “Oh, dammit. Fucking hell.”

My dick was trapped between our writhing bodies, and I burst apart, spraying come everywhere. Harte exploded a moment later, pumping me full of his hot, sticky release. He lay panting on top of me, his heart pounding as frantically as mine.

“Jet?” He kissed me, his lips moving against my cheek.

“Hmm?” I was sleepy, my body still trembling and buzzing from that incredible orgasm. I had no intention of moving for a long time. The tree could wait. I’d already gotten the best present this holiday season.

“It might be quick, but…I love you. I’m not saying it to make you feel like you have to say it back, but I’ve never felt like this before, and—”

I grabbed him around the neck and pressed my lips to his. “Shh. I love you too. I’ve been thinking about it for days now. I know what and who I want, and it’s you and me. Together. Forever.”

Harte kissed me, and though I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, nothing and no one was going to come between us.
