Chapter 35 Zhuri
thirty-five
Zhuri
The morning sun peeks in from behind the curtains, and once my eyes adjust, I take in my surroundings.
I’m in Cameron’s room, still lying naked in his bed, and his arm is wrapped around me, holding me close.
Last night really happened.
I let myself give in to what I wanted without worrying about my image, and it was one of the best nights of my life.
I feel freer than I ever have, and looking at a still-sleeping Cameron with the sun highlighting the tan skin of his face has my heart skipping a beat.
This man has been calling me beauty in a language I don’t understand for two months. As soon as he was out of earshot last night, I knew I had to ask Petar, or I’d never know.
I just never expected ljepota to mean something so sweet.
I went up to his pool deck last night already knowing exactly what was going to happen. That once he admitted to the meaning, I wouldn’t be able to fight it off anymore, this pull between us. We were going to kiss, and after we did, I was going to end up in his bed.
It was worth it.
Cameron seems so at peace right now.
I look at him intensely, seizing my opportunity to do it without having to quickly avert my gaze like I used to.
His chocolate-brown hair is mussed up from me running my hands through it when he had his head between my legs. His back has light scratches from when I ran my fingers down it while he was inside me.
My favorite thing of all, though, is that he just looks so… content. Unworried. Happy.
It makes him even more devastatingly handsome than usual.
My heart swells with my own happiness at knowing that I helped give him this. After everything he’s gone through, Cameron deserves all the happiness in the world.
I’m just grateful he’s finding it with me.
He stirs now, and when his eyes flutter open and land on me, the first thing he does is smile. “Good morning, Z.”
“Good morning, Cam.” I lean up and place a soft kiss on his lips. “How did you sleep?”
Cameron wraps me up tightly and pulls me even closer. “Slept better than I ever have.”
“Ever, huh?”
“Mhmm,” he murmurs, pushing my hair out of my face. “I got to hold you all night. It’s the best sleep I’ve ever had.”
“I slept pretty well myself,” I smile. “Turns out your chest makes a very comfortable pillow.”
He chuckles lightly. “I’ll happily be your pillow anytime you want. How are you feeling this morning, though?”
“Sore as fuck,” I laugh. “But that’s to be expected after you impaled me with your gigantic dick last night.”
He cocks his eyebrow in amusement. “Gigantic?”
I wave him off. “You know exactly how big that thing is, Cameron. It’ll be a miracle if I can walk today.”
Cameron squeezes my ass and brushes his lips over mine. “You’re going to be just fine, baby. You know why?”
“Why?”
“Because you were made for me,” he says softly, almost nervously. “We’re a perfect fucking fit.”
I can’t help but smile, so absolutely captivated by everything Cameron is. “Perfect fit,” I repeat.
His inked arm flexes as he moves it, bringing his hand to my face so he can stroke his thumb over my cheek. He looks at me in pure reverence, and no one else has ever looked at me the way he does. I melt under his touch, and I realize that he has me falling for him heart-first.
But I know he’s diving right along with me.
“You are so goddamn beautiful, Zhuri.”
His caramel eyes sparkle as he watches me smile. “I feel beautiful when you look at me the way you do.”
“I can’t help but look at you that way. I’m fucking obsessed with you.”
I lazily run my hand up and down his taut, muscular arm. “Obsession isn’t always bad.”
“No, it isn’t,” he rasps, “because I think obsessing over you is one of the best things I’ve ever done.”
My smile is so damn wide. “I really like being with you, Cam.”
“The feeling is mutual.” He takes my lips in a sweet and tender kiss. “Should we talk about what… this… is?”
I kiss him again. “What do you want this to be?”
Cameron lets out a wary and nervous breath. “I just…” he starts before trying again. “I can’t be casual with you. If this is just a fling to you, we should stop now. I won’t risk my career for a fling, but I will risk it for you.”
Warmth blooms through me. “Are you trying to say you want me to be your girlfriend, Kovacic?”
“I’m so bad at this,” he laughs, and I laugh with him. “Yes. I don’t want casual. I want so much more. I need you to be mine.”
I press our foreheads together. “We’ll have to keep this secret.”
“I know.” He swallows thickly. “But I don’t care. I can’t stand the thought of seeing you every day at practice without knowing that you’re mine when no one else is around.”
“Cameron,” I smile softly. “I told you last night that I was yours. I meant that. I didn’t give in for this to be a one-time thing because I knew that would never be enough for either of us. I’m all in on this.”
He lets out the biggest sigh of relief with the brightest smile on his face. “I guess that would also make me your boyfriend.”
I can’t help but tease him. “That is how relationships work, yes.”
“Brat,” he huffs, tickling my sides until I’m squirming on top of him.
The movement has me brush over his dick, and he lets out a soft groan as I feel him starting to grow hard.
I start crawling backward down the bed, Cameron’s eyes black with lust, until we’re interrupted by a knock at his door.
I turn toward the direction of the sound. “Are you expecting someone?”
“Fuck,” he groans, palms pressed to his eyes. “I forgot I told Sid I’d go on a run with him this morning.”
My eyes go wide. “Sidney is here?”
Cameron sits up and scrubs a hand down his face. “I’ll get rid of him.”
He quickly stands up and pulls on a pair of athletic shorts before dashing out of the bedroom.
Our teammate is here after we hooked up.
A teammate who knows that was very much not allowed to happen.
Fuck.
