Rough Ride

When dealing with a collared brat, putting them in a predicament can be an effective method to tame them because the severity of their punishment is entirely up to them.

OLbrIC AND I FINISH dinner before we head back up to my room.

We place our packs under an illusion before we carefully carry them downstairs.

Dinner’s still going, and folks don’t so much as look our way as we cross the atrium while doing our best to pretend like we’re not carrying a couple extra stone of weight.

We dip into the back yard and head to the stables. Symon has Tara in the crossties for a hoof trim, but he looks up as we approach. “Evening, you two,” he says over the steady sound of a rasp. “Need to take someone out?”

“Just grabbing Mo and Valar for a quick ride,” I say. “See what the leaves are doing.”

“Oh, aye, they’re beautiful right now,” Symon says. “Can you handle tacking them up on your own?”

“‘Course, you got your hands full,” I say, happy to leave him to his task. “Thanks, Symon.”

I meet Olbric’s grin with a wink before I go to collect Mo. He’s munching his dinner, but he doesn’t seem to mind much as I halter him and get him ready. When I sling the saddle onto him, I toss my pack on with it, resting it over the seat. If Mo notices the extra weight, he doesn’t even flinch.

Once we’re ready, Olbric and I lead the horses out into the courtyard. Tonight, Teagan is on duty, and she tosses us a smile as we approach.

“Where you two heading?” she asks.

“Got a hot date,” I say with a meaningful look at Olbric. “Though if you wanna play hooky...” I add, letting the offer dangle.

Teagan laughs, and I like that her freckled face flushes even worse than mine does. “Cute, but no,” she says before she drops the bridge for us. “Get going, and have fun. But be back by sunset. If you’re not back by the shift change, I have to hang around, and I want to get home on time tonight.”

Out of the corner of my eye, Olbric stumbles, as if an invisible pack just slipped off his saddle to bump against him. I stop Mo in front of Teagan, casually blocking Olbric from view.

“Oh yeah? Fun plans?” I ask as I pat Mo’s neck.

Teagan’s lips purse against a smile. With the way she looks at me, I’d wondered if she would be the guard I could get a kiss from, but looking respectfully seems to be about as far as she’s willing to go. At least she’s looking at me and not Olbric as he gets his pack resecured.

“Not as fun as yours,” she says, amused. “Tonight’s my first night off in a week, and I’d like to go enjoy it.”

“Thora’s working you all too hard,” I tsk. I glance at Olbric, who flashes me a discreet thumbs up. “You sure you don’t want to stick around after your shift? Bet we could give you an enjoyable night.”

“Goodbye, Dominai,” Teagan chuckles, rolling her eyes. “Be back by sunset before the shift change.”

“Alright, alright! I hear you,” I say with a wave before I follow Olbric across the bridge.

The bridge closes behind us, and I spare a glance to be sure no one’s paying any attention through the loophole before I shift the invisible pack onto Mo’s haunches. It’s a trick to securely tie it without being able to see it but I manage before I mount up.

“Nice save,” Olbric mutters as he gets settled on Valar. “Though if you end up winning that bet, Cancassi’s going to be furious.”

“Don’t know how I could,” I chuckle. “Unless it’s still going when we get back.”

Olbric doesn’t answer, and when I turn to look back at him, his expression is miles away.

“You okay?”

“I - yes. Just wondering about that assignment.” Olbric shifts in his saddle before he says, “We should try and leave as early as possible, just to be safe. Do you know what time they normally drop the bridge to let staff in?”

“Early,” I say. “A bit before first bell, I think.”

“Then let’s aim to be across it the second it’s down,” Olbric says.

I’m already walking on a razor’s edge between excitement and uncertainty, but something in his voice tips me towards the latter. The silence stretches between us before I ask, “Do you still want to go?”

Olbric scoffs as he nudges Valar to walk beside me. “Dom, I wasn’t lying when I said that you need to do this.”

“I need to do this,” I say, meeting his eyes. “Not you.”

Olbric averts his gaze, and my hopes sink. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t having second thoughts, but I’d feel a lot worse if you went off on this alone.” He casts me a soft smile. “I’m with you.”

My chest unlocks to let me breathe, and for a moment, I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude that I can’t find the words. “Have I told you how much I love you recently?”

Operation Homecoming is no small ask. I get that. I teeter between a giddy sort of excitement and crushing doubt so quickly it makes me wonder if I really am losing my mind. But knowing that Olbric’s with me has bolstered me.

Olbric chuckles and says, “You might’ve mentioned it. And I love you too.”

We dip into the tree line and go for about a mile before I pull us to a stop.

On our last ride, I saw a promising hiding spot under the remnants of an old cottonwood stump, right at the first fork.

As I dismount and get a closer look, my hunch is right.

Under the exposed roots, some creature has dug a burrow that’s large enough to store our packs.

We get everything settled before Olbric releases an abjuration to keep it safe for the night. Looking at our gathered stash, reality truly sinks in.

“Alright,” I say, dusting my hands off. “Only thing left to get Operation Homecoming on the road is to get up early, get the perishables from the kitchens, and take the horses for one more ride.”

Olbric hums before he hooks his fingers over the waist of my trousers, pulling me forward until my crotch bumps his. “I hope you’re planning on doing something to get all of this... excited energy out of me.”

I can’t stop a laugh before I pull him close, one finger toying with the end of his ponytail. I casually twist it around my hand before I pull it tight, earning a gasp as I force his head back with a stern tug.

“I think I can manage that,” I purr. “Better hurry home, beautiful. Because if I beat you through the gates, I beat your ass red tonight.”

His grin is full of fire, even though that tell-tale haze has glazed his eyes. “All the more incentive to lose, then.”

I release him before I swing back up onto Mo. “You won’t be saying that after an hour in the saddle tomorrow,” I say before I kick Mo to a run. Behind me, Olbric swears and scrambles back onto Valar, but I’ve already taken off down the trail.

I’m no expert rider, but my head start gives me just enough of an edge to beat Olbric back through the gates. Teagan watches with mild amusement as we come barreling past.

“Told you we’d make it back on time!” I call, and I hear her laugh before I steer Mo back to the stables. We get the horses taken care of before letting Symon know we’ll be taking them out again first thing in the morning.

Then, by some silent agreement, Olbric and I head to his room.

My pulse is already racing, and I barely let Olbric through the door before I grab him. My hand finds his throat, and he gasps as I pin him to the wall, capturing his lips in a scalding kiss. He squirms, but I choke his quiet whimper off as I tighten my grip on his neck.

“What did I tell you I was going to do if I beat you home?” I purr.

Olbric’s cock is already hard, and I press myself a little more intentionally against him. His voice is choked as he says, “You said you were going to beat my ass red.”

“And I sure am. The question is, how do you want me to deliver that ass beating?”

Olbric’s breathless chuckle makes my pulse sing. “Is this where I’m supposed to be a good girl and tell you ‘whichever way you want?’”

I lift off of him before I spin him roughly, pinning him chest-first against the wall. “Cheeky. So what I’m hearing is that you want to be sore the whole trip to Airedale.”

Olbric lets out a nervous laugh. “Nonono! No need for that.”

I chuckle as I reach around to loosen the laces of his trousers, pushing them down over the swell of his ass. “You sure? Because I feel like if you didn’t want me to spank you all the way up the mountain, you’d already have your clothes off.”

The second I release him, Olbric strips, tugging his shirt up and off before pushing his trousers the rest of the way down.

He nearly trips getting his boots off, and as he turns to face me, I realize his hair has come loose in his hurry.

I smirk as I brush a strand over his shoulder, feeling him tremble under my touch.

“Now that’s more like it.” I reach down to tease the tip of his hardening cock. “On your knees, beautiful.”

Olbric does as he’s told for once, kneeling prettily on his rug. I nudge his knees apart with one foot until he’s properly splayed before my thumb traces the bow of his lower lip. I can’t stop a shiver of my own as he draws it into his mouth, sucking gently.

The road up the mountain can get rough in spots, so I don’t want to make him too sore, but there’s still plenty of things I can do.

“Stay,” I order, pulling my finger from his mouth.

Over time, we’ve pilfered a small collection of supplies from our casting rooms with the full intention of returning it all...

eventually. It makes it so I don’t have to go hunting as I gather a length of rope before picking out a thick phallus to keep him occupied.

Olbric watches me with wide eyes before I grab him, not giving him a chance to argue with me as I fold his arms, tying him wrist to bicep. It leaves his hands by his shoulders, and I slip a few focuses onto his fingers before I let him be.

He’s breathless already. Anticipation has him toeing the line of conspace, but I intend to send him careening into it headfirst.
