Chapter 18
“Mannn, Nyla and Jada beat the fuck out Londa and her cousin, look at this shit.” Tyzir laughed while standing in the kitchen of the trap.
“I don’t wanna see that shit.”
“You mad yo bitch got beat up?”
“Fuck her. I’m mad that bitch introduced me to her cousin without telling me she was into it with Nyla. I feel like she here to set my sister up.”
“Or you. I don’t trust Londa’s ass, she give me set up bitch vibes.”
“She ain’t suicidal or crazy enough to get the city painted red.”
Chello knew he had enemies known and unknown, but he always calculated his moves and made sure to always keep his radars up.
He sat there, Tyzir’s words circled his brain; he couldn’t lie, he let Londa slide with a lot because the bitch had excellent head, great pussy, and did whatever he needed her to do.
“I’m just saying, don’t let that bitch pull wool over your eyes, you not exempt from a money hungry bitch.”
“I hear you, I’m about to go meet the bitch now. She mad as a bitch Jada whooped her.”
“What’s with you and her?”
“Jada?”
Tyzir nodded.
“Man, she ain’t biting.” Chello chuckled, “Jada run a strict program, but we been chopping it up through text.”
Chello wasn’t one to tell his business, not even to his best friend, but something made him want to tell the world about Jada. He enjoyed her conversation, she made him think about life and what was next. He knew he couldn’t stay in the game forever and he had more than enough to walk away.
“I’m thinking about getting out the game,” he said, causing Tyzir to look up from his phone.
“What?”
“Yeah, we been doing this shit since we were teens. I wanna go legit and do shit the right way. Get married, have some kids, I’m getting old.”
“Ain’t nothing wrong with that, brother. I’m ready to get out of Chicago.”
“Word? Where you thinking about going?”
“I don’t know yet, but I want a new scenery.”
“I feel you on that. I got another year or so in me before I walk away, so we gotta start putting shit in motion.”
“Fasho.”
Chello stood up and stretched, “Let me go meet this bitch at the crib and hear her mouth.”
Tyzir chuckled and nodded before dapping him up.
Chello walked out into the scorching heat and frowned, he couldn’t wait to get to his car and under the air.
Summer was his favorite season, but only at night, that hot shit made a muthafucka miserable.
As soon as he pulled on his block, Ms. Lily motioned for him with two fingers.
He chuckled to himself because she was so smooth and gangster and nobody knew.
Not a soul knew she had been his supplier since he came into the game, not even Tyzir.
Ms. Lily was born in Cuba and supplied every state on the map.
She bought the very building she lived in when she was thirty years old and never moved.
She was quiet but could make a lot of noise if she wanted to.
She was there when his mother was killed and from that day, she took care of him like her own son.
“What’s up, my lady?” he took a seat on her top step.
“Hey, Son. Listen, I’m cutting supply to the southside, so be ready for a wave out here.”
Chello frowned, “Why? What happened?”
She looked at him, “I hear Cease is trying to step on this side and he knows better. He can’t make a move without product.”
Chello shook his head because that nigga had been trying for years to get him off the map and Chello couldn’t be fucked with in the city on no day.
“Don’t cut him, let him step.”
She looked straight ahead and chuckled, “Always been a little hot head.”
“I actually want to get out soon.”
“The game?”
Chello nodded and looked up the street.
“I’m thirty. I feel like I’m getting older, I want more, the legit way.”
Ms. Lily smiled; she always wanted the best for him.
“You know when it’s time and I agree, I’m getting older, and I want to be here to dance at your wedding.”
“What wedding?” he joked.
“The one you’re going to have and not to that puta I see you running with.”
Chello laughed because he knew she was talking about Londa; no one liked the bitch, but she had him in a chokehold.
He knew for a fact that Londa was never anything more than she was, but he liked how nasty she was, there was never a no, if he wanted his dick sucked at three in the morning, she did it.
She was the perfect slut, but he was looking for a woman and the only person that came to mind was Jada.
“What you think about Jada?” he asked because he always talked to Ms. Lily about everything.
The smile on her face told him everything he needed to know before she opened her mouth to speak.
“Sweet Jada, but she’s not one that you can play with. How does Nyla feel about that?”
“Nyla got her own shit going on, but she cool.”
“I’ve been seeing her talking to Harlem.”
Chello didn’t like that, but he made the conscious decision to step back and let her do her.
“Yeah, she call herself having a boyfriend.”
“He’s not a bad guy.”
“How you know?”
“I know everything and everyone.”
He read between the lines, but he needed to know exactly what she knew because he still had his brow raised on Kyst.
“What you know about the Lucas family out of Harlem?” he got straight to it.
“I know everything. Rosemary is their mother and she’s a bad muthafucka, not to be fucked with, but not untouchable when it comes to mine,” she shot back but made it clear statement.
Ms. Lily sat at the head of any table she rested at and that wasn’t negotiable.
“You got ties with her?”
“No, but we’ve sat at the bosses’ table together a few times, no bad blood. I’ve even supplied her when her connect couldn’t, so like I said, I know everybody.”
Chello nodded, “Is my sister safe with him?”
Chello was concerned every time he thought about Nyla being with Kyst, he felt like nobody could protect his sister like he could. He would die if something happened to her, he was ready to get on Londa’s ass for that shit she pulled.
“Nyla is safe, one thing about the Lucas family, they are protectors and big steppers. That’s why I don’t want any bad blood between you and Kyst. He’s not an enemy.”
“Then what is he?”
“Next up.”
Chello frowned and looked at her.
“You said you want to get out,” she continued.
“So that mean give him my spot? What you getting at, Ma? I feel like it’s something you not telling me.”
“I’m saying don’t be closed minded to the game, nothing stays the same.
Harlem is expanding here, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up anything until you’re ready.
Rather you want to accept it or not, Nyla is in good hands.
If she wasn’t, I would remove her myself. I love you both like my own.”
“I know. I just don’t want her with a nigga like me,” he admitted.
“Some shit you can’t control, guys like you is all she knows, but she’s a smart girl and she knows the game because you taught her. Now, you must watch her apply what she knows and let her learn what she doesn’t.”
“You right. So, are they going to fuck with my operation?”
“Never. Chicago is a big city, there’s enough money here, greed is a hustler’s downfall, remember that.”
A few seconds later Londa’s car came speeding up the block.
“That’s who you need to be worried about.” Chello believed in warning before destruction and that was the second warning in one day he got on Londa. He hugged Ms. Lily and made his way to his house.
“You fuckin’ the old bitch across the street, too?” she said as soon as she got out the car.
“Watch yo fuckin’ mouth!”
She rolled her eyes and kept walking, Gucci shades covered her eyes. She stormed inside the house mad as hell. Long red nails, red bottoms on her feet, and bad attitude followed Chello as he tossed his keys on the table.
“You need to check your sister, and I’m fuckin’ her little friend up as soon as I catch her.”
Chello didn’t even look up right away, Londa knew better.
“You brought the bitch to the city and you knew she fought Nyla in Harlem.”
Londa folded her arms and snapped her neck, “That ain’t the point, my cousin can go wherever she want. She ain’t here for Nyla.”
“That’s exactly the point, what y’all thought was Nyla was a scary mufucka that y’all thought y’all could play with.”
Londa stared at him with smoke coming from her ears.
“That’s the problem, she can do no wrong in your eyes. Everybody act like the girl is a damn princess.”
“To me she is. Yo cousin lost, take that L back to Harlem.”
His answer hit her fast and hard, suddenly she felt something in her chest, jealousy. Not jealousy over looks or anything like that, but priority, position, and power. Londa thought she had her hooks deep into Chello, but that conversation alone told her she had more work to do.
“She put hands on my family, so something gon’ be done.”
That made Chello pause and the look in his eyes told her she said the wrong thing, but Londa meant every word.
“That’s a threat?”
“No. That’s a promise. Look at my fuckin’ eye! I’m getting that bitch Jada for sure!”
She pulled the shades off and looked like Redd from the movie Friday when Debo knocked his ass out.
Chello fought back laughter, but all in all, he didn’t do threats, and Londa was talking cash money shit, so it was only right he made it happen.
Never was he giving no bitch that had static with his sister a pass.
He grabbed his phone and shot Nyla a text.
Chello: You at the shop?
Nyla: Nah, it’s Monday, the shop closed. Me and Jada at Burlington’s on Cermak. What’s up?
Chello: Pull up at the crib on Homan, Londa want a fade with you and Jada.
Nyla: Omw.
Londa looked at him with a mug, “So what you gon’ do about it or do I need to handle it myself?”
Chello couldn’t wait for Nyla to pull up, he hated an overly tough bitch and that’s what Londa was in that moment.
Chello never played about Nyla, and he taught her to never let no muthafucka play with her, Londa wasn’t exempt.
He let her talk, and she was doing a whole lot of it while he ignored her and looked down at his phone.
Nyla: Where she at? I’m here.
Chello snatched his keys back up and walked toward the front door. Londa was fresh on his heels like he wanted her to be.
“Where the fuck you going!? I’m not done talkin’.”
“You should be because it’s time for some action now,” he said on the way down the stairs.
When he stepped out the door, Nyla was standing on the sidewalk waiting, Londa mugged her and looked at Chello.
“You really called her over here to fight me?”
“You made a threat, get that shit off yo chest. She right there.”
She couldn’t lie, her feelings were hurt because she thought she meant a little more to him than that.
A punk bitch was something she had never been, so she kicked her heels off and walked down the stairs.
She was about to dust that hoe like Ty was supposed to and she was getting her lick back from Jada while she stood like security.
Londa ran down the stairs to Nyla, both swung at the same time and connected.
“Don’t touch ‘em,” Chello demanded from where he stood with his arms folded across his chest as some of his guys went to break it up.
They instantly backed off and let them fight, Londa and Nyla were giving each other a run for their money.
Both were good with their hands, but Londa wasn’t fast enough.
Nyla was landing left and right, but she was tired, Chello saw it and so did Jada.
She slid in and pushed Nyla out the way, now for Jada and Londa, it was personal.
Chello couldn’t wait to see how Jada was coming, she shocked the fuck out of him.
Nyla went to jump in, but he stopped her.
“Don’t jump her, Nyla,” he said as Jada beat the shit out of Londa.
Jada was small, but she was handling Londa’s thick ass.
“Bitch, I’ll kill you!” Jada sat on Londa’s arms and punched her in the face until Chello snatched her up.
“Let me go, Chello!” she demanded but he whispered to her and instantly calmed her down.
“You won, baby, chill.”
Londa looked at the two of them and she saw it, that chemistry that she wanted with Chello.
“You fuckin’ this bitch!?” she yelled as Jada laughed and stuck her tongue out like a mischievous child.
“He fuckin’ the shit outta me! That dick good, too!” Jada trolled as Chello and everyone else laughed.
“Laugh now, cry later,” Londa spat before hopping into her car, speeding off and acting like she was going to run Nyla over.
If Chello wasn’t turned on before by Jada, he sure in the fuck was after she said that shit.
