VIVIANNA
The pounding of my head was the first thing that I noticed, quickly followed by how cold I was. Shivers ran up my body, causing my muscles to tense and make my headache worse. My mouth felt like I’d been out in the Sahara for weeks as my tongue clung to the roof of my mouth.
Groaning, I tried to lift my hand to rub my eyes, but it wouldn’t budge. I slowly cracked my eyes open until blinding light slammed into my retinas, making me groan as the pain shot through my head.
Okay, that had been a terrible idea.
Using my other senses, I could hear a beeping sound nearby, letting me know my pulse was picking up, hinting I was in a hospital.
That can’t be right. I don’t work at the A the Alpha wouldn’t like it. Let me go get the doctor and see if we can’t make you more comfortable.”
“No…wait…please, just tell me one thing.”
The nurse paused, then nodded her head.
“How long have I been here?”
“You have been under Dr. Faulk’s care for a little over five months.
A werewolf pregnancy is extremely dangerous, but with you having twins, we need to be overly cautious.
That is the reason we have kept you so sedated.
We can’t risk your body rejecting the babies; it’s a miracle that it even happened,” the nurse said, oblivious to the fact that I was in shock.
How could I have been trapped in this place for five months? Did Vadik kill off my mates? Is that why they hadn’t come for me yet? I know they would never leave me here like this. They would all destroy this world to find me.
That was the only explanation—they were dead, and I was alone…pregnant with twins.
