Ididn’t get to see Dr. Faulk that day or the next, it was almost as if they were protecting him from me.

Granted, I would love nothing better than to rip out his heart and burn it, but that would be far too simple a death for a man like him.

Ruth was the only person that I saw regularly when she brought meals and sat and talked with me about stupid shit like the weather.

Meals was also a very generous term for the liquid she forced down my throat three times a day, sometimes four if I spilled or puked up the drink.

Today when Ruth entered my room, she carried a tray and the smell of it made my mouth water.

“I thought it might be nice if we ate together today, instead of me just sitting with you,” Ruth smiled as she set the tray down that had a plate covered but also that damn cup she used for my ‘meals’.

Was she trying to torture me? What the hell did she think she was doing sitting there with her cheeseburger and French fries?

“Is there any hope of me being able to have solid food?” I groused.

Ruth just continued to smile, but this time she unstrapped one of my hands so that I could drink for myself. “Possibly, if you prove to me that you’ll be able to manage staying calm and reasonable.”

Ah...so it was the fact they didn’t want me to have my hands free or the use of silverware.

I guess being a werewolf did make most objects a weapon with the right force behind it.

The thing about that though, was whatever they were still giving me to keep me reasonable, kept my wolf locked away.

For all intents and purposes, I was human again.

“Is that also the reason you’ve been keeping the doctor away from me?” I questioned.

Ruth paused cutting her burger in half and looked at me. “The doctor feels that interacting with him will only agitate you and we need to do what’s best for the babies. He is keeping a close eye on everything and if you have any questions, I’m sure I can answer them for you.”

A frustrated growl passed my lips as she handed over my glass.

Today it was a smoothie instead of just the standard chocolate meal replacement.

Taking a tentative sip, I found it was berry flavored and tasted like heaven.

This was progress and I knew I needed to get them to trust me if I had any hope of getting free from my restraints.

“Do you know much about the process that he used to speed up the babies’ growth?”

Ruth cocked her head as she chewed, watching me with a critical eye. “Dr. Faulk is not very forthcoming about his research, but I do know that he had to inject the fetuses themselves and it was tricky to do while in your womb.”

My stomach rolled at the thought of him doing anything to my children, let alone injecting them with experimental crap.

“He seemed to think that since it had been used to create you that they would adapt to it easily, after all they are a blend of your DNA and their father’s,” Ruth continued.

“Once he did a few direct injections, he was able to formulate something they could absorb through you, reactivating some of the dormant parts of your makeup. I have to say it’s been quite thrilling to see, Dr. Faulk might not be completely ethical in how he does things, but it works. ”

She’s right, nothing he is doing is ethical in any way shape or form.

A man like him should never have been allowed to practice medicine in the first place.

All he’s done is twist and pervert what talents he’d been given.

The sound of the heart rate monitor I was wearing started to alarm causing us both to look at the screen.

It seems that this information has upset me to the point where my heart rate was much too high for their liking, causing Ruth to frown.

“I hope you learned what you wanted to know, because we will not be talking about that again,” Ruth snapped.

“Do you want to kill these babies of yours? I just don’t understand why you can’t do all that is necessary to keep them alive and healthy.

Time and time again we have explained any kind of stress can put baby number two at risk. ”

That’s when I really snapped.

How could they think that any of this was my fault? They were keeping me hostage, bound to a bed, with a crazy man in charge of my treatment. Fuck them and their self entitled mentality.

Gripping my smoothie cup I tossed it into Ruth’s face, distracting her as I lunged forward as far as my belly would let me, grabbing her metal tray.

I picked it up and swung it as hard as I could at her head, knocking her off the bed and sprawled out on the floor.

I shifted through the blankets to find where the knife had fallen when I grabbed the tray.

Thank god it was a real knife that had somewhat of a sharp edge to it as I hacked away at my left thick woven restraint.

Ruth groaned as she started moving on the floor, just as I managed to free my left hand.

Twisting the best I could, I tried to get to my feet where my ankles were tied— but not fast enough.

Ruth was on her feet and the fury in her face dashed any thoughts I had that she was a kind person.

Grabbing my shoulder, she yanked me back so I was laying flat, but I still had the knife in hand.

Fighting against her, I jerked my arm free and plunged the knife into her chest where I hope it hit her heart.

Being a doctor gave you the gift of healing and repairing the body, but it also made you the perfect killer.

I knew just what to do to make the most amount of damage and I didn’t hesitate.

Ruth’s eyes went wide as she clutched my hand holding the knife, but I wasn’t going to be put off that easy.

As my anger and rage filled my body, I could feel my wolf moving closer to the surface of my consciousness.

She was waking up and once that happened, I would not be so easy to push around anymore.

Along with my wolf stirring I could also feel my strength returning, and I used what I could gather to twist the knife in her heart, shredding what I could.

I didn’t truly know if she was a werewolf, but I wasn’t going to take any chances of her healing saving her condescending ass.

She stopped fighting me as she sank to the floor, blood pooling around her as she gaped like a fish at me.

Not wanting to waste any more time on her, I scooched down to the end of the bed, giving as much slack as I could to the restraints.

These were slip knotted so once I got them loose I could remove my foot from the strap.

Yanking off all the leads and sensors, I turned to the opposite side of the bed from Ruth not wanting to slip in her blood.

Just as I put my foot on the cold tile floor alarms started going off from the medical units.

Not having any time to lose, I pushed off the bed and instantly crumpled to the floor.

It had been months since I’d been out of bed and used my muscles.

They told me they’d done physical therapy to help combat the problem, but I’d lost much of my strength.

Furious, I let out a scream as my heart broke and tears streamed down my face, as the reality of my situation hit me fully in the face. I couldn’t get out of this by myself, I needed my mates and my wolf, but none of them were here. I was alone with only my anger to keep me company.

Bitch please, you didn’t think they could keep me locked away forever, did you?
