29. Vivianna #2

Three of them submitted easily, bowing low before me, but two of them stood strong.

The one that stepped forward still tried to stare me down, but he was nothing more than a strong-willed pup having a hissy fit to me.

Seeing that he wasn’t convinced I could do as promised, I let my hold on my alpha energy go and filled the space with the brunt of my ability.

The last two let out a whimper and dropped to the ground, rolling over showing their bellies, but I couldn’t use this as their full agreement.

“Submit and acknowledge me as your Dama or your life ends here,” I declared, pulling back my energy and glancing over at Tristan, who nodded his head in understanding.

“Dama, I submit.”

“You are Dama. I am of service.”

“If you will save my sister, I will do whatever you ask, Dama.”

I wasn’t surprised to hear it from these three, since they gave in right away, but the last two… I didn’t know how that was going to go. They seemed to be struggling until one of them spoke, “I… submit.”

“Lie,” Tristan told me, but didn’t make a move, waiting for the last man to give his answer.

I watched as he fought with everything he had against my hold on him.

He tried to connect to someone else, but I’d pulled him out of the pack, severing his pack link.

If whoever his alpha was knew what to look for, we might be in trouble, but I was learning that if they didn’t think it was possible, it wasn’t considered.

Finally, he gave up and relaxed, giving in to my hold. “Fine, you win, Dama.”

“Also a lie. He will kill you the moment he thinks he has a chance,” Tristan enlightened.

I stood and let out a sigh. “Kill the two.”

Orion and Tav moved in sync as they pounced on the two unsuspecting wolves, who were dead before they knew what happened. The other three scrambled back, away from the dead wolves, looking at me with panicked eyes, whining.

“I told you I would know if you were lying to me. If I can’t trust your word, then there is no forgiveness to be given.

” This seemed to calm them down somewhat, but I could tell they were still wary.

“As for you three, we need to get the item being delivered in that car and smuggled into the lab. Can you do that?”

“What’s in the car?” the wolf who’d had his sister kidnapped asked.

Stepping up to him, I met his gaze, not with any power behind it, but more so he could see my emotions and know how serious I was. “My daughter. The bastard took her from me a few days after she was born, and I want her back.”

His eyes widened. “You’re her.”

The other two guards looked at him confused. “What are you talking about, man?”

“You’re the one Jason and Vadik have been looking for. The one that almost killed Vadik,” he answered, his voice telling me how in awe he was of my reputation. “How did I not recognize who you were?”

Now this statement and the hope that came along with it made my mates’ hackles rise. “What do you know, pup?” Darius snarled.

“She is the savior of our kind, the new leader of the rebellion coming to rescue us.” one of the other guards blurted. “Dama, we will help you however we can. There are others as well, in the bunker, who wish to be free.”

I didn’t think I could be shocked by more things in my life, but here I was, trying to wrap my brain around the fact there were people on the inside who wanted to help me.

Not only that, missy, you’re a hero to them. I wonder if this was Neveah’s work or if they found out about you another way?

“Viv, the car,” Bentley called out.

“Let us take the lead, Dama. We will get you to your daughter. I swear on my sister’s life.”

Tristan acknowledged that he was indeed telling the truth. “Beloved, he sees you as the last hope he has of getting him and his sister out of this whole thing alive. That man will truly do whatever you ask of him.”

“Lead the way,” I instructed.

The three guards shot off through the forest and we were hot on their heels. The sound of the tires crunching on the rough terrain of the dirt road gave me hope I would be able to hold my daughter in my arms once again.

“Dama, wait here. It’s normal for us to stop the Humvee to do a check. Wait until we have it stopped, then you and your men can attack. It will be a bulletproof military-grade vehicle so that it doesn’t get picked up on any radar or satellite. The only way in is to have them open a window or door.”

Huddled in the darkness of the forest, we waited as the three wolves dashed out into the road.

Thankfully, the Humvee wasn’t going that fast and pulled to a stop, headlights lighting up our new recruits.

One of them shifted back and walked up to the driver’s window buck ass naked, knocking on the glass. “Open for inspection.”

The small window rolled down, but the interior was too dark for me to see anyone inside.

Koit, Tristan, Rik, and Tav started to creep out from the underbrush, since they had the darkest fur.

I pulled my gaze from them and concentrated on what the driver was saying.

“The damn baby wouldn’t stop crying the whole seven hours to get here.

Then it decided to shit itself so badly we had to stop, getting the baby cleaned up and air out the goddamn rig.

I never knew something so small could smell so bad. ”

“Damn, that sucks,” our guard commiserated with him. “Hey, can you roll down the window in the back so I can take a peek inside to make sure you’re not smuggling in anyone?”

“That’s new. This because of the raids on the labs?” the driver asked.

“Like I don’t have enough to deal with guarding property this large with fewer men, since they’re out pulling people in like you guys are.”

The driver muttered under his breath about Jason being a paranoid bastard as he rolled down the back window.

“I mean, the man owns the whole country, so what if a few labs get hit, there’s plenty more hidden away out there.

I mean, it’s not like the Wolf Queen is real after all, just a bunch of bullshit if you ask me. ”

“Right?” our guard said, as he peeked into the back then walked up to the driver. “Looks good man, one thing though…”

Before the driver could react, his face was slammed into the steering wheel and the driver’s door was yanked open.

Tav shifted, grabbed the man by the collar and tossed him out of the car, while the others moved.

Soon, every door was open, and the sound of a wailing baby filled the air, having me back on two feet and diving into the Humvee.

There, in the back storage area, was Hope in a car seat, arms waving in the air, face scrunched up, madder than hell.

Reaching out, I pulled her to me, tears rolling down my cheeks as I clutched her to my chest.

“Shh, sweet girl, Mommy’s got you,” I whispered as she calmed, hiccuping her last few sobs.

Hope looked up at me with wide bright green eyes that seemed to take in the world around her with far more understanding than they should.

Her head was now covered in thick curly brunette hair that puffed out like a little afro, making me smile.

I gasped as she smiled back at me, waving her arms excitedly as if she knew who I was.

A hand brushed along my back, making me snarl as I clutched her to my chest.

“Viv, it’s just me,” Koit murmured, keeping his voice soft. “Let’s get you ladies out of the car, so our daughter can meet her dads.”
