12. Diana

Diana

All day today I've been trying to relax as much as I can, but it's been hard.

The anticipation of seeing Luca again has had me unable to sit still.

It doesn't matter how much I try to tell myself that it's not a big deal, that he's just a kind man who wants to show me around and make sure that I have a great time.

The countdown ends when I receive a message. My hands shake knowing that it's probably Luca texting me about tonight. Excitement runs through me when I see that I'm right, when I read his name on my phone once again. I can't help but giggle.

The Hot Lifeguard: Hey, should we do dinner at the resort, or do you want to go into town?

I take a deep breath and re-read his message as I have an internal debate on which one I want to do.

Deep down I would love to go explore the town, but I probably should try to keep him at arm's length.

After seeing him today with his shirt off, not to mention the events of last night, I'm feeling a little too eager to see and touch him.

I shake my head. No, Diana, we will not be touching him again. You need to keep your hands to yourself. No matter how sexy the young man looks . Right at that moment, I conjure up an image of Luca laying under me as I explore his body with my tongue.

My clit throbs with desire. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath, refusing to touch myself.

Especially with Luca in my mind. Yeah, we will be having dinner here.

If we go out in town, I'll be confined to a small space alone with him for an extended time and I'm not sure what I will do if that is the case.

When I think that, I can't help but giggle—sometimes I'm ridiculous.

We are grown people and we can keep it in our pants.

I feel my clit tingle, and I know I'm in a load of trouble, but I do need to keep it as platonic as possible.

The best thing to do in this situation is to eat at the resort, where I can escape easier.

Gael is right. No matter how we look at it, I'm only here for a week. I can't get involved with Luca, it will only lead to heartache. Feeling more confident that I can ignore my body and keep with the plan, I finally respond to him.

Me: Let's just eat here tonight. Maybe we can go to town next time?

The Hot Lifeguard: Sounds good. I'll meet you in the lobby in fifteen.

Fifteen minutes! I throw my phone down on the bed as panic washes over me. How am I supposed to be ready for a date so quickly? Running to the bathroom, I jump into the shower. The moment I hit the water, I let out a squeal, "Shit, that's still cold."

Thankfully, it heats up quickly and I'm able to wash the beach from my body.

When I get out, I see that I only have ten more minutes left—at least I brought mostly summer dresses.

Grabbing my favorite dress, one that fits my body perfectly and is in my favorite dark purple, I throw it on over my body.

Looking in the mirror, I feel confident in how I'm dressed, sexy but resort casual. I apply my mascara and some lip gloss. I've never been a makeup person and usually I don't care about what I look like, but I can't seem to stop myself from wanting to look my best for him.

With five minutes to spare, I'm able to slip my feet into gold sandals that complement my dress. I might not know much about makeup, but I love fashion and I know I look amazing. But just in case something is out of place, I check the mirror one last time. Feeling great, I head out the door.

It doesn't take long to get down to the lobby.

When the elevator dings and the doors open, my heart flutters when I see Luca leaning against the wall looking like a sexy model.

He's dressed in a white button down with khaki shorts, his dark hair styled to perfection.

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone look so good.

We meet in the middle and suddenly feeling shy, I whisper, "Hey. You look good."

Luca grins at me, reaching for my hand and pulling me in closer. "Well, don’t you look like the goddess you were named after." He takes a step back, twirling me around in a circle. "That dress."

I feel as if I’m glowing and my smile spreads across my face. This moment feels as if I'm in a dream. Still holding my hand, he keeps me close, leading me to the restaurant.

"You're going to love the food here. They have good salsa," he says as we approach the hostess.

"Luca?" she asks, making jealousy rear its ugly head. I try to calm myself when I remember that he works here, Luca probably knows many people here. Besides, I don't need to be jealous. This is just for fun , I remind myself.

"Hey, Heather. Can we have a table for two?"

"Who is this?" she asks, grinning at both of us, relaxing my jealousy a bit.

"This is Diana," Luca simply states, pulling me even closer to him.

"Nice to meet you. How about a table on the patio?"

"That would be great," I tell her as she leads us out to a table next to the railing with a view of the beach. The stars blink at us as if they are trying to tell us something. "This is beautiful."

"Only the best spot for the best lifeguard," she says, placing our menus down on the table. "Enjoy."

"Thank you, Heather," Luca says, then focuses his attention back on me.

God, he's so attentive. When it is time for this to end, I'm not sure I'll ever find someone like Luca. They don't make men like him. All of the ones I've met over the years cared more about themselves and how I could serve them, not the other way around.

"Do you like margaritas?" he asks me, breaking through my thoughts about men.

Which is probably good because if I was able to get too much into my head, it would probably bring down the whole night.

"I do," I tell him, giving a soft smile.

"Good. The bartender here makes great ones," he explains as the waiter walks up to our table.

"Hey, Luca. What can I get you two?" he asks, not introducing himself to us. I guess it's because Luca knows everyone. Maybe we should've gone to a restaurant out in town?

"Hey, Daniel. We want two margaritas, chips, and salsa for the table." He pauses for a moment, then turns toward me to ask, "Do you like fajitas?"

Nodding my head, I can't help but swoon at the fact that he asked me instead of just ordering our food for us. Which is ridiculous because Luca is just being kind. Maybe I've just been bad at picking out guys to date?

I watch as Luca turns back to Daniel. "And fajitas for two."

"Sounds great. I'll get those in. Enjoy your night," Daniel says before walking off toward his other tables.

"Do you know everyone?" I ask, trying to sound coy as I mess with the silverware on the table.

"Los Cabos is actually a very small town. It seems big because of all the resorts and tourists, but it's not. Even the people who move here to work at the resorts are very few."

"And you grew up here?"

"I did. What about you? Where did you grow up?"

"I grew up in D.C."

"That's a big city?"

"Yes and no."

"The area is big, but DC itself is small. And like here, everyone knows everyone," I tell him quickly, not wanting to really dive into my childhood. Based on the few things he's mentioned, it sounds like his family is close—the complete opposite of mine.

Before either of us can say anything else, the waiter interrupts us dropping off our food and drinks. My mouth waters at how good the food looks.

"Ladies first," Luca says, handing me a plate.

Taking it, I begin to dish up my fajitas, ready to dive in. I wait patiently, taking a sip of my margarita while I watch as Luca makes his plate. After he finishes, we both begin to eat. I take a bite, closing my eyes, and I can't help but groan. Fuck, that is so good .

When I open my eyes, Luca is staring at me with his jaw open.

"What?"

"You can't just make noises like that."

"What noises?"

"Those groans." His voice drops. "They're too fucking sexy. It makes me hard."

I can't help but feel the heat rise in my cheeks and I'm sure they're real red too.

Too embarrassed to reply I take another bite of my fajita.

Thankfully, Luca doesn't say anything else as we both eat in a comfortable silence.

When I'm near him, it feels like we've known each other for a while instead of just meeting two days ago.

I've never experienced this with anyone else.

Dinner goes by too fast and before I know it, the night is over. When we leave the restaurant, Luca stops us on one of the balconies the resort has that overlooks the ocean. "This spot is my favorite," I whisper while sitting down on one of the loungers, my gaze staying on the ocean.

"Mine too," Luca mutters. I see him sit down on the lounger next to me. "Though there are a few other places outside of the resort that are even more beautiful."

"I would love to see that," I tell him, my gaze moving toward him.

He smiles at my response, jumping up from his lounger. "Great. I don't have to work tomorrow so I'll pick you up at 11 a.m."

"Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise," he tells me, giving me a wink.

"Well, how do I know what to wear?" I ask him, batting my lashes at him.

"Shorts, a T-shirt, and a bathing suit underneath. You know, just in case," he whispers against my lips before giving me a chaste kiss. "I'll see you tomorrow. Good night."

"Good night," I mutter. I watch Luca walk away, not being able to keep my gaze off his hot ass.
