Is that…kinky
22
A fangy smile infested my cheeks as I looked down on that girl. Turning toward Riftan, it morphed into a sneer. “I just found you a meal. How’s that sound, babe?” I asked him, getting a little too entrenched in the boyfriend-girlfriend act.
His lips mimicked mine, grinning as sultry eyes snaked their way over my face. Exchanging my hair in his hand for my face, he tapped his forefinger against my cheek. “Are you sure about that? I mean, I know she’s gotten under your skin, but is it worth killing her over?”
The girl snorted a laugh. “Excuse me?” She raised her eyebrows, waiting for the joke’s punchline.
Ignoring her, I convinced Riftan, “I’m okay with killing her. Does it bother you?”
“No.” He shrugged. “But have you asked if she has a family? I don’t want it weighing on your conscience, that’s all, my love.”
Glancing back at the girl, I found her out of the booth and trying to slip past me. She may have thought my offer was a joke at first, but she clearly wasn’t sticking around any longer to find out. Once our eyes met and she’d been caught in the act, the girl stopped in her tracks.
“I don’t care,” I answered Riftan, my gaze never leaving the girl. “I want to watch you feed off the skanky mortal regardless. And I promise you it won’t weigh on my conscience one bit.”
The girl started to fiddle with her hair. “This is weird. Look, you won, I’ll give you some money. I have lots with me. That should square us up, right?” She offered a phony grin that failed to cover her growing anxiety.
Pulling me back, Riftan’s finger dug into my cheek, not hard enough to hurt, but enough to guarantee I wouldn’t look away. He spoke gentle words over my lips, “Thrall her to follow us home, and we will feed on her there.”
The girl’s heart rate spiked, and she made to bolt. I grabbed her by the arm, the force almost pulling it out of the socket, but not phasing Riftan and me. “Why not here?” I asked. “We’ve got this nice little VIP suite all to ourselves.”
“Because…” He traced down my chin, watching the trail of goosebumps he made in his wake. “We are both going to feed on her and if she can’t handle it, she’ll die. That’s not something I want to have to deal with here in public. It’s better if we do it at home.”
“Both of us?” I repeated, the connotation sinking in. “Like, together, at the same time?”
“Yes.”
“Oh.” The idea was provocative, like an untried taboo. Something we’d never done before. “Is that… kinky?”
“Maybe a little.” That same sultry little grin passed his lips again before his hands left my chin and he backed toward the exit. “But I’d say it’s more romantic than anything.” He didn’t wait to watch me melt before turning away and ducking through the velvet exit.
Feeling light as air from the possibilities that admission could hold, I almost forgot that I had a mortal tugging against my grip.
“Hurry up, love,” Riftan called, peeking through the curtain to ensure I was following.
“Coming!” I jumped, the opportunity to share a romantic meal with Riftan filling my veins with excitement. Turning to the girl, I caught her by the eyes and thralled, “Follow us home, but not too close. I don’t want you to look suspicious.” I shadowed the request with a little wink and nipped at her nose playfully. The girl lifted her lips in an exuberant smile. I hadn’t hypnotized her into a vegetable, but enough to make her unafraid and obedient.
Fading to the curtain, I found Riftan not far ahead as he made for the door. I hopped up next to him and we left the club together, then we meandered hand-in-hand back to the condo. All the while, our little tag-along did the same, following behind at a reasonable distance.
At our condo, she entered through the back of the building where nobody could see her, which was quick thinking for a daft, thralled mortal. Not that it mattered, nobody was watching us and there weren’t any cameras around our place, but staying under the radar was always a good practice if we wanted to keep on the council’s good side or stay out of the sights of potential vampire hunters. From what I’d been told, those were both concerns to keep at the forefront of immortal decision-making.
Once we were all inside, I pulled the girl by the hand until we were both sitting on the living room couch. I brushed my fingers through her long blonde locks, twirling a few of the loose curls. She was indeed cute, even with the smudged makeup and gaudy dress. But Riftan was right, she wasn’t as cute as me. Her plump lips were too fake, eyes lackluster, and skin kind of dull, even after all the makeup. That made me more comfortable with the idea of Riftan feeding on her. She wasn’t as cute as me, she was just food.
Lagging behind, Riftan stopped in the kitchen. “I’ll get you a glass of wine, love. Do you want that cabernet I got you last month?”
“Sure,” I offered, sparing him only a glance before my attention was back on the girl.
She looked around curiously, musing under her breath, but unable to make out a communicable sentence through my thrall. Every calm little breath she took lifted her chest, heaving her firm-looking breasts in cadence. More than a little intrigued, I reached for one of them, wondering if they felt how they looked. The girl wasn’t too scrambled to sink into my touch, uttering a little moan through her teeth.
I swallowed a lump forming in my throat from how badly I wanted to explore her more. She wasn’t my type, sure. But it hadn’t always been that way. There was almost certainly a version of Leanne from the past that would have gone for a girl like her.
“You can think freely,” I whispered to the girl, releasing my thrall and only adding, “but don’t move, and no sounds any louder than my voice.”
The moment she was released, trepidation invaded her face. She had so many questions and they all came out at once. She begged for her life, offering loved ones and strangers in her place. A tear even trickled down her paltry little cheek.
The more she groveled, the more that desire in my throat grew, heating my core in the most perverse way. It was awful how much her misery turned me on. I knew it was, but it didn’t stop the feeling. When did I get this way? I hadn’t been a vampire that long, in the grand scheme of things, so maybe I’d always been this way.
“Shh,” I whispered, licking my lips as I nuzzled against her neck where the veins rushed with blood. “Keep babbling and I’ll make you shut up again.”
The smell of her was more vibrant the closer I got, a faint floral perfume hardly masking her natural mortal scent. I rubbed my lips against her velvety skin; my tongue ached to taste her blood. It was surely more intoxicating than her scent.
I licked her—just a taste of what was to come.
“Hey!” Riftan’s voice was sharp from the kitchen. “Do not start without me.”
A groan ripped from my lungs, and I pulled away. “Hurry up, then!” I could hardly wait to sink my teeth into this girl.
She whimpered under my touch, her painted voluptuous lips trembling. If I couldn’t take a bite of her, I might as well have tasted her in a different way.
Careful not to smudge her lipstick on my own skin, I took her quivering lips on mine. Though she couldn’t pull away, because she was thralled not to move, she didn’t protest. When I stopped to gauge her response, I found her with her eyes closed, shaking ceased. In her meek, shallow voice, she said, “You are so sexy and so terrifying at the same time.”
“Well, I suppose that’s why you lost our little bet, now isn’t it?” I winked.
She parted her lips, pursing slightly, welcoming me to kiss her again. I did, this time laying in, less gentle with her.
The sound of Riftan’s footfalls pulled me away, embarrassment creeping into my cheeks.
He was right over us. “Don’t play with your food, my little minx.” Reaching down, he grabbed ahold of the girl’s chin and demanded, “Everything is fine. Shut up and be a good girl.”
She silenced and stared ahead mindlessly.
“That’s no fun,” I complained, taking the glass of wine Riftan offered me. “Don’t you want to hear her plead for her life a little more?”
He answered, “I don’t want to hear or think about anything but you tonight.”
My heart flew into my throat.
“Come now.” He motioned to the girl. “You wanted her, right? Ladies first.”
Swallowing the lump that could have very well been the entirety of my immortal heart, I obeyed, leaning into the girl and kissing at the base of her neck. The veins throbbed under her skin, and I indulged, digging into her, wary not to drip any of her succulent blood onto my grey couch.
Usually, I’d close my eyes to enjoy the euphoric blood lust that came rushing at the first bite. But this time, I stayed attentive, watching Riftan bite in and experience his own ecstasy. He was slow, careful, dropping his eyelids as the first wave of pleasure from her blood settled over him. Seeing that feeling written over his face and feeling it for myself at the same time was a new kind of rapture that shattered the world around me.
Nothing would ever be better than this moment, when all that existed was our mutual bliss.
Riftan’s lips grazed skillfully over the girl’s skin like a tender kiss, not the violent bite I knew he was digging into her. Underneath the torment of her demise, how did it feel to have Riftan’s lips on her? Sans the familiar pinch of his teeth, I could almost feel his lips grazing my own flesh, tickling my neck, fluttering over my lips.
I needed that more than I needed to get my fill of this girl’s blood. I hadn’t taken more than a few drinks before I was only suckling at her veins, too distracted by my fixation on Riftan.
As if through magnetic pull, his eyes flicked open, gaze fusing to mine. He didn’t move, but drank the mortal’s blood with long pulls that were much more effective than mine. Quicker than I was used to, the woman’s heartbeat slowed, and my instinct was to pull away, regardless of Riftan’s prior approval to drain her dry. Knowing that, I thought to go back for more, but Riftan’s hooded gaze held me captive.
He plucked his fangs out of the girl but didn’t falter his stare.
My desire to have him clouded my brain to near inanity, only amplified by the blood intoxication. It manifested in a quivering heat between my legs.
Riftan’s eyes smoldered, radiating the kind of desire I felt for him. He reached over, swiping a thumb against my lips, the sensation warm and wet. Pulling away, I saw his finger coated in a crimson red smear of leftover blood. Before he could completely withdraw from me, I took his thumb in my mouth, sucking off the succulent substance he’d stolen.
Riftan’s expression changed in an instant, a snarl curling on his lips but a fire burning in his eyes. It was nothing I’d ever seen on him—something red hot and seething with lust.
I only got to savor it for a moment before he plucked his thumb from my mouth and grabbed me by the throat, pulling our lips together in an insatiable kiss.
Softly, Riftan moved his lips over mine, offering the taste I’d been craving. It was exhilarating, the taste of him so warm and sweet on my tongue. A numbing relief rushed through my body—it’s constant coveting finally consummated. It felt like static being silenced—that old TV finally turned off.
Not letting up, Riftan pulled me closer, gripping my neck and blanketing my lips in endless, profound kisses. He kissed me like there were thousands of lost kisses to make up for, his warmth enveloping me for only a moment before it turned to fire. The heat that’d built between us erupted, and I was taking every smoldering kiss he gave me and returning it tenfold.
Without stopping, I pushed past the mortal girl and jumped into Riftan’s lap, where he welcomed me greedily, clamping his hands over the bare skin of my thighs as I straddled him.
Our passion was quenchless. Barring the end of the world, there would be nothing that could stop us from finally seeing this explosion of sexual tension through to the end.
I just hoped this ending would be the happy kind.
