Epilogue
Elliot
Ikissed Grym before grabbing my mug. “Who’s on security in the workshop today? Not you. Please.” I kissed his forehead. “I love that you’re a huge distraction, but I really have to finish that table. My client called yesterday.”
Cael chuckled. “In other words, keep your dick away from him while he’s working.”
Grym grinned. “Or you cannot work, and we can go back upstairs.”
“I have bills, Grymley Reaper. Bills.”
Grym raised his eyebrows. “Are you sure you still have bills?”
My suspicion was immediate. I’d stopped getting as many bills in the mail.
Email, too. I thought it had something to do with the lingering souls.
Things had started shutting down. The post office closed for several days in a row because of ghosts, which should have been hard to believe, but it was becoming more common.
“I told you not to do that, Grym.” I hugged him. I knew he’d done it because he loved me. I was grateful. Really. But my debt was my mess to clean up. “I’m paying you back.” I pulled away and gave him a pointed look. “I mean it, Grymley Reaper. You can’t say no.”
Grym just smiled.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“I’m still finishing the table for my client.”
Grym sighed. “Damn.”
Cael snorted, then stood. “I’m on security today.”
Cael grabbed a robe as we made our way out.
As soon as we opened the door, Cael groaned. There were too many souls to count standing in my yard. “They found us.”
“It looks like it.”
“Shit.” Cael went back into the house and found some of his reaper brothers in the living room watching the news.
“Governor Gibson has declared a state of emergency today. Her office told WHH News that ghost sightings have increased, resulting in numerous automobile accidents. More on this story at eleven.”
No one stood. “We’ve got work to do.”
“Why?” Neo asked.
“There’s an acre of souls out there.”
All the reapers groaned. They’d have a long day ahead of them.
Morgana stepped out of the office and clapped her hands. “All hands on deck, gentlemen.”
Grym stood, wrapping his arms around my waist. “We’ll both have to work today.”
“Your vacation is over, I guess.”
“Be careful today. This could be Donn trying to distract all of us so he could get you alone.”
“I’ll cleanse the workshop again.” The demons stayed away with plenty of salt and a few choice words. “You be careful, too.”
The living realm was becoming a mess, but I’d never been happier.
