Epilogue Seven Months Later
It was the end of July. Hulk and I had settled into being a newly married couple.
We’d been married for six weeks. Our wedding hadn’t been over-the-top fancy, but it was everything I ever wanted.
We’d had a massive reception after a smaller ceremony.
Bear, one of the older members of the Hunters Creek Archangel’s Warriors, had officiated.
It was something of a tradition within the clubs for him to do it.
Another tradition I discovered on the day of my wedding was that Bull, the Hunters Creek president, presented the new bride with a piece of jewelry.
And it was nothing cheap, either. Mine happened to be a pair of sterling silver hair combs set with blue topaz.
They happened to match the earrings and necklace Hulk had gotten me.
They were incredible, and I’d almost ruined my makeup crying on the poor man.
Capri and I had a blast meeting the others that the Pagans called friends.
And the number of children was mindboggling.
We’d danced, laughed, drunk, and chatted for hours.
Until Hulk had declared it was enough, and he swept me off my feet and carried me off to the hotel we planned to stay at before leaving on our honeymoon.
He and I went on a cruise. I was shocked he’d agreed to do one.
We had a great time, though we didn’t leave our state room often.
Back in early January, right about the time I began working at Promises, the club had found a new prospect.
His name was Rawley. He was a guy that Rough and Tumble knew.
So far, everyone seemed to like him, and he was doing a good job.
The club was on the lookout for more because Leon was due to patch in by October this year.
And every indication pointed to him making the grade without a doubt.
Life was rolling along relatively smoothly for our club overall. Some of the other clubs had rough patches, and our men helped out where they could. The number of people Capri and I called family and friends now was incredible. What a difference less than a year made in our lives.
Capri was back to attending classes full-time.
At the end of the year, she would earn her bachelor’s degree.
She was deciding whether to pursue her master’s.
She was back to being a smiling, happy person, though she was more cautious.
She worked with the guys on her marksmanship and self-defense.
All the ladies participated in the latter. You could never be too careful.
Right now, everyone is waiting for Pyro and Nitro’s houses to be finished.
They’d decided to bite the bullet and have them built not long into the new year.
They’d chosen many of the materials themselves, with input from some of us.
The designs were all their choice. Two more were taking steps for a future with someone, one day.
Sometimes, I’d wake up and watch Hulk sleep. I would think about the two of us and how it took something so terrible for us to find each other. I’d mentioned it to him once. I expressed horror at the thought of us never meeting if Capri hadn’t been assaulted.
Hulk said that even if she hadn’t been, there was no way we wouldn’t have met another way. When I asked him why he thought that, his answer was sweet and made me love him even more. He maintained that I was always supposed to be Hulk’s Troublemaker. We were each other’s destiny.
