CHAPTER 15

S napped

Michael

I roar into the room as my chest heaves. My wife. They tried to execute a hit on my wife.

I’m supposed to ignore this disrespect? I’m seething with fury. I can’t touch Leonardo, but this won’t go unanswered.

I pace the destroyed office at Uri’s apartment in London. I couldn’t force myself to stay in the house alone. I will have to write my brother a check for the mess I have made here.

When Uri called to inform me of the situation, I lost it. I feel like such a fool for sending her away. She had been safe with me.

“What have I done?” I choke out.

I go to flop down in the desk chair after I turn it back over and right it. However, the lights go out and a commotion starts somewhere outside the office doors. I have men outside the apartment and two inside.

So Leonardo does have the balls to come after men and not just women and children. I pull my guns from my holsters, ready to take him on. I hope he has come himself and not sent someone in his place.

I want to be the one to take him down and I don’t want to have to wait for permission. He needs to be dealt with. Hopefully, he has saved me the time of making the request.

The door bursts open and my two guys appear, firing at the men on the other side. I bare my teeth and rush around them. I’m not about to hide like a trapped mouse.

“Boss, no. We have orders to keep you safe. Get back,” Giorgio says.

I ignore him and rush out of the room. I move like the trained killer I am. I shoot the first guy who comes into sight through the neck, then put two into his chest. My next bullet goes through the skull of the guy behind him.

I turn to my left and take three more out. The rage coursing through me fuels me to keep moving forward. I feel Giorgio and Armando behind me, but I keep my focus on the targets ahead of me.

I don’t stop until both my guns are smoking and there’s nothing left but the sound of my breathing and Giorgio making the call to Uri to inform him of what has happened.

My chest is heaving. My head feels like it’s about to explode. This isn’t enough.

I need to kill something else to feed this bloodlust that has awoken within me. It’s not that I can’t be the savage my brother is. I chose to be the calmer of the two. Not now.

“He wants to speak to you,” Giorgio says as he holds his phone out to me.

“Hello,” I say into the phone, seething.

“You know what to do.”

“I do. Give my apologies to Don Trovati. His brother asked for this.”

My actions from here might just start a war. I can’t be held accountable for how far I take things, and I will take things far. They came for those I love. It is only fair I return the favor.

“Done,” Uri says and hangs up the call without another word.

They have awoken a beast I won’t be able to put to rest until I have sent a message. After all, Trovati has sent these men thinking they were targeting the man who makes them hush.

I have to set an example in my brother’s name. I may not be able to touch Leonardo Trovati, but no one said anything about the ones he loves and who are close to him.

“Get a cleaning crew in here and call the tailor,” I snarl as I toss Giorgio back his phone.
