Chapter 24
It's sad that it almost took me a month to update but.
..I finally have a chapter YAY! Things were chaotic for a while but now that the semester is done I have free time.
I wanted to write this chapter so bad that I wrote it at work (not an easy feat when you work retail lol). Now onto the story~~~~~~
I didn’t see him right away, but I knew he was here. My eyes scanned frantically through all the faces, trying to spot his ice white eyes. Instead I found his chiseled back.
My mind wondered to the time he came out of the shower while I waited nervously in the tub. Now was not the time. I quickly shook the memories away so I could focus.
He was fighting another wolf. I slightly panicked at the thought.
Yes I knew he could handle himself. I witnessed it first hand with the rogue wolves. No. It was the look on all the wolves that encircled him.
I could see the malice in every smile as they watched on.
Involuntarily I whispered his name, and wished I hadn’t.
His head snapped in my direction before his icy eyes bore into my own.
My panic was kicked into overdrive when I watched his head snap back in the other direction as the wolf had punched him. I was distracting him.
There was a lot of hooting as the wolf who had laid the punch started show boating to the crowd.
A low growl started in my throat but my uncle quickly grabbed me to prevent me from acting upon any feelings I had.
“This is his family. This is their way.”
I blinked in shock before looking back at the pack. This was his family? This was his pack? How could they look upon him in such a way?
Besides their spiteful demeanor, they seemed like any other pack. Since he’s so big I assumed his pack would be too, but he stood above them as he didn’t everyone back home.
Curiosity had me searching to see if his father was here. I looked for another pair of white eyes, but none could be found.
If his father was here, I had no idea who he was.
I can’t believe this weakling is cheering after that lousy punch. My mate’s slap is harder than that punch was.
I can only smile when I think about her quick temper, and I thought I was the only one.
The only problem at the moment is what is she doing here? I took her to her family so that she would be nowhere near these savages.
Of course my wolf is happy she’s here. I, on the other hand, had to think rationally. She has to go.
I catch Victor’s leg as he tried to kick my mid-section. Hearing Cassie’s breath catch made me look over in her direction. I could see the worry on her face but there was more.
Trying to figure it out, I pulled on Victor’s leg making him come closer to me before I clotheslined him to the ground. Looking back over at her I pinned the emotion in an instant.
I couldn’t help but smirk as I decided to put on a show for her.
I actually felt a little bad for Victor as he got back up to his feet. Just a little.
Irritation was littered all over his face and I could only roll my eyes. He didn't really think he had a chance against me. He was like a bug I could flick off my shoulder, he was so small.
Victor tried to advance but I kept him back with a left jab. Any time he tried to slowly make his way forward I pushed him back again with a jab until he got frustrated and pushed my arm away. That was the perfect time to bring in the right hook that almost knocked him off his feet.
A little wobbly, he tried to rush and knock me onto the ground but only succeeded in wrapping his arms around my waist.
Time for fun is over. I grabbed his waist and threw him to the ground before I jumped onto him and threw a barrage of punches down upon him.
“Enough little brother.” I glared up at my brother before I slowly got off of Victor, or what was left of him anyways.
Please don’t come over here. Not right now.
It’s like he heard what I said and decided to do the complete opposite. With every step he took the more I wanted to run to him.
Although V is attractive, nothing could top this moment. Something in me loved every moment of him dominating another wolf.
The worst part is I think he knows that.
“Little brother.” Hearing that instantly cooled me off like no water ever could.
I tried to peer around V to see who his brother was but V was just too big.
“What? You want to face me now?”
“Well you can’t be king of the hill, if you don’t beat the king on the hill now can you?”
I reddened in anger at the way he spoke to V, like he wasn’t an equal. Does he know who he’s talking to?
I quickly looked away as V started to grab the bottom of his shirt in what I only assumed would be to take it off.
“Enough boys. Our guests are here.”
All of the pack members looked in our direction and I could only wave in response. I don’t like being stared at.
“Is this why you’ve been stalling?” V seemed to be in a really testy mood. But I had to remember he did say that he would be in a pissy mood.
“Wow. The princess graces us with her presence.” Okay I didn’t like when my uncle called me that. It irritated me when V called me that. But this guy seriously pissed me off when he said it.
I glared up at him before I spoke through gritted teeth. “Royalty doesn’t come amongst the common folk.” The smirk V and Brett wore showed that they hated the bastard too.
“Such big talk from an American wolf.”
“You know, from all this talk of European wolves. I thought you’d be bigger. Or is that only our clan?”
I could feel that I was hitting a nerve and loving every moment of it. It’s like all the frustration I had with V was being let out now..
"This is a prime example of why you shouldn’t date an American wolf.” I didn’t even think to comeback, instead looking at V who looked like he wanted to murder the man.
Thankfully Brett and Avery seemed to be able to hold him back for now.
“V? Have you had a DNA test? You’re way too big to belong to this pack.”
The growls that erupted all around me showed that I wasn’t making friends in this pack. Not the slightest.
“You talk big but can you back it up.”
“It’s not happening.” I was shocked that V could form a sentence instead of lashing out.
“Right. Women don’t fight.”
I rolled my eyes at his comment. “Of course we do.”
“Perhaps you would like to show us another time?”
“Why not now?”
Okay murderous glare is now at me. Why can’t that male just trust me to do something by myself for once?
“No need. I’m sure the only thing scarier than facing you or your twin would be V.”
I looked over at the man who spoke and froze. So V isn’t the only one with unique eyes. He has light lavender colored eyes that made me wonder what he was exactly.
“How do you know she has a twin?”
I looked at V before quickly focusing my gaze back on the man with purple eyes.
“My gift. Are we ready for this meeting or not?”
I know she was looking at him from shock but it pissed me off that she couldn’t take her eyes off Greggor.
I’m glad he stepped in when he did. There was no way I was going to let any of these bastards go near her. Knowing she could beat any of them wouldn’t have stopped my wolf.
He seems to finally see our dilemma of her being here. He’s antsy and very anxious. I’m struggling just to keep him in check.
I feel as a hand is placed on my shoulder. “Your wolf seems restless.” I roll my eyes before answering back.
“That’s the understatement of the year. Why did you take so long to get here Greggor?” He gave a weak smile and just shook his head.
That is Greggor for; I’m not telling you a damn thing. He, unlike me, likes to be subtle about things.
“Your mate is feisty.”
I wasn’t shocked that he knew. I just nodded my head as I continued to watch her talk with Alexandra about the nerve of my father.
“Just don’t hold her back.”
Before I could ask what he meant by that we were being ushered into my father’s office to finally have our meeting.
After V went with his father I decided to go talk to Cassie. I hate being in this house and hoped she could help calm me down.
“Brett. Who was that dick I was arguing with?”
I laugh and was glad that she still has that magical power of making anything seem like nothing.
“Your mate’s father.”
I watched her gape like a fish before she just turns her head to the side with a sigh. “I see where he gets it from now.”
I could only laugh as she shook her head sadly with a heavy sigh.
“Who is this Brett?”
I quickly turned around to see Mila smiling at me. How something so sweet could survive in this place, I will never know.
It’s like the sun being trapped in a black hole. The only way for you to feel the warmth of its glow is to be sucked into that black hole as well.
“This is Cassandra. She’s from California.”
“She’s from America?” The excitement she had for the states was unmatched by anything I’ve ever known. “You don’t seem like an American wolf though?”
Cassie held up her wrists “I’m more than 3/4ths European.” Mila grabbed her wrists and read the ancient writing that was inscribed there.
“Girls bare their lineage in America?”
“No I only did because my brother had. Since we were twins, whatever he got, I got.”
Mila was completely fascinated with Cassie just like her brother, albeit for different reasons entirely.
Being around them made me completely forget where I was before I heard my uncles voice pierce through the air.
“We have come to a treaty for another year.”
All the wolves cheered because this meant that they would celebrate. I however called it binge drinking like the rest of the world.
V quickly walked over towards us and gave Mila a hug causing Cassie to look down at her feet in sadness.
“Valko, are you leaving already?”
Cassie quickly looked up at V and I knew that the car was going to be noisy later.
“Yes we are. We finished what we came for.”
“But you will visit again before you leave, right?”
“I will try.” V kissed Mila’s forehead and walked towards the door.
I followed after but watched as Cassie stood there with a stunned expression on her face.
