32. The Winner Takes It All
The Winner Takes It All
A lex froze mid-sentence, their eyes widening slightly before darting back to Cassie’s. The air between them crackled with tension, thick and undeniable. Cassie could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she waited, wondering if she’d misread the moment.
Alex swallowed hard. “I—” They exhaled slowly, their shoulders relaxing as a small, almost bashful smile curled their lips. “Y-yeah. Yeah, I’d like that.”
Cassie stepped back, pushing the door open, and gestured for Alex to come inside. They hesitated only for a second before crossing the threshold, their shoulder grazing Cassie’s as they passed. Even that slight touch sent a shiver down her spine.
She closed the door, sealing them in the quiet warmth of her home. The dim lighting from the hallway cast a soft glow over Alex’s features as they turned to face her, shifting slightly from foot to foot .
“Do you want something to drink?” Cassie offered, her voice huskier than she intended.
Alex shook their head. “No, I just… I don’t want to rush anything.” Their gaze softened as they searched her face. “I meant what I said earlier. I really like you, Cassie. And I don’t want to mess this up.”
Cassie’s chest tightened at the sincerity in their voice. This wasn’t just a casual hookup for Alex. And it wasn’t just about chemistry, though, God, the chemistry was incredible.
“I don’t want to mess this up either,” she admitted, a slight blush creeping up her cheeks.
Alex smiled, their shoulders loosening just a little. “Then maybe… we just take this one step at a time?”
Cassie nodded, her lips curving into a smirk. “Yeah. One step at a time is good.”
Alex’s expression turned playful as they lifted an eyebrow. “So, does that mean I get to stay and make out with you on the couch for a while?”
Cassie laughed, grabbing their hand and tugging them toward her comfy, gray sectional. “I think that sounds like the perfect next step.”
Cassie led Alex to the couch, tugging them down beside her as she settled in, tucking one leg under herself.
Alex hesitated for only a moment before shifting closer, their thigh brushing against hers.
The warmth of the contact sent a thrill through Cassie’s body, anticipation thrumming just beneath her skin.
Alex turned toward her, one hand resting lightly on her knee, their thumb brushing absently over the fabric of her dress. “So,” they murmured, their voice low, teasing. “This is the part where we make out, huh?”
Cassie smirked, sliding a hand up to the nape of Alex’s neck, fingers threading into their soft hair. “That depends,” she said, voice dipping to a whisper. “Are you going to keep stalling, or are you going to kiss me again?”
A quiet chuckle escaped Alex just before they leaned in, capturing Cassie’s lips in a slow, deliberate kiss. Unlike their kiss outside, this one had no hesitation. Alex took their time, deepening the kiss gradually, their hand slipping up to cup Cassie’s cheek.
Cassie melted into them, angling her head to let the kiss grow more urgent. She loved the way Alex kissed… focused, reverent, like they were savoring every second. And she was just as greedy, pulling them closer, her fingers tightening in their hair.
Minutes passed, maybe more, before Alex finally broke the kiss, resting their forehead against hers. Their breathing was uneven, a soft chuckle slipping free. “You’re going to kill me,” they muttered.
Cassie laughed, brushing a lingering kiss against their lips. “Not my fault you’re irresistible.”
Alex groaned, dropping their head to her shoulder. “You’re really not making this whole ‘taking it slow’ thing easy.”
“Do you want me to?”
Alex lifted their head, meeting her gaze. “No,” they admitted, eyes dark with something that made Cassie’s stomach flip. “But I think I should go before I forget why I said I wanted to take things slow in the first place.”
Cassie studied them for a long moment, weighing the words, the meaning behind them. Alex was trying. For her. Because they wanted something real. Something that would last.
She exhaled softly, letting her hand slide down to squeeze theirs. Leaning in, Cassie brushed her lips along Alex’s cheek, her lips barely a breath from their ear. “Don’t go.”
She felt a shudder reverberate through Alex’s body. Standing, she pulled them up with her .
“But, I thought—”
Placing her forefinger to Alex’s lips, Cassie quieted them with a gentle, “Shhh.” Without another word, she turned and led them down the hall to her master bedroom, turning off lights as they went. Guiding them inside, she closed the door with a soft click.
Walking backwards, Cassie pulled Alex along with her. When the back of her legs touched the bed, she sat down, scooting toward the headboard.
With Cassie’s grip firm, Alex was compelled into an awkward, three-point crawl as they followed her up the length of the bed.
When Cassie came to a stop, Alex hovered above her on their hands and knees, searching her face for any sign of hesitation.
“Are you sure?” Their voice quiet and steady in the stillness of Cassie’s room.
Nodding vigorously, her voice clear, Cassie reached up with her free hand, running her thumb over Alex’s cheek. “Very.”
Leaning back on their haunches, Alex removed their tuxedo jacket, dropping it gently to the floor next to the bed. When their hands moved to the buttons of their vest, Cassie reached up, stilling them with a gentle touch.
Sitting up, Cassie moved Alex’s hands to rest on their thighs.
“Let me,” she said, her voice low and husky.
Reaching for the buttons, Cassie slowly, deliberately freed the two buttons.
She placed a hand on their upper chest, dragging it gradually down, between their breasts, over their tight abs.
Coming to a rest on the belt of their pants.
Alex’s breath hitched when she followed her hand with her tongue, mapping out the contours of their skin. The heat of her mouth pulling goosebumps to the surface of Alex’s skin.
Cassie ran her hands up Alex’s sides under the vest, brushing the sides of their breasts as she passed. She gently pushed it off their shoulders and down their arms. Pulling it off, she dropped it off the side of the bed.
“God, you are so sexy.” Cassie rested her forehead on Alex’s sternum, her warm breath ghosting across their skin. She kissed her way across their breast, a low hiss coming from them when she gently kissed their nipple.
Cassie’s lips wrapped around the nub, sucking and lavishing it with her tongue - the hiss turning into a husky moan that echoed in the quiet room. Cassie grasped their other nipple between her fingers. Pulling and twisting in time to her tongue.
Alex reached for Cassie, holding her against their chest. One hand clutching the back of her head, fingers twisting in her hair. The other, gripping the wrist of her hand toying with her nipple.
“Someone is very sensitive.” Cassie smiled against their soft skin. An unintelligible grunt was the only response.
Cassie pressed against Alex, forcing them to relinquish their hold so they could place their hands on the bed behind them. Flipping them, she continued forward until they were on their back, her tongue and fingers working magic the entire time.
Cassie couldn’t help the surge of satisfaction that coursed through her as Alex melted beneath her touch. They looked wrecked already… eyes half-lidded, lips parted, chest rising and falling rapidly as Cassie’s tongue traced lazy circles over their sensitive nipple.
She smirked against their skin, giving one last teasing flick with her tongue before shifting her focus to the other side, lavishing it with the same slow, deliberate attention.
Alex’s hips bucked up, and Cassie’s hand slid down to press them back against the mattress, holding them in place.
“Impatient much?” she teased, her voice rough with want.
Alex let out a breathy laugh, though it came out more like a moan. “You’re—fuck—you’re killing me here. ”
Cassie bit down gently, just enough to make Alex arch off the bed, a sharp gasp tearing from their throat. “Good,” she whispered. “I want you to feel everything.”
When she finally lifted her head, Alex’s cheeks were flushed, their pupils blown wide. Cassie kissed them again… deep and hungry, swallowing every sound they made. Her hands wandered down, tracing over their ribs and stomach, committing every line and curve to memory.
Alex’s hands found her waist, pulling her closer, and Cassie let herself be drawn in, pulling her dress up around her waist so she could straddle their hips as their mouths collided again.
Alex’s fingers dipped under the satin, skimming the bare skin of her back before reaching up to tug the zipper down.
They pushed the fabric up and over her head, tossing it aside without looking, their attention completely focused on her.
Cassie grinned, reaching behind her back to undo her bra, tossing it in the general direction of her dress.
She lowered herself to press kisses along Alex’s jaw, nipping at the sensitive spot just below their ear.
Alex groaned, their hands tightening on her waist, guiding her hips to grind down against them.
The friction sent a jolt of heat through Cassie’s body, and she couldn’t help the needy sound that slipped out.
“God, Cassie,” Alex whispered, their voice rough and strained. “You’re gonna be the death of me.”
Cassie kissed them harder, threading her fingers through their hair and tugging just enough to make them gasp. “Good to know I’m having an effect,” she murmured, shifting her hips just enough to make them curse under their breath.
“Effect, my ass,” Alex shot back, their hands sliding down to grip her thighs, fingertips digging into the soft flesh. “You’re driving me insane.”
