Side Story A Date with Ashrin

After the Core reset and the system rebooted, everything was... still.

Like the game didn't know what to do with us anymore.

We did the next logical thing:

We went on a date.

Ashrin suggested the tea gardens.

I suggested the abandoned airship dock.

We compromised and ended up at the library's forbidden rooftop, which technically doesn't exist unless you believe in stairs that lie.

He brought pastries.

I brought a book titled "How To Date Your Glitch Companion Without Triggering a Reformat."

We sat on the ledge and watched the fractured sky stitch itself back together.

"I still glitch when I'm nervous," he admitted, brushing a hand through his hair as static danced across his knuckles.

"I still feel like I'm not supposed to be real," I replied, sipping tea.

"Do you think this counts as a happily ever after?" he asked.

I looked at the way his eyes sparked with light and something like hope.

"Maybe," I said. "Or maybe it's a messy middle. But I think we've earned it."

He smiled.

Then the rooftop cracked slightly beneath us.

We laughed.

And for the first time since I woke up in this world... I felt safe.
