Epilogue

Steel got the text moments before the helicopter landed outside the house. Knowing his mate would be alarmed, since no visitors were expected, he rushed to Jackson’s study where he found him calmly feeding Daniel.

“Babe, did you hear the helicopter?” asked Steel.

“Yup.”

Perplexed by Jackson’s calm demeanor, Steel asked, “Do you know who it is?”

“Don’t you know?” Jackson replied.

Steel searched his mate’s face and saw the tiny twitch of his lips before it disappeared. Eyes narrowing as he glared at his mate, sure now he was being played. “My brother told you already, didn’t he?”

Unable to keep up the pretense, Jackson broke into a smile. “Yeah, Slate sent me a text last night, letting me know he’d be stopping by to meet me and see Daniel. He asked me not to tell you because he wanted to see you go all freaky trying to protect me and your son.”

“That fucker! Just wait…when he finds his mate, I’m going to enjoy getting back at him.” Steel swirled around as he heard the front door slam shut followed by his brother’s voice.

“Hey, Mom, Dad, I’m here! Where’s my nephew? Anybody home? Where’s my welcoming committee?” Slate yelled, standing in the empty great room.

Cody came into the room with a big grin on his face. “Hey, Slate, good to see you! How long are you staying? You should see Jake and Jessica…they’ve grown so much you won’t even recognize them,” he exclaimed, as he gave Slate a hug.

“Good to see you too. Can’t wait to see the twins! How are Kieran, Theo and Norman doing?”

“Good. Did you know Kieran is the Fated Mate of my brother Logan?”

“No Shit! Wow! Kieran? Our Kieran? Wow! I wonder why no one told me?”

“Who knows? Things have been a little hectic around here since Josiah pulled his new shit and filed his complaint against us with the High Council. Does Steel know you’re here?”

“Yes, I do,” said Steel, suddenly appearing. Walking up to his brother, he gave him a hug. “Jackson told me.”

“Really? When? Last night or just now?” Slate snickered.

“Fuck off. How long can you stay?” asked Steel.

“Not long. I have to get back to finish cleaning up the mess in Tajikistan, and I was hoping to speak to Kieran, Theo and Norman while I was here. And that reminds me…why the fuck didn’t you tell me Kieran was mated?”

“I told you, you just didn’t listen.”

“Bullshit! I would have remembered that.”

“So, I’m telling you now. Kieran’s Fated Mate is Logan…Jackson’s twin.”

Shrugging his shoulders, Slate said, “Listen, I need to speak to all of them, so do I need Cody’s permission since he’s their guardian?”

“Nope, not needed,” Cody answered. “They’re all over eighteen and are adults, according to Kieran. But they’re not here because they’re in Scotland with Dylon’s mom,” he explained.

“In Scotland? What the fuck are they doing in Scotland?” asked Slate.

“Taking a vacation,” Cody said.

Steel then beckoned to Slate. “C’mon, let’s go see Jackson. He’s in his study feeding Daniel. Wait till you see how big he is!”

“Where’s Mom and Dad?”

“Probably in their suite having morning tea…I’ll take you there after you meet my mate.”

“Catch you later, Cody. And I want to see the twins!”

“Sure, maybe before lunch,” Cody said, walking towards his suite, “now is nap time and I have to help Dylon.”

Steel led Slate down the hall to Jackson’s study. Giving a short knock, he opened the door and said, “Hey babe, meet my baby brother…”

Dakota was in the kitchen and could hear their voices fade as Steel shut the door to Jackson’s study.

He breathed a sigh of relief as he leaned against the wall.

What the fuck am I going to do until Slate leaves?

And he would leave…because Slate preferred to be on the road, traveling the world and fucking guys in every city he was in.

He was the exact opposite of Dakota who preferred to stay home and take care of the people he loved. So why is he my Fated Mate?
