Chapter 13
Christmas Morning…
Wearing the Santa Baby sheer red teddy trimmed in faux white fur that left very little to the imagination and that she had purchased just for this occasion, Simone tiptoed to the fireplace where the two stockings hung tucked Donnie’s surprise in the one with his name.
She couldn’t wait to see his reaction when he woke and opened up the envelope and saw what was inside.
Mission accomplished, she pivoted on her bare feet and squealed, jumping, seeing him standing in the doorway of the living room bare chested wearing only the matching red Santa boxer shorts she’d given him last night.
She’d been extra careful not to have made a sound as she sneaked in here from the bedroom.
But he must have woken when she left the bed and lain there with his eyes closed.
“Was that for me?” he asked, brow cocked.
“Uh-huh,” she said, trying to look innocent.
“As well as what you’re wearing?”
“It sure isn’t for Santa.”
“It better not be,” he growled and crossed the room, pulling her to him. “Merry Christmas, baby.”
“Merry Christmas,” she murmured.
“Can I take a peek at what you put in my stocking?”
She nodded.
He reached inside and pulled out the square envelope. Then scooped her up in his arms and carried her back to the bedroom.
“Aren’t you going to open it?” she asked.
“I will, when we are back in bed,” he said.
Simone pouted, not understanding how he would wait to open something so important, but then he didn’t realize it was that important yet.
As was Donnie’s usual manner, he stepped up on the bed and planted her there before he settled beside her, then he finally opened the envelope and pulled out the black and white photo of the gray and white images.
“I don’t get it what is this? And why would you give this to me…
” his voice trailed off as he studied the photo more closely and then he pointed to the photo and looked at her, his eyes widened. “Why is there a Baby A and a Baby B?”
“Because there are two.”
He rose up on his knees and pivoted to where he was facing her and in his movement he ended up getting too close to the edge of the mattress and he fell off backwards, landing on his backside.
“Donnie!” she squealed leaning over looking at him in shock.
“We’re having twins? B-but I didn’t even think you wanted a baby? You kept talking about not wanting to gain weight.”
“Ingenious of me, wasn’t it?” she purred. “Kept everyone none the wiser, even you.”
He slowly sat up and he stared once again of the photo he still clutched. “I’m gonna be a dad.”
Simone’s phone rang and she answered. “Merry Christmas, Colleen.”
“It would have been if that crash upstairs hadn’t woken Christopher. What are you and Don Juan doing?”
“Sorry. He fell off the bed,” Simone explained. “We didn’t meant to wake your baby. Do you want him to come down and get him back to sleep for you?”
“No. I’m sure you are in the middle of something festive if he fell off the bed,” Colleen said.
“Nothing like that, girlfriend, get your mind out of the gutter,” Simone laughed. “I gave him his gift and it blew him away.”
“Must have been some gift,” Colleen said. “See you for dinner at Carly’s later.”
Donnie crawled back onto the bed and kissed her, then he pushed the tedding up and kissed her stomach. “Hello little Donovan’s. Welcome to the family.”
Simone giggled.
He looked at her. “You really had me going. I was convinced I was going to have to get creative to convince you to have a baby.”
“Nope.”
“How’d we luck up with twins?”
“Apparently they run in my family,” she said.
“You never told me,” he said.
“My mom never told me,” Simone said. “Until I asked her if they did and boy was I shocked when she started naming off how many sets there had been. Wait till she opens up her Christmas present from us today with the two onesies in there that says grammies ‘lil angels.”
He chuckled. “What if they are ‘lil terrors?”
“Babies are never that,” Simone corrected.
“If they’re ours they’ll be bad asses.”
Simone rolled her eyes as he raised above her and lowered himself gently so not to crush her as he began to kiss her neck. “Did you know one of advantages of being pregnant? Your hormones go crazy increasing the females libido, demanding sex in the first months.”
He popped his head up to look at her. “Really?”
“Or at least I’ve been wanting it,” she clarified.
“Then I better do something about that,” he said and quickly stripped off the panties from her teddy.
She laughed. Ignoring her cellphones ring this time as they kissed.
