Chapter 25

Chapter

Twenty-Five

“I know you not about to cry,” Akeem teases as he stares at the reflection of himself and Sunjiya in their bathroom mirror. She’s massaging her face moisturizer into her skin, and as always, his arms are wrapped around her.

“I just didn’t think you were taking any more jobs this year. You said you only do two a year,” she says with a pout.

“Two or three,” he corrects her. “I’m trying to pay for a wedding.”

“You know I don’t want a lot. That’s your momma. Me, you, Darisha, and your family on a beach somewhere. That’s all I need.”

“Our family,” he corrects her. “And destination weddings aren’t cheap.” She sucks her teeth.

“Well, can you find and kill whoever fast?”

Chuckling, he shakes his head. “Bae, that’s fucked up and you sound serious too.”

“’Cause I am. You’re going to Dominica. I’ve always wanted to go there. You know it’s on my list of possible destinations.”

“Then come. I’ll stay and we can make a vacation of it. We need one.”

“Yes.”

“Yes, you’ll come?”

“Hell yes. I can look for flights after class on Thursday.”

After peppering kisses on the side of her neck, he says, “Do that and we can stay until Monday.”

“Can I know what hotel you’re staying in?” she asks. Details about his jobs are always kept from her for her protection.

“I’ll text you the info when I get there, but don’t worry, I’ll upgrade my room for our stay. I can handle that, Miss Melanin Voyages.”

“You need to get used to saying Mrs. Akeem Simmons. As soon as we pick the location, we’re getting married.”

“Okay, Mrs. Simmons,’ he says with a smile.

It’s been a month since he spent the night learning every detail about her past. The conversation was informative; hard to hear at times but they made it through it.

It was their first step in rebuilding their foundation of trust. Because their love is all affirming and strong, it’s been easy to rebuild the trust.

“I’m going to miss you,” she utters, then turns to face him.

“You know I’m gonna miss you too.”

“Good and no more jobs for at least eight months after this one.”

“Eight months? Bet. I got you and maybe longer. I need to chill anyway until Axton has his procedure.”

The week of tests in Crescent Falls went well for Axton.

He met whatever markers or levels required to qualify him for the new procedure.

Now, it’s just a waiting game. The next round of the actual procedure isn’t until early next year.

To get acquainted with the city, Axton is temporarily relocating there in a few months.

“I’m praying it works for him,” she says.

“We all are,” he says. Then, the sound of his phone vibrating on the table by the bed causes him to step back. “That’s probably Axton with the final details,” he says.

“Get it. I need to finish anyway,” she urges and he walks out.

She finishes her facial care then exits the bathroom.

He’s not in the bedroom but she hears him.

So she grabs her tote and keys and walks out.

He’s in the living room on the phone with Axton so she journeys on to the kitchen to grab her tumbler and lunch bag.

It’s Monday so she doesn’t have class but is going into the office to work.

All furniture and décor has been delivered and set up and her signage was delivered Friday. It’s being put up this afternoon.

Just as she’s about to walk to the bar for ice, Akeem walks into the kitchen and she smirks.

Look at my man! He’s wearing a pair of black boxers and nothing else.

Between his handsome face, muscular arms, ripped chest, and smile, she’s completely mesmerized, admiring him like it’s her first time seeing him.

“You weren’t going to tell me goodbye?” he utters. To her surprise, he backs her against the refrigerator. Her breathing hitches and she lightly gulps for air.

“You know I was,” she admits and he smiles, not his regular one but a sexy, slightly devilish smirk.

“So, kiss me goodbye then.”

“Just a kiss. I have to get to the office,” she says.

“Okay.” His hand moves to the waist tie on her shirt dress and unties it. “I only need five minutes,” he mumbles.

She lets out a breathy grin. “I can’t,” she says, pleading with her lips but her body says the total opposite. Any time he’s this close, her body temperature rises. When his hands slide under her dress into her panties, she heats all the way up. “Baby, that’s not playing fair.”

“Yes, it is.”

A moan escapes her lips when she feels pressure on her clit from his thumb. He’s not leaving Austin without being deep inside her.

Massaging her clit with his thumb and gently assaulting her opening with two fingers, Akeem takes her on a journey to an amazing orgasm. She feels it building.

“Baby, what are you doing?” she asks. The question clearly warrants no response because they both know what he’s doing. He’s driving her to the edge of ecstasy.

He doesn’t bother to answer either. Only focused on his mission, he brings her to climax. Her legs shake and her thighs squeeze together, trapping his hand. The explosion hits her with so much force, her entire body quakes as it ripples through her.

“Shit!” she trills and a smile spreads across his handsome face.

As she relishes in her orgasmic trance, she feels her panties pushed to the floor.

Any thoughts of getting ice, the office, or her signage vanish when she feels him enter her.

“Akeem,” she moans as she contracts her muscles around his rock-hard dick.

He stretches and fills her so perfectly each and every time. This has to be what heaven feels like.

“Damn, bae! You feel so fucking good,” he whispers into her ear as he thrusts deep inside her.

“You too. Shit,” she utters.

Without breaking his rhythm, he places her on the kitchen island. Once he positions her left leg over his shoulder, it’s on. His thrusts become deeper and he lands right on her G-spot. Within minutes, she rocks back to ecstasy.

“Damn,” he groans as he feels her.

“Oh shit,” she whimpers. The feeling is amazing and she’s desperately trying to brace myself for the oncoming impact. One of her hands grip the edge of the island and the other rests on his chest.

“Fuck, bae,” he growls as he knocks on her spot. Together, they both succumb to the feeling and release. “Nothing’s better than this,” he utters.

Before kissing his lips, she agrees with him. “Nothing at all.”

After catching their breaths and composure, Akeem carries her to their room, lays her on the bed, and makes love to her again before he leaves for Dominica.

Because of its rich cultural history woven from African, European, and indigenous descent, Dominica has always been a top destination for Sunjiya.

It’s a hidden gem, practically untouched, with its turquoise waters and emerald rainforests.

In the midst of the beauty is the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort the restaurant is nestled beside lush pools and the ocean.

She steps inside to the hostess and is immediately taken through the restaurant out to their open-air terrace.

When Sunjiya steps out, her entire body freezes.

She cannot believe her eyes. Not only does Akeem look sexy and casual in a white, loose, summer set, standing in front of a long dining table filled with the people they love.

Quise, Axton, Miss Debrah, Mister Ahmad, Darisha and her boyfriend Trent are all smiling and dressed in nudes and browns.

Aunt Pri is even at the table looking gorgeous in a brown dress. Her presence means the world to Sunjiya because it’s proof that unconditional love does truly exist. When Sunjiya reached out and came clean to Aunt Pri a month ago, Pri didn’t hesitate to forgive her.

The only muscle moving on her body is the one that supports her smile. A big one is plastered across her face as she stares at the unexpected but beautiful surprise. When Akeem realizes she isn’t moving, he steps over and grabs her hands.

“Surprised?” is all he asks and she manages to nod. Amusedly, he smirks. “We can’t start our rehearsal dinner if you stay over here.”

Rehearsal? Did he just say what I think he did? Rehearsal dinner?

“Our what?” she stutters.

“Our rehearsal dinner. Tomorrow, you’re gonna make me the happiest man alive, but tonight, it’s our dinner,” he says and tears instantly well in her eyes. When they fall, he thumbs them away. “I couldn’t wait another day and I’m hoping you feel the same. Will you marry me tomorrow?”

“You know I will. I’ll marry you tonight, baby,” she admits.

“Nah, tonight is dinner and dessert. Tomorrow is forever,” he says.

“Forever, tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that. You’re stuck with me,” she repeats before lovingly kissing his lips.
