Chapter 5

Now

There’s a startling light and a terrifying whirl of noise. What is happening? Where is Amy? Then, with a sudden jolt, the strange tumbling sensation passes. I’m no longer on my feet. I’m lying, breathless and shocked in the dark.

I open my eyes. I’m staring at the bruised sky: sheets of rain blurring my vision, water running into my mouth. I’m lying on my back, brain exploding with questions. What has happened? And, as I lurch to sit upright, where is Amy?
