Chapter 8 Confrontation and Confession
Back home, I felt moody and poured out my frustrations to Pei Du.
But as he listened, his expression seemed off.
His eyes lowered slightly. The usual gentleness in them carried an indescribable chill.
“Pei Zhao…”
Pei Du patted my head soothingly.
“You don’t need to mind him. He’s still young and inevitably lacks some manners.”
Only then did I realize I had spoken ill of his nephew in front of him. Feeling a little embarrassed, I tried to smooth it over.
“It’s actually not that serious. I think he still knows proper etiquette. He came back and immediately paid respects to the elders. Maybe he’s just not familiar with me and felt shy.”
“Is that so?”
Pei Du played gently with my long hair, his tone neither warm nor cold.
That night, in the middle of things on the bed, he suddenly pulled away.
I opened my eyes in confusion.
“Wen Xueyi, say you love me, and I’ll… continue.”
I stared at him, stunned that he could say such words with that saintly face.
Pei Du was growing more and more improper in bed!
Still…
I licked my lips. My body grew even hotter.
Where was this sudden seductive feeling coming from?
“Second Master…”
I called softly, leaning close to his ear and whispering those three words.
His eyes darkened further.
“Do you truly love me? What if we hadn’t been betrothed since childhood?”
“What kind of question is that?” I said, a little annoyed. “I should be the one asking you. If we hadn’t been betrothed since childhood, someone like you wouldn’t even be in my line even if people were queuing.”
“No one can force me to do anything.”
Pei Du kissed the corner of my lips lightly.
“If I hadn’t decided on you at first sight, even a childhood betrothal would have been useless.”
I caught the meaning behind his words and wrapped myself around him, whining, “I know you love me… Let’s get back to it. Don’t keep me waiting.”
Pei Du chuckled lowly. “Alright.”
Everything blurred before my eyes. Tonight, Pei Du was especially intense.
