EPILOGUE

The event ran like a dream.

Thanks to Pippa’s and Rory’s contacts, the food was brilliant and turned up on time, without a single piece of plastic in sight.

Jenny and Caleb, dressed in suits, worked the room like pros, managing to contain their nerves and chat with people who, only two hours before, hadn’t even a clue where they were heading.

Annabel was there too, bubbly as ever, enthusing to anyone who came near about their new, ethically minded approach to business and how everyone can do something to help the planet.

And Fiona? As she handed out business cards, she felt the small flame of hope grow stronger. Maybe she’d finally found her calling. But the thought that lingered in her mind, long after that evening was over, was that she had made a start, to help all the Marthas out there. She wasn’t going to change the world overnight. Perhaps even a hundred events down the line, she would still be fighting to see the changes she wanted. But she would still be fighting, because that was what Martha deserved.
