Chapter 75
Fuck. The elevator is taking too long.
“Come on. This will be faster.”
I grab Sterling’s hand and don’t wait for a reply, amazed that he’s letting me drag him to the stairwell. I’m half convinced this is a dream. That I didn’t really kiss him and he didn’t really kiss me back, and I’m about to wake up, back in that room with Tegan.
Sterling stops me at the second step, crowding me against the wall and teasing his lips over mine. “Slow down.” I can taste the humor in his voice, feel it as he pulls me into a deep, dragged-out kiss.
His grip, my God. He lifts me with ease, pressing his weight into me. I can’t get enough.
I need more. Need him closer, harder, faster.
He groans when I scratch my nails across his scalp, and finally—finally—he gives me what I want.
“Eager,” he says, pulling back from the kiss as he rocks into me.
Through denim and cotton, I can feel the hard line of his cock, impressive already, and I need it inside of me now.
“I saw you go into the other room, and I wasn’t sure I’d see you come out,” I pant, gripping him tighter with my thighs.
“I needed to know you were safe.” The drag of his thumb along my jaw makes me ache, slow and gentle, in direct opposition to how frenzied I feel.
There’s too much clothing in the way.
“Please.”
“Tell me what you want, Mia.”
“You. It’s always been you.”
I yelp as he picks me up and carries me the rest of the way.
Is it bad form to be grateful for a hostage situation?
Sterling gets us to the seventh floor, not even letting me down as we exit the stairwell and start down the corridor. I’ve loosened the top buttons of his collar, burying my nose in the deep scent of him as he walks me to my door.
The door where Lucky stands, bearing dinner, looking delicious in a tight sweater and jeans. They hang low enough that the V of his abs is showing.
Oh.
Apprehension grips the cage of my ribs as he turns and recognizes what he’s looking at. Who.
Then … something unexpected happens.
His gaze lifts from me to Sterling, and … a sly grin curls into place. “What do we have here then? Playing hero again, Mac?”
Mac?
Sterling’s chest rumbles with a soft laugh. “I see you haven’t changed. I don’t suppose you made enough for three?”
“Only one way to find out.” He turns his charm on me. “It’s up to the lady.”
I … a zip of electricity travels up my spine. There’s a tension here I’m enjoying, even if I don’t fully understand where it came from. But, boy, am I interested in finding out.
Sterling’s hand shifts on my back, his thumb brushing the soft, tender spot between my shoulder blades, and my hunger grows into something feral, something with teeth.
Yes.
Slowly, I meet each of their gazes. “If you think you can satisfy me.”
