Chapter 11 ~ Bellamy #3
“That’s the difference between you and me, Bells.
” His smile is the embodiment of sin as he shamelessly eyes me down, drinking me in like his favourite milkshake—which is strawberry with two cherries on top, and I’m sure he doesn’t even know he’s checking me out.
“You lack restraint; you want what you want so you take, and take, but if you aren’t given exactly what it is you crave when you want it, you’ll resort to punishing the guilty party because at least then their attention is guaranteed. It’s sad, really—dare I say, pathetic?”
The silence between us is thick as fog, suffocating even, and it’s unnerving how comfortable he seems letting me drown in it.
“Is that why you fucked her?” He asks, and I’m a little lost as to who he is referring to. “Sasha, I mean? Did you want my attention even then that you had to resort to fucking other people in my face when you could have just—”
“Fuck you.”
I can’t stand how close he is to the truth—my truth, how simple it is for him to read me like I’m some open book he can summarise after one pass through. Because yeah, I did everything I could so he would see me. Did I know then that it was because I had a crush?
Maybe.
“I dare you.” He takes a step closer to me, forcing me a step back. “You want me so bad, come at me, Boy Wonder, I’m right here.”
Is he baiting me?
Am I about to get punched?
Fuck it.
“Game fucking on, princess.”
Wait.
“How do you know about Sasha?” I ask after his words register in my mind. He mentioned her twice, and it’s only now clicking.
Jesus Christ.
“Did you just call me princess?” He deflects, a bark of laughter escaping his lips. “I’m a man, Bells, not a fucking princess or damsel in distress for you to swoop in and save—but you might be after I saved your—”
“Minho!”
I need to know how he knows about Sasha and me. We can circle back to who is more of a princess later when I do eventually pound his ass into walking funny for weeks.
He’s smirking like he’s just caught his next meal, and my spine feels like spiders are crawling up and under my skin.
“Remember the day Yeseo and I were unpacking boxes into our parents’ new house, and you decided to have an all you can fuck pussy marathon while said parents were away on their honeymoon?”
The day in question is kind of coming back to me.
“One of the women you invited into your bed was Sasha,” he laughs as if he can’t believe he’d forgotten one of the dumbest things I have ever done, and I am sure he could list them. “It didn’t come to me until I saw both of you in the same room again.”
“You can’t say a word of this,” I grit out between clenched teeth.
He bites his lower lip, eyes flashing with mischief, and I know I should be furious that he chooses now to cash in on my stupidity, but I can’t help but find everything he is doing hot.
Am I sick in the head?
“And what’s stopping me, Bells?” He asks. “Because you have been nothing but a thorn in my side since I’ve been back, and I would like this to end.”
Truthfully?
Nothing is stopping him. He could report me to the NCAA and have me suspended or, worse, booted off the team, any team for that matter.
I chuckle a little because, of course, I would be reckless enough to give him ammunition against me. “You win, Minho.”
He cocks a brow. “Really?”
“Really”
“You aren’t going to fight me on this.”
It's not a question, but I answer nonetheless.
“No fight.”
Minho laughs, and the sound startles me.
“I have to say, I am a little disappointed in you, Bellamy. I was really looking forward to riling you up enough to bring back the version of you I hated, the one that really made life a little bit entertaining, but if that has passed, then I will say, it has been a hoot having you as my enemy for as long as it lasted.”
He turns to leave when I utter the last thing I expect him to hear me say. “I said I wouldn’t fight you on this one, Minho; I didn't say I wouldn't find some way to get you back for this.”
“Is that a threat, brother?”
“Stepbrother,” I corrected him for once because finally, the great all-knowing jackass slipped. “And, I don’t know, what would turn you on more? A threat or a promise?”
He pouts as if offended I would even ask, and when I spot the duffel bag he’s carrying and his favourite headphones around his neck, the ones he only wears before an extensive warm-up before he—
There’s no way.
I take in what he’s wearing for the first time since he got here, and my short-lived victory goes out the imaginary window in my mind.
The prodigy has returned and is declaring war, it would seem. Exposing me was never his plan; waiting for this moment was.
Fucking diabolical.
I shake my head. “No way.”
His grin widens devilishly.
“Yes way.”
“No.”
“Bells, I hate to break it to you, but when my dad calls Yeseo begging to get me on the phone and then proceeds to beg me to save your worthless excuse of a hockey team—” he stops, leans in, making me bump into the wall behind me.
I gasp before I am caged by him, his hands on either side of my head as he brings his face so close to mine I could forget how to breathe. “You put on a smile and say yes, sir.”
Fuck me.
And to think I was leaving here thinking I would have the upper hand in this little game of ours after the little surprise I put together after Roy’s untimely exit.
I’d say, after today, we are going to be on even ground before the first shots are fired, because if a war is what Minho wants—I will be more than happy to oblige him.
Because I’ll fucking win.
