Chapter Twelve
Talia
One Week Later
Since Henry had Soren shot, things have been suspiciously calm.
They’ve gone about their normal lives, going to work, fulfilling contracts, and coming home.
I mostly just sit around, but I also read and clean.
I am bored out of my fucking mind most of the time, but it’s better than how things used to be.
Soren and I don’t scream and fight anymore, which I guess is good.
At night, I sit on his cock and slowly ride him as he feeds from me.
It’s the only time—outside of him aggressively cuddling me in his sleep—that we allow ourselves to set it all aside and do what needs to be done.
I’ve accepted that until the bond is broken, we are stuck.
He will lose his goddamn mind or get himself shot again if he doesn’t feed, and I’ll turn into more of a raging bitch.
This way, we are calm. He is alert. No one is screaming. I can live with this.
What I can’t live with is how goddamn annoying Shelby is. Although Soren hasn’t fucked her, I can always tell when she’s near him. It doesn’t matter where I am or what I’m doing; I just know.
I can feel the burning pain in my body every fucking time she touches him, and I’m going to lose my goddamn mind if she doesn’t keep her fucking hands to herself.
I’m starting to learn the difference between her touching him and him touching her, and it’s always her.
If he isn’t reciprocating touch, does she not fucking understand? Why isn’t he telling her to stop?
Micah has been here most of the day, but I know he is about to go up to the office. Pissed off when I feel her touching him again, I walk downstairs. Right as I get to Micah, pain stabs through my abdomen. I don’t know what the fuck he’s doing, but he’s letting her try to get him off again.
“Fuck!” I growl and double over to try to breathe through the waves of pain.
“He back at it?” Micah asks gently.
“Take me to the office,” I growl. “Now. Take me to the fucking office.”
“Alright. Come on,” he says, helping me stand. The only time they ever put their hands on me is when Soren is doing some stupid fucking shit like this, knowing it will cause him pain. It’s not as intense, but it’s just something instinctive that he knows someone is touching his mate.
When we get to the SUV, Micah drives us toward the office. The pain never subsides for the entire drive, so I am raging mad by the time we stop.
“Gun,” I demand, holding out my hand to Micah. He smirks at me and pulls his gun out of his holster before laying it in my palm.
I get out and walk with it down at my side into the building. Micah walks behind me, and the other guys see us right away when we enter the building.
“Hold up, Annie Oakley,” Laurent says, stepping into my path. “Get the fuck out of my way,” I growl.
“Who are you shooting?” he asks.
“You, if you don’t fucking move,” I shout. “Move, Laurent.”
“Dude, move. I wanna see his head explode,” Vaughn says with a grin. I glare at him, and Laurent moves. Stepping past him, I get into the elevator and they all follow. They watch me as we go up, but do not interfere.
The doors open, and I stomp toward Soren’s office door.
“You know, I’m getting real fucking tired of being in pain because you can’t keep your goddamn dick in your pants,” I say as I barge in.
Shelby is on her knees with his cock down her throat.
Instead of shooting her, I grab shit off his desk and throw it at her.
She screams as she scoots back on her ass until she is pressed into a corner with the pistol pressed against her forehead.
“No, no, no,” she whimpers. “Please, don’t shoot me. He…”
“Get your shit and get the fuck out of this office. If I ever see you near him again, I will blow your goddamn brain out. Do I make myself clear?” I growl at her.
“Y-Yes,” she stammers. She is in tears, and the stench of urine gives away that she’s pissed herself in fear of me. Good. I fire a round into the floor next to her for good measure.
“Go, bitch!” I scream at her. “Get the fuck out.”
Shelby scrambles up from the floor and bolts out of the room sobbing. I turn to Soren and walk closer so I can press the gun to his head.
“Why are you here?” Soren grunts out.
“Why?” I laugh, but nothing about this is funny. “I better never find out you’ve touched another woman.”
“What are you going to do, shoot me?” Soren laughs. I lower the gun and fire a round into his thigh. “You fucking bitch!” He hisses. Apparently, if I hurt him, he still heals, but I don’t feel the pain as much as if someone else hurts him.
“Never again,” I threaten. “If I ever feel you touch another woman, or let another woman touch you, I will make eternity a fucking nightmare for you. You might be this big bad vampire, but I have not one goddamn thing to lose. Keep fucking with me, Soren.”
“I don’t need you,” he growls.
“Yeah?” I ask. “Is that why I’m the only one who can get you off? Is that why you moan like a little bitch every goddamn night buried in my cunt? Keep fucking denying it, Soren. Maybe one day God will have mercy on me, and it will be true.”
“Damn, I like her more and more every day,” Vaughn laughs.
“He hit the fucking jackpot,” Diego adds with laughter.
“Fine,” Soren growls. “If you want to offer up your cunt to me so badly…”
Soren stands and shoves me over his desk. He rips my panties off and slams into my pussy, making us both groan as all of the tension between us melts away. I move up to my hands to push back on him, and he grunts as he starts fucking me hard and fast.
“Oh fuck,” I moan, letting my head fall to the side, exposing my neck.
Soren doesn’t hesitate to grab me by the hair and pull my head back so he can bite down.
I moan louder when he starts feeding from me as he fucks me harder and deeper.
He sets a pace that no human could match, and it forces an orgasm from me that is better than anything I have ever felt before.
When Soren comes, his moans send me spiraling into another. He pulls out of me, but doesn’t let me go right away. “Stop being a fucking brat,” he murmurs against my head before roughly kissing my temple.
“Stop being a fucking idiot,” I counter, and I laugh when he smacks my ass.
“Well then,” Micah says. “I didn’t plan to bring her, but she bullied me into it.”
“I did not,” I say with a frown. “You were more than happy to pick me up in your arms.”
“You did what?!” Soren booms.
“You little shit,” Micah laughs. “She was in pain and demanded that I bring her here. Next time I drag her out by her hair. Deal?”
“Better,” Soren says.
“Asshole,” I gasp and smack Soren’s arm. He grins at me, and I realize that this is the first time he has smiled at me. Like a real, genuine smile. I don’t say anything, because I don’t want to ruin it.
“We have a contract that needs to be handled,” Micah says.
“Alright,” Soren says. “We can drop you off at home, Talia.”
“Okay,” I say. “Try not to lose your head again.”
“You think you’re a funny little brat, huh?” he says, frowning at me.
“Yep,” I say with a smile.
Soren is without a doubt a monster, and we might be stuck, but I am moving through this life with him with eyes wide open, fully aware that he chooses me, even when he doesn’t want to. That’s more respect than I’ve ever been offered, and that means something. Maybe oblivion isn’t so bad after all.
