Chapter 8
Chapter Eight
“Hmm.”
At the sound of her Daddy’s voice, Amber peaked toward the doorway to find both men standing just inside the nursery. They had their hands on their hips but a bemused look on their faces.
Amber had a new moment of clarity. Her Daddy might be firm. He would have rules. He would enforce them. But he would also be soft and kind. He wouldn’t get seriously angry and yell at her or abuse her.
She realized this way of life was sort of a game.
A titillating game. A game where she let him baby her, and she obeyed.
But there was an inherent expectation that she would not always be the well-behaved obedient Little girl.
She would break the rules on purpose because it was part of the lifestyle.
Isaac had this odd firm look on his face, his brow furrowed but his eyes dancing with mirth. His mouth was almost a straight line, but not quite. The corners were slightly turned up because he couldn’t help his bemusement.
“We leave you alone for a few minutes, and you girls discuss something so naughty that you end up in a fit of giggles…” he said.
Hayes bent down, snagged Rylee around the waist, and tossed her over his shoulder. He started tickling her, keeping her pinned safely with one arm around her thighs, her head dangling over his back.
Rylee was laughing so hard that Amber couldn’t stop giggling. Her dress was up around her waist, her panties fully visible to everyone.
It should have shocked Amber for these men to behave in such a silly manner, not caring that the girls were barely covered.
Amber didn’t think she’d ever seen Rylee’s panties in her life.
They’d been friends since they were young, but they’d always worn the long dresses with layers of shifts.
They hadn’t accompanied each other to the bathroom or anything.
It wasn’t heard of in the valley. Modesty had been drilled into them. And now…
A weight lifted off Amber’s chest. A heaviness she hadn’t known she’d carried with her all her life. A burden. The burden of being what was expected of her. The perfect mate. She’d prepared for twenty years to service her mate.
She was going to service him all right. With her mouth.
That thought snuck up on her so fast that she gasped as she sat up from where she’d been sprawled on the floor.
Isaac squatted down next to her and stroked her cheek. “I want to know what just went through your mind, Little girl.”
Her face heated. There was no way she could tell him that. Not ever. Certainly not in front of other people. Why had she even thought such a thing?
But she certainly had. Isaac had put his mouth on her pussy last night. He’d sucked on her until she’d screamed out her pleasure. She wanted to do the same thing to him.
His smile grew before he scooped her off the floor and lifted her into his arms. His lips came to her ear, making her shiver as he whispered, “My Little girl just had the naughtiest of thoughts. I can smell your arousal. Your panties are soaked, aren’t they?”
She was marginally aware that Hayes had carried Rylee out of the nursery. Based on her laughter, he was still tormenting her in the living room. Amber was alone with Isaac, but that didn’t keep embarrassment from flooding her cheeks and neck with heat.
Daddy slid one hand down to cup her bottom over her panties and then held her gaze as he eased his fingers between her legs. “Soaked.”
She bit her lip.
His lips came back to her ear. “After our guests leave, I’m going to spank your bottom hard enough to make you think twice about twirling around in circles in the future, and then we’re going to do whatever it was you just envisioned.”
Her breath hitched. How had he known she was spinning? She stared at him with wide eyes.
Daddy turned in a circle and pointed toward the upper corner of the room where a small black box was mounted. “Camera, remember?”
She sighed.
He kissed all over her face. “I’ll never leave you anywhere without taking a monitor with me, naughty girl.”
“But, Daddy, you didn’t say I couldn’t spin in circles.”
He chuckled deeply. “I bet Rylee told you it was forbidden. Not to mention, you knew deep inside that I would frown at anything that dangerous. I thought you were surely going to fall and hit your head when you started spinning around and around until you were so dizzy you nearly collapsed. It took every ounce of willpower I had not to rush in here and stop you.”
She sighed and fiddled with the front of his shirt, staring absently at his chest. “Maybe you should give me a warning this first time.”
He laughed so hard the room shook before kissing her soundly.
“Let’s go outside and find out what you’re able to see in the distance while the sun is out.
We’ll discuss a more comprehensive list of rules later.
But I can tell you now, naughty Little mate, common sense is going to trump the actual list every time.
If you do something dangerous, you can expect to end up over my knees.
I don’t need to specifically tell you not to jump off the roof to punish you for doing so. ” He lifted a brow.
She exhaled slowly. “Yes, Sir.” She lifted her gaze. “But, uh, I need to tell you something.”
He hitched her up higher so they were face-to-face. “What is it, Little one?”
“I can see through walls.”
He started chuckling. “Why am I not surprised?” He carried her out of the nursery to join Rylee and Hayes in the living room.
Rylee was still giggling, a huge smile on her face that warmed Amber’s heart.
It spoke volumes about what Amber could expect in the coming weeks and months.
Rylee was obviously deliriously happy. Even though she had to deal with weird scent issues, she was totally in love with her mate, clinging to him with both arms. She was oblivious to the fact that her dress was hitched up and everyone could see her panties.
At some point in the past two months, Rylee had apparently stopped caring about the kind of modesty they’d been raised to adhere to.
Isaac continued through to the front door, opened it, and stepped out onto the porch. The only time Amber had been outside since she’d arrived had been for a few minutes last night after she’d shifted.
“Do we know where exactly Drow is being held?” Isaac asked, glancing at Hayes.
“Yes. I can pinpoint it on a map.”
Isaac slid Amber to her feet in the clearing. “Amber could see that location last night when she shifted, so we know she at least has that distance in wolf form.”
Hayes nodded. “Good starting point.”
Isaac lifted Amber’s chin. “What we’re most curious about is finding out the difference between what your human can see and what your wolf can see.”
“Oh. Okay. That makes sense.” She glanced at Rylee. “Is it different for you? Can your wolf scent better?”
“Yes, but it’s not so much different as sharper or something.
It’s hard to explain. I think my wolf can focus better and pinpoint more specific scents.
My human is bombarded with so many scents it becomes frustrating.
I think it’s similar for Molly. She can hear every noise around her, but it’s not quite as annoying to her wolf.
Plus, both of us are getting better at ignoring the things that don’t matter. ”
“That makes sense.” Amber didn’t think her frustration level was going to be anywhere near either of theirs. After all, she could always close her eyes and block everything. At least she assumed that to be the case.
Isaac rounded behind her and set his hands on her shoulders. “Just relax, Little one. It doesn’t matter what you can or can’t see. We’re just gathering information, okay?”
“Yes, Daddy.” It was hard to avoid feeling the pressure of her odd gift, though. After all, it could be the difference between life and death for someone someday if she didn’t hone her power.
Amber tipped her head back and looked all around her. Starting from one spot she described what she could see. She pointed as she spoke, elaborating about homes and even a few occupants who happened to be outside.
Sometimes Isaac or Hayes would comment, telling her whose house she was seeing and even which Alpha and his mate. They seemed surprised when she told them about an older couple.
Isaac squeezed her shoulders. “Those are our parents. You met them yesterday.”
She stopped her rundown to tip her head back and look up at her Daddy. “Ironically, I didn’t see your parents yesterday.”
Isaac chuckled. “True. Well, now you’re seeing them.”
“What are they up to?” Hayes asked, his voice filled with mirth. “Please tell me they’re kissing or something so we can harass them.”
Rylee swatted at her Daddy’s arm. “You will do no such thing.”
He feigned injury, rubbing his forearm as though she’d hurt him. “Just kidding, Little mate. I promised you I wouldn’t use your skill for my own amusement, and I won’t do that to Amber either.”
She narrowed her gaze at him. “You better not. If I find out you told anyone their dinner was stinky, I will never forgive you.”
He laughed. “It won’t happen, Baby girl. I give you my word.”
Amber smiled as she resumed her description of their surroundings. It was strange, but she was growing used to her ability. Eventually it would be second nature.
“Can you see anything farther, Little one?” Isaac asked when she finished categorizing everything within a few miles. It was going to take her some time to memorize distance and be able to judge how far away things were, but this exercise was helping start that process.
After another deep inhale, she focused again, looking past the homes of the Alpha Protectors who lived on this side of the mountain. “I see people I don’t know. I assume those are the bears?”
