Chapter 7 #2

Eve sank into her chair and shook her head.

Arabella offered me a smile at how insane they were being.

I found myself wanting to get up and walk to my mate, massage the tension out of her soldiers, and go back to devouring her body to make sure that she wasn’t sore or anything.

I really felt a few more orgasms could put her into a relaxed state again.

I knew I hadn’t taken her easy, and I wanted to show her just how much I appreciated her, everything about her, including her body.

My eyes ran down to her hips where my brands were, realizing that they had for sure made her relax somehow when I ran my fingers across them. I would have to try it again, hopefully while buried inside of her.

“Are you healing?” Zain asked suddenly, appearing by her side as I watched the marks I’d left on her start to fade. My eyes widened as Arabella blinked before smiling, seemingly thrilled at the development.

“Can we focus real quick?” The Director called out, clearly not having heard Zain’s question.

“I would bet it’s them,” Order said again.

“I don’t disagree,” Eve said, then added, “The humans do carry a faint scent of magic, but I thought I was maybe mixing it up with the massive amount of nightmares here.”

“Okay, so if they are, how the hell do we fix this?” Arabella asked.

“You find them and nicely ask them to stop?” Order suggested.

“Or we kill them.” Saint shrugged, and when Arabella offered him a wide-eyed look, he amended, “Kill their current physical form, send them off into the spirit realm, and when they are reborn, hopefully they won’t try that shit again?”

“Could work,” Eve agreed.

“We can’t just kill god terrors,” Razar grunted.

Saint grinned. “You can’t, but I have zero qualms.”

“I would rather talk to them about it first,” Arabella muttered before nodding. “Alright, well let’s go find them.”

“What?” I arched my brow.

“Let’s go find them and ask them to stop.

” She shrugged. “Anyone have any better ideas? Humans are pissed and knocking at our door. We can’t kill them, so we need to find the problem and ask them to stop…

or get more help to fend them off, but eventually this will just escalate.

If there is a real problem behind what is happening, I would rather kill it at the source. ”

“You aren’t leaving these grounds,” Razar stated.

“You want me to stay here by myself?” she mused.

His jaw clenched as Zain said, “We could send a different team.”

“You are going to need Saint,” Eve pointed out.

“And I am not leaving Arabella by herself,” he added.

“So what? We are taking a road trip to find these old bastards?” Zain demanded.

“I am not old,” Order growled.

Eve rolled her eyes. “He’s distinguished.”

“Maybe ask some of the other god terrors for help as well,” the Director pointed out. “They may have heard rumors about what is happening as well. Either way, we need to do something, and outright battle won’t work because killing humans makes this all worse. So a mission sounds about right.”

“I get to go on my first mission,” Arabella sang.

“No,” I stated in a hard tone. “I don’t want you going on a mission—”

“She has to,” Saint interrupted, “or else I won’t go. I’m not leaving her here.”

Shit.

“It will be fine!” She clapped her hands. “Plus, how long have I been wanting to travel? This will be a nice little ‘let’s ask the god terrors to play nice’ vacation!”

Or it will be a ‘stuck in a confined space with seven nightmares that want to rip off Arabella's clothes while we travel across the country’ vacation. That was going to be a potential problem.

“We can take the RV!” she exclaimed and offered us a big smile. “This is going to be so much fun, guys.”

“Oh, I agree. I can’t wait to hear all about it.” Eve nodded, looking amused at her excitement, as Saint scoffed. “I will make sure to hold down the fort with the Director here and keep you updated on what’s happening.”

Arabella’s face went serious. “You promise to keep everyone safe?”

Eve turned solemn and nodded. “On my life.”

Considering she was Life, that was pretty damn significant.

“We should find the others as well,” Saint said. “If we are going to have any chance of getting them in order, we need to get as many as possible.”

“And I am not leaving Eve’s side,” Order said, as if any of us had assumed differently.

“Like Pokemon!” Arabella sang.

I chuckled at that. The woman was without a doubt the most adorable, sexy, and frustrating woman on the planet. Fuck. I loved her so goddamn much.

“How the hell are we going to get out of here?” Zain asked curiously.

“The basement garage, where the RV is, actually exists off property under a secret entrance. We don’t use it much,” Arabella said happily, almost bouncing with excitement. Immediately I felt guilt, wondering if it was bad that she so seldom left this place.

I knew she didn’t notice or mention it very often, but Arabella deserved to see the world. I just wanted to make sure it was the good parts. The parts that would bring that smile onto her face.

“I would suggest you leave tonight,” her father sighed and offered Arabella a concerned look. “Can I talk to you outside real quick?”

Arabella practically bounced after him as Order and Eve broke into a conversation, leaving the seven of us to a conversation that I knew was going to be difficult.

“It’s too dangerous out there,” Razar snapped before looking at Saint. “You’re being selfish, refusing to go without her.”

“No, I don’t trust that she’s safe here with the humans outside,” Saint responded with more patience than usual. “Plus, if anyone is being selfish, it’s you.”

“I am trying to protect her from danger!”

“You can’t do that forever,” Saint stated quietly. “Arabella is a grown woman, she can handle herself. You need to see that, Razar.”

“I know what she is, and it doesn’t take away from me not wanting her out there,” he spit out.

“We are going to be with her the entire time,” Zain reminded him.

“I don’t trust that she would be safe here,” I said on a tired exhale. “There are too many factors we can’t control if we are away. She is safe with us, even if we are searching for god terrors.”

“Someone besides me has to see how fucked up this is,” Razar bit out.

“What option do we have?” Cy asked.

“We either leave with her or leave her here,” Damian said. “If we go now, then no matter what happens with the humans, she is safe. You said you wanted to leave,” he reminded Razar.

“This is so messed up,” Razar groaned. “Fine, fucking fine. Her ass isn’t leaving that RV though.”

“What’s an RV?” Amun asked suddenly, causing me to chuckle, because of course the old bastard had no idea what that was.

“Something that all of us are going to be crammed into,” I breathed out.

“Think everyone can keep their shit together?” Zain asked happily. It was very obviously asked in a sarcastic light, because no, no one was going to be able to keep their shit together for that long of a time with Arabella.

“Clearly not.” Saint narrowed his eyes at me.

I grinned. “You’re no better, buddy.”

“I don’t like how smiley he is,” Saint pointed out to Amun, the two of them being far more friendly than before. “Makes me more angry.”

Before anyone could respond, the door opened, and Arabella offered all of us a smile and held up keys. “Who is ready for a road trip?”

I was. I just hoped Arabella considered what it meant to be locked in a car with all of us.
