Chapter 52
LAUREN
Lauren has to press her lips tightly together to stop herself from screaming. The man wrapped around her is a stranger – a monster – and yet it’s also Fraser. The man she loves.
The man she loved.
She lies unblinking in the darkness, listening to Fraser’s breathing.
He’s still awake.
She wants to run. But she won’t. Because Fraser has information they need.
Could we put him under surveillance? Fraser had suggested, when Lauren had wanted to bring in Alan Ellis. If we follow him . . . he could lead us straight to the others.
How ironic, Lauren thinks, for Fraser to now fall victim to his own advice.
She feels his breath on the back of her neck and forces herself to lie still. All she has to do is survive the next few hours, then the tables will turn. The hunter will become the prey.
