Chapter 3
Chapter Three
B y the time we arrived, the party was in full swing. I was pulled into the same strong arms that had circled me this morning, and I sighed.
Harley was hot, but he bored me. “You look insane , Jain.” Harley kissed my cheek as I forced a smile.
“Thanks.”
I knew I looked good, but I didn’t make the effort for him. I moved his hands away, and he frowned, watching me walk over to my friends.
Kate was surrounded by the guys, as usual. She wore a corset over tight leather trousers, her breasts spilling over the top. I glanced at Sarah, who was close by, and she turned to me with interest. “So, the new English teacher...” Sarah drawled, her deep red lips smirking as she winked at me.
“Yeah, I don’t think he’s going to get me through my final year.”
“Will you fucking chill ? Just do your best. If you don’t pass—”
“Then I don’t get into uni. It’s a biggie, Sarah. ”
“I bet he’s got a biggie.”
I looked at her, laughing in disbelief.
“Sarah, are you interested in our teacher ?”
“Ooh, I could be. He isn’t very old, is he? Ah fuck, Eloise is here,” Sarah muttered.
I turned to find Eloise and her cronies were giggling away with a group of guys that surrounded them like lapdogs.
“I swear that’s a sex outfit.”
I was inclined to agree.
Eloise wore what looked like dominatrix attire, all black PVC and lace. Even for her, it was revealing.
“She has got an amazing body, to be fair. Why does she fuck all these men and then act like such a bitch? Do you think they are her real friends?” I mused as Sarah shrugged.
“Insecure. Horny. Stupid? Who knows?”
“I hope she uses condoms.”
“If not, the whole school population will drop like flies.”
I giggled as I drank, watching the party fill up with bodies as the night went on. I didn’t even know whose house we were at, but I knew that I felt sorry for them. Alcohol had already been spilt, my peep-toe heel letting some in when I walked through the kitchen earlier.
“Right, we need shots. I’m too sober,” I declared, moving my way through the crowd as Sarah took my hand.
Harley watched us as he whispered something to Andrew, who smirked. I tried not to react as I pulled a bottle of vodka towards me, pleased when I saw the seal on the bottle wasn’t broken.
“We need glasses. ”
Sarah reached over, taking a swig from the bottle before pushing it back towards me.
“Nah, we don’t.” Sarah coughed as I raised the bottle to my lips.
“Christ, vodka from the bottle? No.”
The bottle was tugged away from me, and I whirled around to meet the intense stare of Arden Charter. A cigarette dangled from his lips as he reached into the cupboard above me, dragging some glasses into his open fingers.
Arden sucked on the cancer stick as I grimaced, hating how attractive he looked. His eyes narrowed as he inhaled, blowing smoke over his shoulder.
“Use a glass. Here’s me thinking you were a classy girl.”
I purposely ignored the glass, lifting the bottle to my lips as Arden raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“Oh, check you out, such a rebel,” Arden smirked, leaning against the counter. He glanced around us, continuing to smoke with disinterest. “This party is shocking .”
“Well, why are you here then?” I shot back, and he chuckled. His eyes slowly made their way down my body, making me shiver when he winked.
“I thought maybe you’d be here.”
“Smooth,” Sarah said, handing me back the bottle of rocket fuel.
“You shouldn’t be smoking that inside,” I said to Arden, knowing it was a fruitless exercise.
“Fine, outside it is,” Arden agreed.
Sarah’s eyes widened as he held his hand out to me before she interrupted.
“Ooh, Harley is over there. Let’s go see him.” Sarah forced a smile at Arden, who gazed at me .
“Do you always do as you’re told?” Arden said as I saw Eloise marching in our direction.
“Do you?” I shot back as I allowed Sarah to pull me away.
I liked flirting —I found it entertaining. Arden was more interesting than Harley, but I didn’t think my friends would ever leave me alone with him for anything more to happen. Sarah practically pushed me onto Harley, who caught me with surprise before he smirked.
“Why don’t we go upstairs, Jain?” Harley murmured in my ear as I sighed.
“Because you’ll get the wrong idea?”
“Every party, every time, we end up together. We work . Why fight it?”
Why indeed?
“Shut up, Harley.” I groaned when he pulled me towards him for a kiss. I didn’t bother resisting; this was the norm for us.
I was usually drunker than this, but it was what it was. His hands gripped my waist possessively; he kissed me so urgently, I thought I was going to come away with bruises.
Harley broke away, his mouth moving to my neck as I turned it into a hug, lifting the vodka to my mouth over his shoulder when I felt his lips on my neck.
Sometimes it was easier to go with the flow. He was pretty hot.
I turned around, leaning against him as my friends beamed at me, happy whenever we were together.
“Be right back. I need the loo,” I muttered, pulling away from Harley’s hands, feeling his eyes on me as I walked away.
Going to a toilet at a party full of teenagers was always risky, but when you needed to go, you needed to go. So I made my way upstairs, leaning against the wall beside the bathroom.
“Come on,” I complained, wondering if I was going to have to wait for whoever it was in there to finish a blow job or sex. “I need a piss!”
The door opened, and I saw Arden gazing at me with surprise.
“Oh, it’s you. The lock is broken. Shall I wait here to make sure no one invades your privacy?”
I rolled my eyes, not particularly caring either way. I slammed the door shut, lifting my dress, and dragging down my tights. I sighed with relief as I emptied my bladder before rearranging my clothes. I opened the door, causing Arden to fall into me.
“Shit! Sorry.” I laughed as Arden shrugged.
“It’s cool. Off you go back to blondie,” he smirked as he lit another cigarette.
“I bet your breath stinks.” I snapped without thinking as he tugged me towards him.
“Why don’t you find out?’” Arden whispered, his lips inches away from mine.
I glanced around us as he chuckled.
“Making sure none of your friends see, hmm? Yet I’m the cliché.”
I stared at him before I reached up, removing the vile thing from his mouth, putting it out under my heel.
“That’s the second time you’ve done that! You owe me two now!” Arden growled, his eyes narrowing.
“You’ll thank me when you breathe in clean air.”
I stormed away, smirking to myself.
Smug bastard, thinking he could intimidate me.
I was glad he’d seen me with Harley. Men like Arden needed reminding he was just that, a man.
I found Sarah in the corner with some dude, and I began to feel anxious. If I was on my own, then I’d no doubt end up with Harley again.
“There you are, come with me.”
Speak of the devil.
“If you want to fuck, Eloise and her cronies are over there,” I said, moving away from Harley, who frowned at me.
“Why are you so difficult?”
“Harley, can we not do this?” I sighed, searching for the vodka bottle.
Shit, I’d left it on the bathroom floor. There was no way in hell I was drinking from that now, so I went off to find a substitute.
As I snapped open the lid from a new bottle, I filled a glass, topping it with coke. The liquid looked light brown, and as I gulped it, I realised it was pretty much pure vodka.
I needed to get drunk to get through this party.
