Chapter 6
Chapter Six
Jayce cupped her face. “Are you okay, Baby girl?”
She licked her swollen lips. “Yes, Daddy. Why did you stop?”
A slow smile spread across his face, and then he groaned. “I only meant to get you out of that dress so you could use the bathroom without so many layers. I got carried away when your lips lured me closer.” He was teasing her. His eyes danced.
She blushed. “I feel weird.”
“That’s the bond, Little one. It’s perfectly normal. You’re going to feel weird for a long time. Your body wants to join with mine. I feel the same magnetic connection. It’s not just you. You need release. Arousal is making you shake.”
“What… What does that mean?”
Jayce lowered a hand to her chest again and thumbed one of her nipples, making her arch toward him and moan. “Have you ever touched your little nipples, Baby girl?”
She shook her head, heat suffusing her cheeks.
Jayce slid his palm down her tummy until he was nearly touching her private parts through the shifts. “What about here, Baby girl. Have you ever stroked your pussy with your fingers?” His voice was deep and low.
Her face heated further. “No, Daddy.”
“What you’re feeling is arousal, Little one. Your body is reacting to mine. Our nearness, our mingled breaths, tasting each other, touching each other. It’s what’s meant to happen between mates, but it’s stronger among Alphas and their mates.”
She had no point of reference, so it was hard to follow what he was explaining, but she understood the connection he spoke of. She felt it all the way to her core.
Jayce set her back a few inches and rose, taking her hand. “Come, Little one.” He guided her out of the nursery and across the hall.
When she glanced around, she realized they were in his bedroom now. His furniture was huge and dark, the bed bigger than any she’d ever seen before. Then again, Jayce himself was larger than any man she knew in the valley. It shouldn’t surprise her that his bed would be bigger.
He led her through that room and into a bathroom. It, too, was enormous with a tub large enough to hold more than one person, a separate shower, a small room with a toilet, two sinks, a long vanity, and a padded chair that fit under the counter.
Jayce turned her toward the smaller room with the toilet. “Go potty, Little one.”
She’d nearly forgotten the pressure in her bladder, but the need rushed back, and she hurried over to the little room, shut the door, and lifted her shifts. Moments later, relieved, she exited the smaller room.
Jayce stood just outside the door. He’d removed his shirt and shoes and now stood before her in nothing but his dress pants. He took her breath away. His chiseled chest made her mouth water.
He smiled as he turned her toward one of the sinks.
Standing behind her, he crowded her against the vanity, turned on the water, pushed some liquid soap onto his palm, and proceeded to wash her hands with his.
It was so intimate that she couldn’t breathe as she watched their fingers thread together over and over.
He took his time, seemingly as mesmerized as she was. “Your fingers are so tiny,” he murmured. “You’re like a little doll next to me.”
She felt the same. He could engulf both her hands in one of his. He was that big, and she found she liked the idea of being so petite next to him. She’d never felt small in the valley. She’d always been average-sized. But with Jayce…
By the time he turned off the water and grabbed a towel, she’d lifted her gaze to look at his face in the mirror.
He was more than a head taller than her.
He surrounded her with his broad chest and arms. And his biceps were huge.
No wonder he so easily carried her around, including cradling her without getting winded as he’d climbed up the mountain.
Jayce tossed the towel on the counter before pulling out the chair and sitting. He set his hands on her hips and held her between his legs.
She liked when he did this. It put them at eye level. Plus, she felt protected by the ring of his arms as he slid them around to her back. She found herself leaning into him, yet again, her hands splaying on his bare chest.
He gripped her hips, his breaths coming quicker.
Neither of them spoke. They stared at each other, not blinking.
Her heart raced. She could hear her blood pumping through her body, and she started to tremble.
Suddenly she was sucked into a vision. It hadn’t happened since she’d arrived, but it was happening now and so fast that she had no way to warn him.
Her eyesight blurred as she went somewhere else. It always felt like she left her body and popped into another location. She was never physically at the new place. No one could see her. She wasn’t actually there. Just watching. Observing. Hovering.
This time, she wasn’t in someone’s house. No one was eating dinner or coloring or playing games. She was in the woods somewhere on the mountain. For a moment, she was alone and confused. Why would the vision take her somewhere alone?
And then a bear leapt in front of her, scaring her to death. It was so huge. Ten times bigger than her. She was certain she was going to die before remembering that she wasn’t really present, and the bear couldn’t see her. He paid no attention to her appearance. Of course. She was an apparition.
When he tipped his head back and roared, the trees shook. Small animals scampered away. Birds flew out of the trees. And then silence as the bear bared his teeth, growling at something she could not see.
He wasn’t facing her directly, thank heavens.
If he had been, she might have peed herself.
It was hard to remind herself she was not there.
It was like watching a horror movie—which she never did.
Even though it wasn’t actually happening, it felt so very real.
She thought if she reached out, she could touch the bear. He was that close.
She wanted to turn and run, but her legs wouldn’t obey her. She’d never had the ability to exit a vision. Every time she’d been thrust into a scene, she’d been forced to stand there until the vision seemingly kicked her out.
This vision was no different, except it was. This was the first time she’d been so scared. The first time she found herself outside. The first time she felt another being’s intense emotions. The bear was furious.
He roared yet again, and Sienna screamed. Suddenly, he jerked his gaze in her direction and looked directly at her. He even stepped closer, cocking his head to one side, examining her. Scaring the life out of her.
A shimmer surrounded him, making her realize he was definitely a shifter. In a second, he would stand in front of her in human form.
Except that was the moment she was yanked out of the vision and found herself back in her new home, surrounded by her mate.
Jayce was calling her name. “Sienna… Sienna… Sienna…”
She opened her eyes and met his gaze, panting, shaking so violently she would have collapsed if he hadn’t been holding her up by the waist.
“Sienna?”
She swallowed and nodded. “I’m back.”
“You scared me to death. Did you have a vision?” His eyes were narrowed with concern.
She nodded. “I was so frightened.” Her voice quivered.
He lifted one hand to cup her face. “You screamed.”
“I did?”
“Yes, Baby girl. I’ve never been so fucking terrified. Are you okay?”
“I think so. I’ve never screamed… Wait. I’ve also never heard sounds in my visions. This time I did.”
“Do you know who you were with?”
“A bear.”
His eyes widened. “Did you see his human form?”
“No. I think he was about to shift when the vision ended.” Her teeth were chattering. She started shaking, and then all the blood drained from her face, and she stopped breathing, wishing the Earth would swallow her whole as a new realization dawned on her.
Tears slipped from the corners of her eyes.
Jayce grabbed her shoulders. “What’s wrong? Talk to me.”
She squeezed her legs together and sniffled.
There was no avoiding the truth. She whispered, “I peed myself.” She wasn’t sure how that was even possible since she’d just finished using the toilet.
Thank heavens she had, too. If not, she would now be standing in a giant puddle.
Instead, her panties were wet, and a trickle ran down her inner thighs.
“Oh, sweet girl.” Jayce kissed her forehead and gave her a hug.
More tears fell. Embarrassment consumed her.
He stroked her hair back. “No reason to cry, Little one. Accidents happen. You were having a powerful vision. I bet that bear scared you.”
She nodded, sniffling. “He- h-he roared. S-so loud.”
“I’m so sorry, Baby girl. Anyone would wet themselves if a bear jumped in front of them.”
Lifting her hands, she swiped at the tears, but they kept coming.
She was overwhelmed from the events of the day and the vision.
It was too much. Plus, she didn’t understand the way her body was reacting to her mate.
Too many senses were bombarding her at once.
Fear, embarrassment, stress, arousal. They were all fighting to be most important.
Jayce rose, swooped her off the floor, and carried her into the bedroom. After setting her back on her feet next to the huge bed, he opened a drawer on the nightstand and pulled out several things.
She watched him spread out a towel over the mattress before turning back to her. “Arms up, Baby girl. Let’s get these shifts off you.”
Trembling violently, she obeyed him, lifting her arms. He was going to see her naked. No one had ever seen her naked, not since she was a small child. And even then, only her mother had seen her.
She’d known on some level that her mate would eventually see all of her. Why had her mother let her believe he would consummate their union without removing her clothes?
Her entire world was about to change. She knew it deep inside even though she couldn’t begin to explain it.
