Chapter 13

Chapter thirteen

Jayson had kept Sabrina up late into the night.

The man was insatiable and they slept in until he woke her up with lazy kisses and caresses.

After a slow morning fuck that made her back arch and toes curl, they showered together.

Once again, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other beneath the pounding spray.

When had she turned into such a nymphomaniac? Because she couldn’t seem to get enough of his kisses, his touches or his amazing cock. Couldn’t stop touching him. Wanting him on the deepest of levels.

They finally went downstairs, made a delicious brunch and enjoyed it at the breakfast table overlooking the stable. Jayson told her he had to take care of the horses, and this time she offered to help. No more snooping. It hit her how far they’d come in such a short period of time.

Coats, gloves and boots on, they trekked through snow flurries to the barn, armed with apples for treats.

“Wow,” she breathed, unzipping her coat. Inside, it was heated and cozy, and the horses greeted Jayson with happy whinnies.

“This is Magnus and Daisy,” he introduced, offering his apple to the bigger of the two, who munched it enthusiastically.

Sabrina walked to the smaller horse’s stall and hesitated. Her experience with horses was extremely limited—pretty much nonexistent, actually—and the last thing she wanted was to lose a finger.

Seeing her hesitation, Jayson showed her how to hold the fruit. “Don’t worry, she’s very gentle.”

Trusting him, she extended her arm and held her breath as the horse nuzzled against her wrist then delicately plucked the fruit from her open hand and began to eat.

Daisy turned out to be an absolute lady, and Sabrina laughed as the horse’s whiskers tickled her palm.

“I don’t know much about horses. City girl here,” she admitted, sending him a sheepish smile.

“I never would’ve guessed,” he teased, and she slapped him on the arm.

“Hey! Doesn’t mean I can’t learn to appreciate being in the middle of nowhere.”

He turned to her, face serious. “You prefer the big city?”

“No.” She sighed. A little wistful as she looked around the barn. “The truth is, I’ve been unhappy living in Washington. I just wasn’t sure what to do about it.”

“Cielo Springs is definitely small-town living, but I grew up here. I can appreciate its charms.”

She stepped closer and toyed with the zipper on his coat, then dragged it down. “I’m learning to appreciate its charms, too,” she murmured, voice husky. Seductive. Her hand slid lower and she palmed his rising erection.

He hissed in a sharp breath. “Really?”

Lowering to her knees, she unbuttoned his worn jeans and worked the zipper down. Tugging his jeans and boxers down over his hips, she freed his cock. “Mmm-hmm.” She grasped him firmly at the base and lightly licked his tip. “It’s really growing on me.”

Before he could respond to the double entendre, she sucked his hard length into her mouth.

“Fuck,” he ground out, hips jerking. His big hand slid through her hair and he grasped a handful, tugging just hard enough to make her scalp tingle. To make everything tingle.

Pulling back, she worked him with her hands and mouth, moaning between licks, squeezes and sucks.

Because for the first time in her life, she was enjoying it.

Giving oral sex had never been something she initiated, and it had always felt more like a chore.

But not with Jayson. She loved hearing how his breathing sped up and turned raspy.

Loved looking up and seeing the hot sizzle in his hazel eyes as he watched her with rapt attention, fully focused on every move she made.

Especially loved the feel of him pulsing and growing.

The man was huge. And watching him watch her was turning her on big-time.

Fueled by his desire, she slid a hand down her leggings and touched herself. God, she’d never been so aroused. Never felt so wet and wicked.

“Jesus,” he groaned, eyeing her every movement closely. When she hesitated, he commanded her to continue. “Don’t stop.” So growly and sexy. “Keep touching yourself.”

She obeyed, and her desire shot to an entirely new level as she rubbed her clit and sucked him deep.

Moaning around him, she brought them both to a shattering climax.

Jayson let out a roar as he jetted down her throat and she swallowed, then stiffened, falling against him as her orgasm swept through her body.

His arms wound around her, holding on as she shook from head to toe.

Pulling her up onto unsteady feet, he snaked a hand around her wrist, lifted it and sucked her fingers clean. “Do you have any idea how amazing you are?” he asked.

At a loss for words, still trembling, she pressed her face against his chest and felt him kiss her head.

“So fucking amazing,” he murmured.

After spending all day again with Sabrina, Jayson got a text from Lex telling him to get his ass down to Old Glory.

Apparently, everyone was there, and they wanted him to bring Sabrina and have a drink.

Or ten. Because Lex had included a whiskey emoji followed by a few party hat emojis.

And Jayson knew that meant Brand must’ve brought down the top shelf whiskey and was being very generous.

He told Sabrina they didn’t have to go, but she said it sounded like fun. Secretly, he was happy she wanted to hang out with his friends. They always made him laugh and he enjoyed spending time with them. And for whatever reason, he wanted her to like them, too.

While she ran home and got ready, he took a quick shower and changed into a fresh pair of jeans and dark green Henley.

Pulling on a plaid flannel and letting it hang open, he slipped on his boots and leather jacket.

His mind couldn’t seem to shut off, and as he glanced through the windows toward her house, thoughts of Sabrina and all they’d done over the past few days teased him relentlessly.

Being with her was exciting and, at the same time, effortless.

Unlike Tara, who’d always been unhappy and hot-headed, Sabrina was strong without being tempestuous.

She had a daring nature, yet she wasn’t reckless.

Because of her job and training, rather than be jealous of or frustrated with his Ranger background and missions with the Motley Crew, she seemed to appreciate what he did, and how it worked into his life.

The more he thought about it, the more he longed for a future with her, whatever that might be. He was absolutely open to negotiation. The last thing he wanted to do was pull her away from her job, her father and the life she already had back in D.C.

When Sabrina returned, he couldn’t resist pulling her close and kissing her. She looked gorgeous, and he was tempted to forget going to Old Glory in favor of stripping her naked and fucking her up against the nearest wall.

But she must’ve caught on to his lusty thoughts, because she extricated herself from his heated embrace with a laugh. “Oh, no, Mr. Knight. We’re leaving, so you’re just going to have to keep it in your pants until later.”

“We could stay in…”

She arched a brow and shook her head, sending her honey-brown hair swishing back and forth along her shoulders. “You are so bad,” she declared.

“When it comes to you, I’m absolutely depraved.”

“Aren’t you tired of me yet?” Though her voice held a teasing note, he sensed she wondered how he could still be so ravenous for her. It made him want to beat the crap out of her past lovers. Some men moved on the moment they got what they wanted. But he knew something special when he saw it.

And Sabrina Ross was really fucking special.

“Never,” he murmured, grabbing her hand and leading her out.

If he had his way, she would never leave Cielo Springs.

That had been his birthday wish.

The moment they stepped through the door of Old Glory, Jayson knew it would be a wild night. One look at the big corner table where his friends’ asses had left permanent indentations in the chairs told him the Motley Crew was in rare form.

“Jay!” Lex hollered, spotting him first and standing up on his chair. He waved them over as if they needed help finding the most obnoxious group in the bar.

“Prepare yourself,” Jayson warned with a grin as they made their way through the packed room. Ski season made the hole-in-the-wall bar far busier than usual, and tonight it was insane. Borderline chaotic.

When they reached his friends, Lex hopped off the chair and slung an arm around Jayson’s neck. “Grab a glass of Brandon’s finest, pal. We’re celebrating getting Emma back safely and you finally finding a lady friend.”

Jayson slanted a glance over at Sabrina. “I apologize in advance for anything that may happen here tonight.”

She threw her head back and laughed, while Chaz shoved a glass of whiskey into his hand and Julia handed Sabrina a girly-looking cocktail. After a quick introduction to Ellie, Wes’s wife, and Sera, Corey’s wife, all attention turned to Lex who lifted his glass.

“Here’s to our boy, Jay,” Lex announced, a shit-eating grin on his face. “For getting his little girl back—with a little help from us and his new, very lovely neighbor. And to dodging Joan Miller!”

The group of men, already looking more than a little tipsy, barked with laughter while their significant others exchanged smiles and eye rolls.

“Who’s Joan Miller?” Sabrina asked, looking confused.

Oh, for fuck’s sake. Jayson snorted out a laugh and shook his head. He clinked his glass against Sabrina’s. “No one. But remind me to tell you later.”

Two more chairs appeared and they sat down.

Thanks to Brand hiring extra help for the busy winter months, the whole group was together, Julia and Brand included.

Lottie looked especially vibrant, perched on Chaz’s lap and officially on maternity leave.

She drank from a bottle of water while everyone else was partying like it was nineteen ninety-nine.
