Chapter One #3
“I do. That’s why I want to share this with you,” Evan said.
Nix stopped walking and pulled Evan to a stop.
So much of their life in Florida revolved around Evan taking care of him.
Evan got off on it. Nix had no doubts about that.
He constantly tied Nix up to hand-feed him, made sure Nix had all the ingredients for his baking, and got them to practices and games.
Evan had taken up all the little tasks that were mundane and boring, allowing Nix more freedom to concentrate on fun things.
This trip to Evan’s home, and that was what the giant house was, was a chance for Nix to learn more about his man.
It was special for them. And Nix was able to share it with his family, which meant bringing Evan closer to the people that meant the most to Nix.
Family was important. Nix wanted Evan to feel the same love.
“Do you want to go back?” Evan asked. “Is it too cold?”
Nix shook his head then stepped closer until his chest pressed against Evan’s. “Thank you for this. I want you to show me everything.”
Evan smiled. “I’m going to.”
Nix pushed up and kissed Evan hard. Heat filled him as Evan deepened the kiss. Nix gripped the back of Evan’s jacket, holding him in place.
Evan drew back.
Nix tried to chase his lips. He wanted more!
“We really need to get going,” Evan said.
“You are totally going to make this up to me,” Nix warned.
“I always do,” Evan promised.
They continued their trek up the mountain and Nix had to admit that it really was pretty. Snow covered the ground, rocks, bushes, and trees. The sun was high in the sky but clouds were moving fast and Evan wasn’t wrong about another snowstorm approaching.
The higher they went, the colder it grew.
“Not much farther,” Evan told him.
Nix had the hood up on his jacket already.
He tightened the cord, pulling it tighter around his face.
Evan had bought Nix’s clothes for the trip.
At first Nix had been confused. Sure, he knew it was much colder in Colorado.
Part of the reason that he was so excited to spend Christmas was so they would have a white holiday.
It was a first for him and his brothers. “Okay.”
After another ten minutes, Evan led him to a cave. A freaking cave. Nix stopped at the entrance. “Is this safe?”
Evan flicked on a flashlight as he turned. “Safe?”
“Don’t bears, like, hibernate in the winter? In caves. Like that?”
“Not this one,” Evan told him.
“Are you sure?” Nix did not want to come up against a bear. Especially if they were responsible for waking that animal. He wanted to live through this trip up into the mountains. He was too young and pretty to die!
“Trust me.” Evan held out his hand.
Nix shuffled closer, but he was trying to look in all the corners for a threat.
Evan grabbed his hand, pulling him deeper into the cave. Nix had good vision. An added gift from being born a shifter. He also had enhanced scent. The cave smelled nothing like he’d expected. It was cold but the cave had a sweetness to it as well.
“I know there aren’t any bears, because this is my cave,” Evan explained as he crouched. He pulled out a bundle from his pack.
“What’s that?” Nix asked leaning forward to see what Evan was up to.
“This is blackthorn wood,” Evan said while setting the bundle down in the middle of a rock circle. “There are other magical ingredients as well that have been used by my clan for centuries.”
Excitement grew inside him. Nix had been dying to know more about Evan’s clan and the magic connected to his dragon side.
It was confusing but Nix was beginning to put together the differences between him being a shifter and Evan having another form.
It was hard since Evan hated to talk about the past and what had happened to most of his kind.
Nix tried not to push since it was something that often upset Evan to talk about.
“This fire will keep us warm and give plenty of light,” Evan said. “It also marks this space as mine. Natural predators won’t enter because of the magic that has been used here.”
“What about other animals?” Nix asked. He was a fruit bat shifter and hadn’t felt anything when he’d entered. No deterrent.
“I have found smaller or injured animals here, but they are welcome. I’ve taken several to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife when necessary.”
“That’s awesome.” Leave it to Evan to have a safe space for even wild prey animals.
The bundle of wood sparked to life immediately, heating the small space.
“Now that you have me in your lair, what will you do with me?” He wagged his brows at Evan. This seemed like a lot of effort to go through for sexy times, but Nix was always up for some fun.
“Give you the one thing that you’ve been dying for,” Evan replied. He began to unzip his heavy coat.
“Oh!” It was a little cold to have sex although the fire was already helping.
Evan barked out a laugh. “We’re not having sex.”
Why not? “But—”
“I guess we can.” Evan tossed him the jacket. “It’s just that my dragon was really looking forward to spreading his wings.”
Nix nearly vibrated out of his skin. “OMG!”
Evan winced. “That was loud, boy.”
“Yes!” He tackle-hugged Evan. He wanted to see Evan’s dragon since before he even knew that Evan really was a dragon. “Please! Please show me!”
“Are you sure?” Evan teased. “I thought you wanted to have sex?”
Nix loved sex! Sex with Evan was the best thing ever! However, he had been dying for this moment. Evan had said that he’d show him one day but Nix hadn’t known if Evan would be comfortable enough to do it on this trip. Not with Nix’s family along for the holiday. This was perfect.
He bounced back toward the fire. “Are you getting naked for me?”
“No,” Evan said with a laugh. “Remember I don’t have to do that. I’m not shifting. Not like you do.
“You just think dragon and, bam, you’re a dragon?” Nix asked.
“I actually give my consciousness over to my dragon side.”
“Wait! Does that mean that you’re not…you?” When Nix shifted into his fruit bat, all his thoughts were still his own. How did that work? What if the dragon ate Nix or something.
Evan grabbed him and gave him a hard squeeze. “You know that the dragon chose you too.”
More confusion. “Yeah?”
“The bond is already there between you and my dragon side. Plus, I’m there too. The dragon wants to spend time with you. He would never hurt you.”
He had to trust that what Evan said was true. In his heart Nix knew that Evan would never do anything to hurt him or put him at risk. “I’m in.”
“Don’t be afraid,” Evan said. He kissed Nix gently. “The dragon will want to get close.”
Nix was going to see a fucking dragon. His dragon.
“I’ll shift outside. The dragon isn’t going to be able to resist taking flight. Don’t take it personal. That was why I made the fire for you. Stay inside here while I’m flying. When I land, come say hi.”
“But I can watch?”
“Of course.” Evan grasped the back of Nix’s neck. “I can’t expect you to not peek. I know better than that.”
“Yes!” Nix was glad he didn’t have to try to be sneaky. That hadn’t worked for him so far.
Evan swallowed hard. “There is one other thing that the dragon would like.”
For some reason Nix knew. The bond that Evan always mentioned yet Nix had never felt seemed to finally make itself known. “You want to tie me up.”
“Yes, just your hands,” Evan replied. “It’s like having something sweet and just for him to come back to.”
“Can you tie them in the front?” Nix questioned. “I…Can I touch him?”
“Yes, you can touch.” Evan sighed. “It’s been a very long time since he’s felt the touch of someone important to him.”
Nix nodded as the importance of this moment hit him. He was trusting the dragon side of Evan but the dragon was putting trust in Nix too.
“Come on.” Evan drew him out of the cave.
Nix held on tight to Evan’s side until they were well away from the cave, standing in an accessible area that must be big enough for a dragon.
Evan turned Nix to face him. “Trust that the dragon would never hurt you.”
“I’m not scared,” Nix said. And he wasn’t. Nix’s bounciness came from anticipation.
Pulling out a length of the blue rope that Nix now loved, Evan held it up for him to see. “Wrists, please.”
Nix offered Evan his wrists.
As his Daddy started to wrap the rope around Nix’s wrists, his cock hardened. It wasn’t his fault! He was feeling the cold now that he was away from the fire but rope equaled being under Evan’s control, which Nix needed. It wasn’t even a want any longer. Nix needed Evan’s dominance.
“Thank you, boy.” They kissed once he finished. Nix rocked forward, letting Evan feel his response to being tied up.
Evan grinned as he drew back. “You are amazing.” Before Nix could respond, Evan strolled to the end of the area, putting distance between them.
It was weird, preparing to see Evan’s other form and not having him undress. Evan stood by the ledge and winked then shimmered.
Nix tried not to even blink in case he missed something.
The wind picked up as a whirl of blue sparkles surrounded Evan until Nix couldn’t see his body through whatever, magic maybe, that covered him. In an instant, instead of the man that Nix was falling in love with, stood a massive light blue dragon.
The dragon blinked big shining gold eyes at him.
Nix’s breath caught. His dragon was beautiful. “Beautiful.” He had to voice the word.
His dragon lifted his head and Nix would swear that he was pushing out his huge chest, showing off his gorgeous reflective blue scales. White, what looked like sharp, spikes ran from the top of his head and down to the tip of his tail.
Nix jumped as the dragon released two massive wings that Nix had somehow overlooked. The wide wings were a paler blue than the dragon’s body and translucent against the sun.
His dragon flapped his wings before he took two clumsy steps and launched himself into the air.
“Holy shit!” Nix shouted.
